Since the latest update, my Lightroom 3 catalog has gone completely blank. Find Missing Pictures comes up empty. The photo files are still on my Drobo and show up on Bridge. Do I have to reimport 1000's of files? Why did this happen?

I imported pictures to Adobe Lightroom and exported them to my memory card. Now my memory card is broke! Is there any way to retrieve those pictures from Lightroom. Right now they are saying missing.

View 3 Replies View RelatedYesterday, I was importing pictures. I followed the same process I have always used with LR. I have LR4.2. In the process, three folders were created and in two of them, 2 subfolders were created. These are primarily stored on a Drobo. After all the imports, I immediately backed up the Drobo to another HD. When I went to show my wife the pictures today, none of the folders, subfolders or pictures could be found. What LR did show me was that on the backup drive, there appeared all folders and subfolders but all had a question mark on them. All the picture previews are there. When I right click, one of the options is "Find missing Folder". They don't seem to exist. Unfortunately, I erased one of my cards from my D800E after I had backed up the files. When I try to re-import from the other cards, LR identifies all the pictures as suspect duplicates. I have never had this happen before and I have been a LR user from the beginning! What happened to the folders and files? How can I re-import from the cards that still have the pictures.

View 6 Replies View RelatedSo I bought the new 27" iMac. I was keeping all my photos on an external drive but decided to use that for back up and move all the pics onto the new iMac's 3TB fusion drive. I made the move outside of Lightroom. Of course, when I did that, I botched up all the links.
Lightroom 4.3 now shows thumbnails of all my photos, none of my folders in the catalog window, all of my saved collections. What's the most efficient way of getting LR to link my catalog to my newly-located (internal) photos file?
Using LR 4.4 on OS X 10.7.5
I have transferred some folders from my internal drive to an external (FW) drive. Whereas most of the transfer worked fine, I had the following problems:
- one folder (at least) completely disappeared from LR. The files were moved to the new HDD (I can see them in Finder), an empty folder remains in LR under the "old" drive and there is nothing in LR at the new position.
- an empty structure remained at the location of the old files
- on some folders, I had the message "could not complete the folder move..." and only part of the pictures (or none at all) were moved.
Lost pictures in JPEG. pictures in raw files ok. Never moved pictures to revel. JPEG shows broken file. Search on computer shows old file with no pitures. Did not move pictures since I never put anywhere but on my computer I didnt think I had to. Elements 8.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an intermittent problem with LR. I click to start and nothing happens. I have to go into Task Manager, Processes, find that LR is still active from the last time I used it, and shut it down, before I can restart the program. I never had this problem with LR 1,2,&3.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIt will shutdown frequently or sometimes not at all while i'm using Lightroom 3.6. I have Windows 7, 64 bit system, 2.80 GHz, 8 GB Ram.
Lighroom Info indicates that real memory used by Lightroom is 1.7%, Virtual memory used is 116.5 MB.
Fan seems to be ok, my system does not indicate any over heating issues. I also use Photoshop and various other heavy programs with no issues or shutdowns.
Worked fine until tonight... the export window completely vanished. I installed the 4.2 update, no luck. Restarted the computer, nothing. Uninstalled LR completely and re-installed it, still nothing. I can't view the window with the options regarding export, making it impossible.

How do I set up another catalog in Lightroom 3 that will recogize my external hard drive so I can import and work directly on that external drive or do I have to create a new folder? I want to delete all the original RAW photos and JPEG photos from my laptops hard drive to clear up some space.

Short explanation, it's not the same.I don'd know what I did but I dont have the regular spot removel tool.WHen I shoot the spot removal tool the cursor dissapear when I get over the picture like it hides behind the image.When I click I get a very tiny circle and when I drag it makes an arrow. WHat is up with that?

Just started in lightroom (Win XP).
Cannot find any way to save a contact sheet?
Lightroom 4 consistently crashes every time I attempt to print a contact sheet containing over 12 images. Any less and the task is completed without error, any more and it inevitably crashes.
My workaround has been to export the images and create large contact sheets in Photoshop CS6, but this takes twice as long. This is a daily task and is significantly disrupting my workflow.
The Lightroom Library is missing many photos that are on my external Working Drive although very many are. I can't seem to find a wat to get the missing photos in the Library.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been able to use the contact print area in earlier lightroom programs to create nice grid posters of events, characters in a play, etc. without any type under the images ie frame #s etc. I'm stuck in LR4 and can't get rid of the type and also can't seem to expand out the images to fill the white space in the poster to have just a grid, perhaps with some dark lines around the images.Is there a way to do this in LR4? or do I have to do the whole thing in Photoshop or in design.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen it's time to print and save contact / index sheets, Lightroom enters another dimension.
Workflow as normal up to this point: Import (with 1:1 previews) a folder of NEF+JPGs, maybe a hundred or two. Edit, rename and export. Enter the Print module and setup (for the thousandth time) a contact sheet showing maybe 30-50 pics per page.
Select "Draft Mode Printing" and hit PRINT and sit. The "preparing print job" progress bar appears and starts to tick off images, at about 10 seconds apiece. In LR2 this *entire process* took 1-2 seconds. So, an hour and a half later, my contact sheets are ready. I could hand-draw them faster.
It does it in LR3, LR3.2 and LR 3.3. It *never* did it in LR1-2.7.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to print contact sheets in Bridge using keywords and/or star ratings from Lightroom. I'm doing that because rendering is incredibly slow if I try to do the same thing in LR even when I choose 240 ppi in the menu.
In Lightroom, I have selected "automatically write changes into XMP. For the folder and subfolders I'm working with, I have selected all of the images and hit command S to write all of the images into metadata. I've done this with the whole folder and with all of the subfolders as well. None of the star ratings show up in Bridge.
When I open Bridge, some of the folders show the keywords while others that I have processed the exact same way do not. All of the images are NEFs shot with at Nikon D800.
I've also tried opening and closing Bridge as well as purging the cache.
I'm on a Macbook Pro early 2011 running OS 10.8.6.
I've triple checked my settings but I can't get images to show in Lightroom contact sheets. The selected images show in Library, Develop, Slideshow, Book and Web but won't show in Lightroom 5.0. Upgrading to 5.3 doesn't work.
