I've triple checked my settings but I can't get images to show in Lightroom contact sheets. The selected images show in Library, Develop, Slideshow, Book and Web but won't show in Lightroom 5.0. Upgrading to 5.3 doesn't work.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen it's time to print and save contact / index sheets, Lightroom enters another dimension.
Workflow as normal up to this point: Import (with 1:1 previews) a folder of NEF+JPGs, maybe a hundred or two. Edit, rename and export. Enter the Print module and setup (for the thousandth time) a contact sheet showing maybe 30-50 pics per page.
Select "Draft Mode Printing" and hit PRINT and sit. The "preparing print job" progress bar appears and starts to tick off images, at about 10 seconds apiece. In LR2 this *entire process* took 1-2 seconds. So, an hour and a half later, my contact sheets are ready. I could hand-draw them faster.
It does it in LR3, LR3.2 and LR 3.3. It *never* did it in LR1-2.7.

I am trying to print contact sheets in Bridge using keywords and/or star ratings from Lightroom. I'm doing that because rendering is incredibly slow if I try to do the same thing in LR even when I choose 240 ppi in the menu.
In Lightroom, I have selected "automatically write changes into XMP. For the folder and subfolders I'm working with, I have selected all of the images and hit command S to write all of the images into metadata. I've done this with the whole folder and with all of the subfolders as well. None of the star ratings show up in Bridge.
When I open Bridge, some of the folders show the keywords while others that I have processed the exact same way do not. All of the images are NEFs shot with at Nikon D800.
I've also tried opening and closing Bridge as well as purging the cache.
I'm on a Macbook Pro early 2011 running OS 10.8.6.
I'm attempting to print from LR4 print module to a Canon Pixma Pro 9500 using a mac platform. I have 25 contact sheets to print (don't ask!!) and it's taken me 2 days so far and I have managed to print 18 of them. The printer is working. Lightroom appears to be working.

I would also like the contact sheet to contain information about the path that was processed. Is there a way to call the contact sheet tool recursively? Is there away to get the contact sheet tool to embed text about the folder?

Lets suppose I have 3 camera images and I want to run either save for web applications on 2 cameras at the same time, how/can i do that to save time or lets say contact sheet action on 1 and save for web on the other to save time or Photoshop files and this runs in the background?

