Lightroom :: Lost Images / Ratings And Edits In 4.1
Aug 2, 2012
On opening Lightroom 4.1 it appears to have reverted back to how it was a few months and so I lost all of the images I was working on. On reimporting them back into Lightroom, this was performed quickly as if perhaps they were remembered, however all ratings and edits remained lost. Do you know if it is possible to recover these?
I recently copied all Lightroom folders/catalog /etc to a larger hard drive. Upon opening Lightroom for the first time since the move, almost all of the edits made in Photoshop and/or 3rd Party programs are gone and with them the ratings for those photos. Where are these photos/ratings stored and are they retrievable. Again, I copied ALL folders and catalog to the new drive.
Since starting to use LR in 2009, I've been making separate catalogues for every 6 months worth of photos. I've now decided to consolidate all my photos in a single catalog, but the process is taking forever, even though I'm not moving the photos, just importing edits/previews/ratings/collection etc.. How to speed things up.BTW, all of my catalogs have been converted to LR4 format.
When I import files from Photo Mechanic to LR4.1 the star ratingsfro PM show in LR, but when I then export again from LR the star ratings are gone in Photo Mechanic. Obviously I need to tag somewhere in the prefs, problem is I can't find where?
I went to pull an image for a vendor. I added a few to the quick collection. Fine right? Now when I look through the master files in the hierarchy, ALL of the edits are lost, including color labels, starring, flagging, etc. The only images that were not affected are any duplicates that I converted to black and white.I swear I did not change a thing with the catalog or moving files on disk etc. Can I import from an older backup of a catalog to restore my edits?
Did a bunch of edits to some photos in a particlular folder. Went to another folder and did the same. When I went back to the original folder, all the last edits I did were gone.
I made the mistake of moving the pictures to another folder (using Windows Explorer) after I had done some editing. I've noticed that after I moved them, I lost every edit I had made. Is there any way of recovering those edits?
Since "upgrading" to lightroom 5.2 I've been plauged by it applying whatever I do to the image I'm on as well as the next image. The second image is not chosen - I only have one image selected. Whether I'm trying to do a correction, a crop, give it a number of stars, edit in Photoshop - it always affects two images at once.
I have gone through the process of hitting alt/option when in develop to reset default settings in develop to no avail as the images keep being altered whether you are simply viewing in All photos in library module or a single image in develop .
I have many images (entire folders) with question marks and the statement that the images or either offline or missing. I know they are on the hard drive in raw format but I cannot reconnect them to edit them. What am I doing to cause this and I how to I recover them in Lightroom?
I removed Lightroom 5 previously installed from disc, and installed Lightroom 5 from the Cloud. The Keyword list is still displayed in the LHS panel, but the images have no Keywords associated with them. How can I re-instate the Keyword-image association?
Our vacation pictures were on IPAD2. I accessed them and thought I was uploading them when I imported them to Lightroom3. I made panoramas and all in photoshop too. My husband asked if the images had been uploaded and I said yes. So he did synched and the update on the IPAD effectively erasing all those images. Now I find that these awesome images were not synched or imported to the computer, but just to lightroom thumbnails. Heartbroken! I can still see the thumbnails in Lightroom... My card has been formated twice since then. I don't think I can recover them there. Is it possible that there is a program that can recover those images to .jpgs from the thumbnails?
I tried to import (move) 2 images from desktop into Lr3.6, a jpeg and tiff but I got the message that cannot perform the imprt (paraphrasing).
problem is that now the images disappeared from the desktop and they are not in Lr either - thye are gone, not even in the trash.where the images might be? it's a Mac, 10.7.3
Recently I have been asked for certain images taken in 2011.
When searching for them I have discovered that the original capture information has been "gone missing / become lost".
For clarity, the information I'm referring to is the ACTUAL capture date and time of the original image as appears in the raw file metadata.
This data no longer appears on ANY of the subsequent version of any image taken in that year whether PSD or Jpeg. From checks already carried out, the data remains on the original RAW files.
All other years are OK.How can I transfer the date & time of the original image capture from the raw file to subsequents copies (PSD / Jpegs etc)? As literally hundreds of images are involved, is there a bulk routine that I can perform to synchronise this data?
I have done but I am using lightroom 1.4. Previously, any pictures I edited would show as an edited file in the library now all that happens is the original image shows as the edited image.
I am noticing some issues in Lightroom 4.3. How to have picks and ratings appear in the filmstrip. I have this selected in Preferences and previously was able to see picks and ratings.
I am unable to move the photo within the crop (I don't see the "hand".)
I use a iMac to capture and tag photos as finalist. I then transfer the folder to another machine for editing. When I add the images into the editing machines lightroom, all the tags, ratings, stars, colors don't show up.
When I was on Lr3 on both machines, these tags transferred. Even when a client used Bridge, they showed up. Now, not so much.
