View 3 Replies View RelatedI am ruhnning Windows &7 Pro, 64 bit and I'm experiencing inconsistent behavior in Lightroom 3.5 with regard to moving images within collections. When I try to move an image, to place it in the order in which I would like view the sequence, the image is placed at the end of the sequence no matter where I place it initially. I've tried the filmstrip view and the grid view and it happens in both. I recall doing this without problems previously however it was in the imported Library not a collection, but why would this be different?? One still needs to reorder images in collections. I've made certian to change the "sort" option to user each time I've tried to do this.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI upgraded to lr5 and am shooting an event that has different groups of participants. To organize the files after I get them into LR, I separate them into folders based on the individual in the image (it is easier than it sounds) . But to my surprise, when I move them, the images are removed from the original folder and are not in the new folder. I am hoping that they are being lost in the catalog and not being deleted.
How can I fiend the images again, and how can I get LR to recognize the images in the future...I am moving them within LR!
I have just returned froma trip where I processed images on Lightroom 5 on my laptop. I now want to move the collections to my main library on another drive and computer that uses Lightroom 4. What would be the best way to do this and will I need to upgrade the Lightroom 4 to 5?

View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter the OS X 10.8.5 update on my current generation 27' iMac moving 1:1 images results in very low resolution for those areas I am moving to with as long as a two second delay before the image snaps back into full resolution. Not only that but when it snaps back into full resolution you see a shift in alignment and a snapping into place with the nearby area that was already in full resolution. This is awful and is occuring with Lightroom 5 and 5.2.
My iMacs specs are the current generation 27" iMac, i7 3.4 Ghz, 32GB RAM, and the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2GB running OS X 10.8.5.
I did not have this issue with OS X 10.8.3.
My catalog in Lightroom 4 is spread over several hard drives and broken into years, with subfolders holding each seperate shoot. I recently replaced the harddrive that only held 2009 with a 3TB drive that should be able to accomodate 2010,2011 and 2012. I would like to move those files onto that drive within Lightroom so that it tracks where they are.

I am doing a football program. It will be a standard 8.5x11 background page that will have small boxes of each senior, along with a box at the bottom of the photo that has their name and position. Sounds easy enough, I know. I came up with the idea to make a "Sr. Player Block" template with a block (just a rectangle shape) set at the bottom of the page which would allow me to pick the players image, arrange it to where it goes to the back so the block will show, adding their name and position on it, and then I was planning on flattening and saving each block and moving it to the background page. My problem is, is that when I open the actual photo, which looks great, nice and clear, to the block template, it gets pixalated and looks fuzzy! I have also noticed the same problem on some family program ads i have attempted, the photos I have opened (that get opened in a different little box look fine, but when i move them they look blurry...

I want to select part of an image with just one layer. Say I just flattened the image and have to move one part of. I select it with the rectangular select tool. It seems intuitive that I could then just move what I selected, but when I drag the selection, the selection itself moves without moving what is inside the selection.
If I then remember to click the move tool and try to move what's in the selection (seems to work sometimes, maybe when there's multiple layers?) the entire image moves.
The only way I can move part of the image over is if I make a selection and then cut it (ctrl X) then paste it.
How am I supposed to move part of the flattened image, is there a way I can set it to default to "When I select something, I can immediately drag that selected area around."
I have a question. When I add .gif images into Paint.NET, they're not moving..
Now I'm wondering, is there a plug-in for Paint.NET to add .gif images and edit each frame?
I'm a new user of VideoStudio X4 and I looking for information about moving and resizing objects or images.
For example, the Star Wars sequence where the Star Wars title passes from back (very big title) to infinite with downsizing, not the long scroll text, only de main title.