View 3 Replies View RelatedLightroom 4 consistently crashes every time I attempt to print a contact sheet containing over 12 images. Any less and the task is completed without error, any more and it inevitably crashes.
My workaround has been to export the images and create large contact sheets in Photoshop CS6, but this takes twice as long. This is a daily task and is significantly disrupting my workflow.
I have got a job to take school pictures where I will offer 3 portrait shots and 2 class shots for selection and I am looking for an easy way to add contact thumbnails onto a sheet that also contains a price list and order form as well as other details etc.
I have around 350 of these to do and have made up a sheet that contains all the other details as a PDF and as a In Design Master sheet and as a jpg file.
I am predominately a photographer and know little InDesign except what I have taught myself but not much. How to automate it and save me a whole load of time?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am importing RAW files using LR4. Some images come up blank, from the same CF card, when other appear perfectly. These can be seen when viewed on the camera.
Locating the images through the '?' icon achieves nothing.
I'm using Lightroom 4..i've been importing my RAW images from my external harddrive. Some show up in the catalog as ruined with a blank white section and color bands. I've checked the actual image on the external hard drive and it is fine. I've deleted the ruined files from the LR catalog, then re-imported those problem ones... still come in as white with banding. I've even tried deleting them from the catalog, then from the hard drive... then back onto the HD from the camera, then back into lightroom. Some look ok until I look at then in loupe view and the same problem happens. Mean while the images on the HD and on the camera's CF card are fine.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just updated to Lightroom 3.2 this week. It worked fine the past few days. Then last night, it started kind slow, then showed images shown in Library grid/strip view for any images. But it still show meta data. And no images in Develop tab. But if I move the mouse on the image area, the RGB values in histogram (upper right) still changes with differnt values. Just no images. And it still shows the shooting data.
I reinstalled it twice and oit still behave the same.
Then I build a new catalog. I see images only in the pre-import screen. Once a folder is imported, no images in this new catalog.
I also tried to clear cache, removed preferrance, and then create a new catalog. When I tried to import my images, there is a little triangle showing on top of each image, clicked and it said" Lightroom has some difficulty import the image file".
But PS CS5 Bridge and PS CS5 works just fine. I can actually right click on a grid (even though not seeing the real image or preview) and edit in PSP CS5.
BTW, the day before yesterday's problem, I was watchng the new Lightroom tutorial from this site (which I bought) and adjusted preference,... I don't know whether such a change of setting may cause Lightroom having difficulty seeing images.
Running Lightroom 4.3 on Vista, I cant pass processed Canon EOS 6D RAW images to Photoshop CS4. when selecting to edit in CS4, Photoshop runs but no image appears. There is no error message. In Lightroom Photoshop editor preferences it makes no difference whether I select PSD of TIFF. Is thsi because CS4 is passed an incompatible RAW file... if so whyt no error message?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI would edit some light work on my images and then export it into a folder. It would look fine and have all the features that I edited. Whenever I upload it to other places, it wouldn't take the edits I made and it shows up as the orginal image or maybe a darkened version of it (I'm not sure). The only place that actually takes my edited images as edited, is 500px. For facebook, there were times when I uploaded and it didn't take my edits, but when I exported the image again to a higher resolution of Jpeg, facebook would take the edits.
I wanted to print some photos so I uploaded them to costco or shutterfly, but the images are not the way I edited in Lightroom.
I have used Lightroom since version 1.0 and at the moment I am using v3.3.
Now I have following problem and I can't find a solution for it: In the Navigator I have synchronized my complete folder where I store all of my photos. This folder contains more than 50000 photos already in many subfolders. But now I found some subfolders not showing all their content. I can see in the Navigator e.g. 216 pictures beside the folder name but in the preview I can see only 3 pictures! And I found some more folders which doesn't show their full content.
I tried to sychronize the single folder again but Lightroom says there were no new pictures and also no missing pictures to remove from the folder. If I open the folder by the Windows Explorer then I can see that all the files for the 216 pictures are there! So there must be a problem with the lightroom database!
But now I don't know what to do to get the pictures displayed in the library again.
When I import images I cannot see them in the previews. I have set 1:1, standard, and minimal but it makes no difference. The images show as grey in the preview. When I go to the develop modual I can see the image I select but if I select another image the first goes gray again. For some reason I cannot render previews. Have I turned something off or on? Can I render previews after importing images? The files show up as DNG in my hard drive.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I am viewing my images in the catalog, I don't know why it takes so long for my edited pics to render. It takes about 5 seconds. Is this normal?
I have tried increasing my cache size, auto xmp is off, I have build standard previews, I have upgraded to a faster hard drive, I frequently optimize my catalog.
Ideally, I want to be able to flip through all my catalog images fast without waiting for the developed pics to show.
The only thing I can thing is maybe storing my cache and catalog folders on my external hard drive is slowing it down?
I created a collection called, "favorites." The catalog indicates there are 48 images in that collection; however, the images do not show up. (This seems to be different from the "missing" problem - I understand how that can happen...) don't know where to look and don't know if I have lost those images somehow? I have approximately 25 other collections, all of which seem fine.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI downloaded the Lightroom 4 trial program. After watching a tutorial on importing and organizing I imported a few photos from the hard drive on my laptop. All the functions of the program are working but the images of the photos don't show up.Do I need to uninstall and reinstall the program? Can I do that and still have the trial time of 30 days? Is there some other on/off thing I need to do to make this work?

This is especially true of the images which I tried to import to Lightroom since I downloaded 4.3 a few weeks ago. If I want to seen an image, I have to go to the develop module to see it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedLR 5 is unable to show images of my photos when importing from my Cannon EOS 400. LR3 was able to. Now, in each image frame, I get a message "image not available". The images import correctly, and I can edit them, but I am not able to prescreen them, etc. prior to importation. I have not installed the EOS raw management software. The only other photo editing software I use is IrfanView, as a quick viewer only. I'm running Windows 7, on a Dell Quad core, with mobile NVidea card and plenty of memory.
View 1 Replies View RelatedRecently my hard drive took a (hike) and crashed - data may or may not be recoverable (Geeks are working on that), and I needed to reinstall my CS5 and Lightroom software to a new hard drive (I had to buy a new one). All of my RAW photos are stored on an external drive and were not harmed. Here is my dilemma. Most of the presets I used also went crashing with that hard drive, (yes I believe they were backed up but also on that hard drive...stupid I know-trust me I know!!) but most of them were the free ones from the adobe recommended users on this site. I actually found many of my favorites still posted on the Adobe site and re-downloaded and installed the presets I'd been using the past year and a half, and imade sure those presets were housed properly in their folder via Preferences in Lightroom. Great. I can continue on with my work. WRONG! When I went to go import a recent shoot that I had already edited, it imported the RAW files but none of the previous edits I had worked on for these photos were showing up...it was as if I didn't even touch them and they came right from my camera. What in the world is going on? I'm baffled...and freaking out as I have thousands upon thousands of edited shoots in RAW, and I fear that none of the edits and enhancements made to those photos are going to be present and I'll have to start over. that all of my last 2 years of editing photos are still with the RAW files?!!!
I found a deal on a an HP Intell Core i7 processor) 2 TB hard drive tower, so I ended up needing to install the 64 bit versions of CS5 and Lightroom 3.6. I did test out the RAW (.NEF) file in Photoshop CS5 and my edited RAW image came up "correctly" - so I know that the information is still with the RAW image...I just need it to work and show in lightroom, as it is easier to export the files to the sizes I need them to be.
