i've managed to fill my mack up with images as i imported all my photos to the MAC HDD rather than an external HDD,,,school boy error : (but i am new to lightroom) as there's 30,000+ is there a way of moving them with out having to reload them to the new HDD? i only found out my mistake when the computer was running on 1% memory.
View 3 RepliesI have one hard disk filling up with photos, so I have purchased a secondary hard disk to expand my storage. I would like to move my shoots from 2010 to that new hard disk, but I don't want to loose all of the edits saved on them in LR3. I have experimented with moving non-important images that have edits on them, then re-importing them. Unfortunately, LR3 does not preserve that history.

The data is there because it show up in PS Bridge but it is not in the metadata record in Lightroom and the map module cannot find it. I looked through all of the setting and I found nothing that would preclude location from being loaded.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI upgrade to lightroom 5 from lightroom 3. Now all of the develop defaults are "0" for new imported images. In lightroom 3, it would apply default settings at import. In addition, all of my presets are not adjusting exposure/blacks/whites etc like they used to. I am using a Canon XSi. Do I just have something unchecked somewhere?

Bridge is loosing images with keywords. After purging the cache and running a search all images return. However, this does not retain the images. I have seen the images disappear while watching the screen. Subsequent searches only retains a few of the hundreds of images with the keyword.
I have also removed and re-installed Bridge to no avail. I also believe I have the latest updates?
I want to rename images imported from a card into Lightroom 4.4 with a single set of initials followed by a sequence of unique numbers. I would like the number sequence to continue from one import to the next. However, each time I start a new import, Lightroom starts again at 00001. Is there a way to instruct Lightroom to automatically continue the renumbering sequence from one import to the next WITHOUT manually resetting the "start" number each time?

All the images are "greyed" out, any new images I add to this folder have a tick as normal. I have LR on another PC and all is OK when I try this.
I have a working "watched folder", established through Lightroom's auto-import settings. When I place an image into that folder, it is imported into my lightroom catalog.
However, if I put a folder of images into that watched folder (i.e. "James and Stephanie" is put into a "wedding" folder), nothing happens. I do not want all of my images in one single folder; that's why I have Lightroom, so they can be organized in folders but collected in a database.
I also do not understand why Lightroom wants to move auto-imported images into a destination folder.
I would like to drop a folder into the "watched folder" and have Lightroom import (without moving the image) into my catalog.
I was surprised to not find this issue in Internet searches; is it dreadfully obvious, or is there a better way that I'm not familar with?
When importing images from a CF card, they are imported black/white, not color as exposed. Previous imports were normal color.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using Lightroom 4..i've been importing my RAW images from my external harddrive. Some show up in the catalog as ruined with a blank white section and color bands. I've checked the actual image on the external hard drive and it is fine. I've deleted the ruined files from the LR catalog, then re-imported those problem ones... still come in as white with banding. I've even tried deleting them from the catalog, then from the hard drive... then back onto the HD from the camera, then back into lightroom. Some look ok until I look at then in loupe view and the same problem happens. Mean while the images on the HD and on the camera's CF card are fine.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am ruhnning Windows &7 Pro, 64 bit and I'm experiencing inconsistent behavior in Lightroom 3.5 with regard to moving images within collections. When I try to move an image, to place it in the order in which I would like view the sequence, the image is placed at the end of the sequence no matter where I place it initially. I've tried the filmstrip view and the grid view and it happens in both. I recall doing this without problems previously however it was in the imported Library not a collection, but why would this be different?? One still needs to reorder images in collections. I've made certian to change the "sort" option to user each time I've tried to do this.

To organize the files after I get them into LR, I separate them into folders based on the individual in the image (it is easier than it sounds) . But to my surprise, when I move them, the images are removed from the original folder and are not in the new folder. I am hoping that they are being lost in the catalog and not being deleted.
How can I fiend the images again, and how can I get LR to recognize the images in the future...I am moving them within LR!
I have just returned froma trip where I processed images on Lightroom 5 on my laptop. I now want to move the collections to my main library on another drive and computer that uses Lightroom 4. What would be the best way to do this and will I need to upgrade the Lightroom 4 to 5?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI had to move my cataolgs from one external HD to another, but when I open a catalog the images are missing. I know my original images are stored in one place and the catalog is stored in another. Shouldn't the images be found if they are all on the same HD?
View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter the OS X 10.8.5 update on my current generation 27' iMac moving 1:1 images results in very low resolution for those areas I am moving to with as long as a two second delay before the image snaps back into full resolution. Not only that but when it snaps back into full resolution you see a shift in alignment and a snapping into place with the nearby area that was already in full resolution. This is awful and is occuring with Lightroom 5 and 5.2.
My iMacs specs are the current generation 27" iMac, i7 3.4 Ghz, 32GB RAM, and the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2GB running OS X 10.8.5.
I did not have this issue with OS X 10.8.3.
In Lightroom 3.6 (which I just upgraded to from 3.5), I noticed that when I export photos with the option "Minimize Embedded Metadata" CHECKED, the exported JPG images have no EXIF data at all. This was not the case in 3.5.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm now switching from Aperture to Lightroom. But now I've big troubles with my geotagged images (+40'000) I export my photos with a seperate XMP files. In Bridge is see the GPS-Tag but when I import the photos in Lightroom then the location isn't imported!
Why isn't the GPS-Coordination not included?
My catalog in Lightroom 4 is spread over several hard drives and broken into years, with subfolders holding each seperate shoot. I recently replaced the harddrive that only held 2009 with a 3TB drive that should be able to accomodate 2010,2011 and 2012. I would like to move those files onto that drive within Lightroom so that it tracks where they are.

Im shooting Nikon D5100 and D3200 cameras. Im recording GPS data with a Nikon GP1. Im shooting jpg FINE and LARGE 6016 x 4000; 24.1M. I need to be able to batch and individual edit the images which Im able to do but after exporting them my GPS data is gone. Im running an iMac with the latest software and LR 5.
