Photoshop Elements :: Moving Windows Folders Within 10?
May 24, 2013Using the "Folder Location" view in PSE 10, I have successfully moved all but one of my photo folders from a problematic user account into a new user account on my PC. One stubborn folder will not be moved, with PSE 10 incorrectly citing that "No files from this folder have imported into Elements Organizer."
I restarted PSE 10 multiple times, repeated the process, and even followed the instructions to "Right click on the folder and select 'Import to Organizer.'" The latter action, of course, imported nothing because the 3,000+ files in that file already exist in the Organizer.
As an experiment, I successfully used Windows Explorer to move the folder (don't worry, I undid the move before PSE 10 had a chance to disconnect the files from the Organizer) to the new user account. No problems with that temporary move, but I'm not interested in waiting for PSE 10 try to reconnect all 3,000+ files if I made that my permanent solution.

Nov 12, 2013Is there a way to have the organizer folders set up the same was as Windows Explorer? I have a main folder called Family with sub folders for all the years and in each of the subfolders there could be other subfolders. It wouldn't allow me to click on main folder and get all sub folders. I had to open main folder and then it shows all folders and sub folders separately. They are no longer nested.
Along the same lines, I wanted to create an album of Family with all subfolders, but that doesn't work.that is definitely a short coming which is why I never have used the organizer program, but just PSE for editing.

Jun 25, 2013I've been trying to move folders within the library in LR5. The new folder is created and the raw files are moved ok. However, xmp files are generating error messages. Also, any other files in the folder are causing the same issue. After the raw files are moved over the original folder remains in the library, although it is now empty. It can be removed from the library subsequently.Also, after checking the "new" folder in windows explorer it appears that the xmp files have been moved after all.
I'm using a Chillblast photo oc desktop with i7 overclocked at 4.5 Ghz, 32Gb of Ram, Win 8 64 bit professional. The original folder was on a fast SSD scratch disk and was being transferred to a 1TB RAID backup drive.Problem with LR, Win 8, or file permissions? LR3, LR4, on win XP or Win 7 machines.

I have transferred some folders from my internal drive to an external (FW) drive. Whereas most of the transfer worked fine, I had the following problems:
- one folder (at least) completely disappeared from LR. The files were moved to the new HDD (I can see them in Finder), an empty folder remains in LR under the "old" drive and there is nothing in LR at the new position.
- an empty structure remained at the location of the old files
- on some folders, I had the message "could not complete the folder move..." and only part of the pictures (or none at all) were moved.

1. When attempting to rename a folder, why do I get this message: "The folder XYZ could not be renamed or moved."? It only happens to certain folders but not others. I may come back to that folder several days later and the problem won't reoccur.
2. When moving a group of files from one folder location to another, all but maybe one or two will move. Although I receive an error, I try moving those two again, and they move normally.

I have Lightroom place images in folders on import according to date taken, e.g. 2011 -> 12 -> 31 -> 2011 12 31_001.jpg.
Since importing a lot of images, I have changed their metadata dates due timezone issues or camera dates set wrong. So a photo imported in 2011->12->31 actually now belongs in 2012->01->01. How do I get Lightroom to automatically go through my whole catalogue and move them? I don't mind if all my files get renamed. I though of removing them all from my catalogue and the re-imprting, but won't that lose all my edits?

I re-imported these folders into Lightroom and they showed up under the external HD. However, all of the colour coding/ratings and even the adustments I have made to the images are not visibible. 2. I've also imported a number of folders to Lightroom that were originally colour coded/rated in Bridge and edited in Adobe Camera RAW. Again the edits that I made to these and the ratings info is not visible. Is there a way I can change this?

I've figured out how to set Survey Database and Pipe Network Parts Catalog paths. It seems there should be some general configuration settings dialogue for all these paths somewhere. Is there? If not, is there a list of commands for configuring all the path settings?
This is for standalone clients not using Vault.

Jun 22, 2012How can I locate the Data Shortcuts Working folder? A surface exist as a data shortcut in a dwg, but the location of the data shortcut folder is unknown and therefore cannot be set in the Prospector.

Sep 6, 2012my co-worker can not setup his drawing's data shortcuts. So, we tried to set the working folder. He has no real options for working folders. There is only one project folder showing for him. how to get all of the project folders to display in the set working folder dialogue so we can select the correct project, then select the correct data shortcuts. He is using C3D 2012 on a windows 7 64 bit machine. His folders have black arrows instead of plus signs. I've attached a picture. The Monterey Projects folder should display several hundred project sub folders and you can see we only have the one folder of 2916.

May 26, 2011VS9 enables users to virtually split clips by scene before adding them to the work space. It does not split the actual file but just keeps pointers to the various scenes. VS9 keeps this data in a file named scenedb.dat. However if the clip is moved to a different location then the scene information is not re-linked and is essentially lost (as far as VS is concerned) although the data is still in the scenedb.dat.
Is there any way to go around this problem and recover the scene info after a clip is moved?
That is, besides not moving the clips to a different folder than the one it was in when the scene data was first generated and/or re-generating the scen information?
I tried simple editing of the file path in the .dat file but this does not seem to work. It would be nice to understand the encoding rule for the scenedb.dat file to 1) update it 2) use it to generate some index db outside of VS (e.g. html page).

Soon, that path will be \A_new_server\shareBproj_numberdesign
Upon internal inspection, the data shortcuts are storing the full path and a relative path. Based on our initial tests, C3D is resolving the path to the source drawing using the relative path, even though the "full path" stored in the data shortcut is invalid.
I don't think we will need to use the "Data ShortCuts Editor" to fix the paths as long as the relative directory structure remains intact.

Apr 6, 2013I tired importing photos from one folder and about 300-400 of them weren't imported (out of about 1,000). I deleted them and tried again. Same thing. On the third try it imported all of them.My thought was maybe it's going to take more time importing images from my folders than learning to use the program. I can't learn the program if it keeps dropping images. I tried another directory of about 3,000 images but it only accepted about 300 of them. No matter how many times I tried, it would only import 300 out of the whole batch. These are good jpg files that all my other programs have no trouble with.

Nov 3, 2012Also the correct file name does not appear on the top line when I display photos. It's like something just came in and mixed it all up. It seems to have only happened to recent photos and the older ones I think are ok. I am using PSE 9. I recently had to switch external hard drives and reconnect my catalog to the new hard drive. But that seemed to be OK except for losing most of the tags on my photos. When I tried to import missing files (because they are still on the harddrive) I get the message that the files already exist. However they are not showing in the files they are supposed to be in. I don't know what to do, I have a very large catalog which includes lots of digital scrapbook downloaded files.

Nov 13, 2012Somehow my Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 has been corrupted. The photos I added are scattered throughout several folders. And when I open a file, the wrong folder name appears at the top of the display. It seems to have pushed files down through the folder tree, moving previous files into folders that are about 5 folders down. I was going to reinstall, but I received a warning upon "uninstallation" that I need to deactivate my access number, but I don't know how to do that.