My ratings are no longer visible on the thumbnails along the bottom of the develop module. The color codes are visible. Under View Options, Show Ratings and Picks is checked. The photos definitely have ratings and filtering by ratings is working. Perhaps I accidentally turned something off. how to make them visible again?
I'm running LR 4.1 RC and recently all the icons disappeared from the photos in the film strip at the bottom. I can no longer see star ratings, the icon for the quick collection, crop icon, or anything else. I did View Options (Right click) and everything is checked on.
I have just edited a number of photos on my computer by adding ratings and keywords. I tried to export them to an external hard drive, so I could free up space on my computer, but I discovered that copies of those photos already existed on the external HD. I selected the "overwrite" option, but the ratings and keywords didn't copy over from the computer versions to the hard drive versions. Is there a way of doing that?
We would like to export RAW files in their original RAW format AND retain their color correction and stars labels. We would then like to import these exported RAW + XMP files into other Lightroom Catalogs. Sometimes when we do this, however, the color correction and stars ratings from the last catalog are not visible.
1. I have a number of folders where the photo's where stored on my Mac HD. I then moved these folders to a new location on an external HD. I re-imported these folders into Lightroom and they showed up under the external HD. However, all of the colour coding/ratings and even the adustments I have made to the images are not visibible. Is there a way I can correct this?
2. I've also imported a number of folders to Lightroom that were originally colour coded/rated in Bridge and edited in Adobe Camera RAW. Again the edits that I made to these and the ratings info is not visible. Is there a way I can change this?
3. Is there a way to search for duplicates within a particular folder or within the whole library?
When i use lightroom on 2 monitors i look mostly at the loupe view on the second monitor to judge or cull my pictures. I can see the resultant stars, colors and reject flags on the grid view on the primary monitor. but i cant see the ratings on the loupe view. I sometimes get confused as to whether i actually rated or color coded a particular photo in a similar series, but i have to look back at the primary monitor to make sure. Am I missing something? Is there some way to have a large view of the picture but include rating info on the same screen?
I'm a hobbyist photographer with lots of personal photos and some I might use for work related projects. I'm just getting started with LR and want to make sure I start right.
1. What metadata fields should I consider using that may be useful in the future? None of my images currently have metadata applied. 2. Will star ratings and labels from Bridge show up in LR?
I moved images from my harddrive to an external drive.
I opened Lightroom.
Noticed there was a question mark by the photo folder I needed.
I synchronized the folders. Nada.
I rememebered I moved the images (first line ^^)
I re-imported the images from the external drive into Lightroom.
These images (other than one that was marked previously with a blue label) look completely untouched - completely original files - even though I spent hours working on them.
I am glad the images weren't deleted BUT re-doing 600 images will be a MAJOR FAIL if I can't figure out how to import the images with the settings / developments I did beforehand.
For no apparent reason I can no longer add ratings/picks/colour labels to my pictures through either shortcuts or the menu. The only way I can add ratings is by clicking on the ratings dots when I have the grid extras turned on.
I have a finished JPG and I am trying to re-create the settings I used in another image. Unfortunately, I didn't save the settings in a preset. Is there a way I can have Lightroom compare the original RAW/JPG with the final JPG and extract settings from that?
With the Adobe CC upon us, I'm am questioning staying with Adobe proprietary DNG (proprietary in the fact it has edits embedded that only Adobe products understand) and PSD files long term.
I have never used Lightroom. But am a heavy Photoshop/ACR user. I have many ACR edited DNG files and multi-layered Photoshop files.I want access to my files in the future (including edits) without having to always have the monthly CC subscription (in the future).
Question: Can Lightroom (not a CC product currrently and hopefully not in the future) open & understand the edits (cropping, color balance, lens correction, ...) I've already done to my many DNG files in Adobe Camera Raw?
Even if I use the CC in the near future and eventually not subscribe, I want future access to my DNG and PSD format files, including all the edits).if Adobe guaranteed a free PSD & DNG viewer (understand the layers, edits, ...) and give the ability (for all time) to export to a flattened image with edits applied to TIFF!
After high lighting several photos, clik on rotate ( see there is no load on the CPU only a very small one in the middle) only the highlighted photo will rotate NONE of the others will not even over time do they respond. same in Libary mode as well
NOTE - why is "auto sync" showing as an option in libary mode?... is that not only availible in Develop mode? after i reset ( see below on the update) sync meta data is NOW shown as the option...
There are not the little 3 dots on the selected photos, showing that it is "working on the edits"
I cleared raw cache, reset all develop presets, restored all local adjustment presets, changed Catalog settings to preview quality to medum ( down from high) Previews size unchanged at 1440 pixels
lr4.2 clean new install, upgraded to lr4.3rc, upgraded to lightroom 4.3 all versions were 64bit.
I edit my images for the most part in LR4 then export as a raw file into a new folder. Then when I view the images in bridge my edits don't show up. Do I have to convert to JPEG for my edits to stick?