Ability to pretty much work in infinity working area, why is it that we are constrained only to page area to cycle objects forward and back of other objects, why is it that I can move my logo behind bitmap within the working area but quite often can not do the same outside the working area.
it always disrupts the workflow, sometimes it seems to work when you oversave then for some reason I can move that object behind that bitmap, sometimes there are instances where I am unable to do that unless i completely restart corel draw... is that productive ?? ,
Why is it that this had not been addressed yet, I remember this being an issue I believe since corel 11 or perhaps even farther.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have used Elements 8 for many years to organize my thousands of photos. I know where the catalog file lives on my laptop and it has an extension of .pse8db.
I would now like to use that same catalog file as I move to use Lightroom so that I don't lose all that data.
I believe that now it needs to be .lrcat.
What process do I need to follow in order to upgrade my catalog from Elements 8 to Lightroom?
I am running Lightroom 4.3 on a PC Vista 64. All images are held in a seperate folder called "images" within the main Lightroom folder.
I have just purchased a new shiny iMac 27" This has a big Fusion drive and an external 2TD Firewire drive attached to it.
On the Mac I want to change my workflow a bit. I want to only keep my latest images I am working on (Say 2013 images) on the Internal Fusion drive and the keep all my 2011-2012 images on the external firewire drive. I also want to make sure all the setting, maps etc from my PC are exaclty duplicated on the iMac
To accomplish this I am intending to physically move my folders"Images", "Settings" and the files .Ircat, irData from the PC to iMac. Hopefully this will completly duplicate my PC setup on the Mac. I wont move the Catalog Previews folder as I assume I can rebuild that.
Then I was going to greate the Archive empty folders on the external drive. Then within Lightroom on the iMac Move the 2011-2012 images to the new external location. Finally I would create a ne catalogue for the 2013 images.
I hope then archive images are on the extrernal drive accessable in LR by its own catalogue and the new/future images i hace on the Fusion drive with a nice small catalogue.I can then easily switch catalogues in Lightroom to the Archive catalogue (on external drive) or stay on my slick current catalogu(on Internal fusion drive) When I want to archive say 2013 in the future I just move the actual images to a new folder on the external drive fromwithin LR the export the catalogu Will this Work ? or should I just use and rename the catalogue the fresh install has done on the iMac and export the PC catalogue to the iMac then move the images to new folders on the external drive.
I have LR 3.6 and CS5 12.0 running on Mac OS X 10.7.3. I use LR to store and tweak all of the photos I take (raw) with my Nikon D700.I am looking at a photo in LR. I want to jump into PS to do some clean up work. In LR I use the "Edit in..." menu option to open up the photo in PS. Then I do some quick clean up (healing brush, etc.). When I save the image in PS and look at the result back in LR I notice that the *overall* image has changed! Thus, the act of cleaning up my image results in changes to the entire image for some reason. The changes might be overall sharpness, slight tint changes, etc.
what is the right way to move between LR and PS so that I don't modify the entire image each time?
I am moving from a PC to a new Mac Mini (quad core, I have fitted 8GB RAM). I have installed LR 3.5 on the Mac. Whereas the old PC had everything installed on the same internal HD the new mac has got 2 internal drives - a 250GB SSD & 7200rpm 750GB HD I will be using the HD for the data (115 GB of photos were copied over yesterday). Should I copy the LR catalog files onto the SSD or the HD & likewise which should I use for the LR temp cache?
View 2 Replies View RelatedJust installed Lightroom 4, more than 60000 images were imported. Many of them were duplicates, triplets and so on. I want to have a clean, unincombured library. Should I delete the 60000 images and reinstall the images from my photo digital cards or use the slow process of "X" out the unwanted images? I would like to start improving my images vs removing the unwanted images.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been having problems selecting images in the library module when multiple images are in view (not down in the timeline, but in the main window). It seems sporadic with which ones it won't let me select, it somehow manages to be the ones that I need to click....!! I just literally can't click it as if it were an image I already imported or something, but it's not grayed out like that. I've been having to select a nearby image then use my arrow keys to navigate to and click the image I need.
