View 9 RepliesWe need to take polylines from AutoCAD Map 3D to 3ds Max and rename each polyline to have a name of something like "Building Number-Room Number", both of which are defined in our properties for each polyline. Because none of this data is kept on import to Max, we need to do this all in Map 3D, which we are not experienced with. Is there a way to do this, and if so what? We are importing the .dwg files in Max with polylines as splines.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIn autocad 2013 is the best way still to convert data you have connected to, for example a shape file, as feature data in order to convert that into polylines and text is the best method saving it all as a seperate drawing using the "save as autocad drawing command"? Is there way to do it individually in the current drawing so that I do not always have to be saving things out as seperate drawings and then copy and pasting them back into my working drawing?

This drawing is actually creeks in a county and they have object data connected to them where some are "a" some are "b" classification and I want to select all of the "a" polylines and put on a diffrent layer.
View 1 Replies View RelatedRunning a Query that inserts a block with attributes filled with text derived from a file that has a large set of polylines with object data (text)? Is it easier just to insert this object data as text with a query. Or can I place this object data (text) into a block that inserts?
Example:
- You have land locations defined within the object data assigned to a set of closed polylines. (Large subdivision)
- Field name for object data on each closed polyline is "LAND_LOC"
- Now, I'd like to label these locations with a block that inserts to a central point within the closed polyline.
- Block Attributes with "get" the information from the polyline / object data and place this value in the block attribute.
- I have 1 drawing file that has closed polylines with object data assigned to them.
- What is the best method for this? I'd like a block with attributes to insert and pull the object data / field and place it into the block with a defined attribute, that is central to each of the closed polylines. (LAND_LOC)
I drew a cube using polylines by changing ucs. I want to join the polylines so that the cube contour becomes one single object.
Since the lines are in different planes I can not join them. How could I unite those 12 lines so they become a cube non solid(I plan on placing a sphere inside some of the cubes and then use "shade" for visualization so if the cube is solid I won't see the spheres).

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm using AutoCAD 2010 32bit on Windows XP with built-in video - so no hardware rendering, etc. I have a situation where a 3D solid that I have created looses its fillets while creating a PDF.
The solid was built using Union, Subtraction, Slicing and Fillet operations. I have attached the DWG and two PDFs - one with fillets, the other without. Both PDFs were created within moments of each other from the same DWG. Notice in the DWG that the solid model has now lost all the fillets on the edges, but they were there when the good PDF was generated. I create the PDFs using ACAD's Output | Export PDF feature on a single Layout in Paperspace. When the PDF is generating, for about two seconds you see the solid edges loose their fillets, and then sometimes return to normal, but other times the DWG changes and I have to add the fillets again.
I know about using the Print option, and also 3rd PDF generators but they also fail - plus, I want to use Output because it's more convenient. I like AutoCAD, but I am thinking of dumping it for SolidWorks (which I just evaluated for 30 days). I can't be putting a lot of time into models that loose their fillets. This same issue happened to me about a year ago, and I finally had to re-create the model from scratch to solve. It's ridiculous that this doesn't work, it's kinda fundamental.
BTW: I tried a fresh OS and ACAD install and the problem persists.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have 200,000 lines with some object data. LINKED to these lines is a database with some more information. Basically I want to export all of these lines to shape files, converting the information in the linked database to be the new object data. (This is for the client to view the lines on ArcGIS).
I have done this a few times in the past, but working with this volume of lines and data, Its taking an extremely long time.
My question is, could i use autolisp to quickly transfer the database data to object data before i export to shape files? or if there are any other options.

I'm in search of a way to convert mpolygon objects to polylines in a way so they stay on its original layer. We use Layer Explode (lexplode) from Vianova but it doesn't work with Autocad Map 3D and they are not planning to develop it.

On my file I have some polylines that are the streets. So, they look like rectangles and curves, etc. I am working also on a 3D Model, and what I have to do next is to extrude them. The problem is that those polylines are not polygons, and so, they are not solids when I extrude them. I tried to use the command BO but it says that the lines are not closed, and I checked with OSNAP and they are! Is there any way to convert those polylines into polygons?

How to create such type of drawings in autocad civil 3d.
I would like an VB application that from within autocad can open an excel file, from there select 2 columns containing x,y co-ordinates. Which when selected will draw a polyline in the acad drawing.
I usually do this the long way, but it seems I'm doing it more and more so would like to have it fairly automated.New to VBA and stuck at even opening the excel file....nevermind the actual selecting columns and drawing of the polyline!!!
