I removed Lightroom 5 previously installed from disc, and installed Lightroom 5 from the Cloud. The Keyword list is still displayed in the LHS panel, but the images have no Keywords associated with them. How can I re-instate the Keyword-image association?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI want a keyword hierarchy with "US" as parent keyword of 50 states name keywords. I have many images with state keywords, but I also have some images that are tagged only with "US" but no state tag, as they are not specific to a state.
How do I *easily* find only the images tagged "US" but with no state tags? Clicking on "US" in the keyword panel shows me all images tagged with "US" and all with state tags, but I just want the ones tagged "US".
I can use "Find" to find "US" images NOT CONTAINING "AL AK AR AS AZ..." by enumerating all 50 states, but that's a terribly awkward way filter out images tagged with state names. I can't see a button or filter that shows only the images with a parent tag but without child tags.
There seems to be a minor bug in Lightroom (since version 3): If I have no filter enabled and click on the little arrow next to a keyword, I get a result that is unrelated to the keyword. If I click it again, it works. So it seems that the feature was only tested with the metadata filter already switched on.

There are bird images taken several years ago that lack keywords but when I bring them up now I also have the keywords from that time which are quite inadequate today. Is there a way in which I can apply my current keyword listings to older images, i.e., change the old keyword folder for my current one?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI would like to use the Library Filter to show images that have a keyword of "Wildflowers" and an empty title. I can do one or the other, but I can't figure out how to have two text filters ANDed together.
LR 4.1 on Windows 7 65-bit.
Long, long, keyword hierarchy. Clicking on a keyword takes the focus back up to the keyword filter box. Usually happens if I've used the filter box to narrow down the keywords that are visible. Continues even after the filter box has been cleared. Doesn't happen all the time though. It is a real pain when trying to double click a keyword to edit it as the first click or the double click causes the list to refresh showing only the top entries. The second click (of the double click) then causes whatever keyword is now under the pointer to be keyword to be edited - NOT the keyword under the pointer when I started the double click.
I've seen this happen in both LR3.0 and LR3.2RC.

I'm new to LightRoom and am glad to have found this great resource. Onto the issue at hand:
An ongoing office project is using LR3 to catalog 30 years' worth of images gathered from various media. Some are scans of slides, negatives, or prints; others are images straight from a digital camera. We have three people working on this cataloging project. The lead guy has created keywords on his computer that he uses to tag these images. Is there any way to make sure the keywords he's using on his machine sync with and are available to the other users of the image catalog? If not, is there a file that would have to be shared among the three users to make that functionality happen?

If I am in Library module, select filter Metadata, select Keywords from dropdown (no other filter panels selected), and start to scroll down the list of keywords, I can select keywords by mouseclick, and see the matching photos as thumbs in the main window.
However as I scroll further down, I can no longer select keywords - the mouseclick no longer highlights or selects. This happens rather incosnsistently - by which I mean, the point in the eyword list where the select stops working is not always the same place in the keyword list.
If I click several times on the same non-selecting keyword, LR4.4 jumps to taking 50% (exactly) of processor time (shown in task manager) , and the memory usage climbs steadily until all free RAM is consumed.
This is a small (~8000 image) catalogue, with ~2500 keywords, entirely non-hierarchical.
The catalogue is set to optimise on backup, weekly.
I've tried deleting and recreating the preferences file btw to no avail
I have many images (entire folders) with question marks and the statement that the images or either offline or missing. I know they are on the hard drive in raw format but I cannot reconnect them to edit them.What am I doing to cause this and I how to I recover them in Lightroom?

On reimporting them back into Lightroom, this was performed quickly as if perhaps they were remembered, however all ratings and edits remained lost. Do you know if it is possible to recover these?
View 6 Replies View RelatedOur vacation pictures were on IPAD2. I accessed them and thought I was uploading them when I imported them to Lightroom3. I made panoramas and all in photoshop too. My husband asked if the images had been uploaded and I said yes. So he did synched and the update on the IPAD effectively erasing all those images. Now I find that these awesome images were not synched or imported to the computer, but just to lightroom thumbnails. Heartbroken! I can still see the thumbnails in Lightroom... My card has been formated twice since then. I don't think I can recover them there. Is it possible that there is a program that can recover those images to .jpgs from the thumbnails?

problem is that now the images disappeared from the desktop and they are not in Lr either - thye are gone, not even in the trash.where the images might be? it's a Mac, 10.7.3

Recently I have been asked for certain images taken in 2011.
When searching for them I have discovered that the original capture information has been "gone missing / become lost".
For clarity, the information I'm referring to is the ACTUAL capture date and time of the original image as appears in the raw file metadata.
This data no longer appears on ANY of the subsequent version of any image taken in that year whether PSD or Jpeg.From checks already carried out, the data remains on the original RAW files.
All other years are OK.How can I transfer the date & time of the original image capture from the raw file to subsequents copies (PSD / Jpegs etc)? As literally hundreds of images are involved, is there a bulk routine that I can perform to synchronise this data?
I have done but I am using lightroom 1.4. Previously, any pictures I edited would show as an edited file in the library now all that happens is the original image shows as the edited image.
View 2 Replies View RelatedLR5 is showing many of my images as missing. When I point to the correct location, it says that that image is associated with another photo in the catalog. I cannot update it to the correct location. I have deleted the preview folder hoping a rebuild will fix this but it hasn't. I recently 'moved' 140 K + photos to new drives, that's when the problems showed up.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have used multiple versions of Lightroom (2, 3, 4, and now 5). Why can't I add keyword tags to multiple photos? I know that it can be done while importing, but I usually import a whole day's worth of pictures at one time and they don't require all the same keyword tags. The ones that are common I do add during import. I used to be able to highlight the photos I wanted to add tags to, go to the metadata and find find the list of keywords applied to those photos. Tags that were not common to all photos has an * beside them. If I wished to have one of these tags for all the selected photos I just removed the *, otherwise I added the new tag to the list.

I moved images from my harddrive to an external drive.
I opened Lightroom.
Noticed there was a question mark by the photo folder I needed.
I synchronized the folders. Nada.
I rememebered I moved the images (first line ^^)
I re-imported the images from the external drive into Lightroom.
These images (other than one that was marked previously with a blue label) look completely untouched - completely original files - even though I spent hours working on them.
I am glad the images weren't deleted BUT re-doing 600 images will be a MAJOR FAIL if I can't figure out how to import the images with the settings / developments I did beforehand.
Completely new to Gimp. Is it possible to keyword images before uploading to picture libraries. This is possible in elements by using the info tab.
View 1 Replies View RelatedUntil I installed Aperture everything worked fine. I would alter an image, use Save As, specify the folder where it was to be saved and then select the type of image (jpeg, png etc). The image was always in the folder I specified. Now when I do the same thing I can't find the image. I use the Finder and it says the image in question is in the folder where I save it but it's not there.
Is there a PS setting that might have been altered when I did the install. That said, maybe the Aperture install had nothing to do with this and it's just a coincidence. Either way all my 'Save As' images are disappearing. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Part 2: Another anomality is that I used to be able to move images from the desktop to a folder. Now when I do that I am just moving a copy of the image and the original stays on the desktop. I did not change anything so how and where do I make the change to actually move the original, not just a copy?
I think that "treat '.' as a keyword separator" checkbox on the preferences window does not work as expected.I want to create keyword hierarchy with this option when importing, but Lr does not separate keywords entered with dot between them.

In my workflow, I rate or tag a photo only after I've made some PP adjustment. So, my workflow would flow better if the "keywording" tab resided in the Development tab as well. Is this possible? Can you add a panel from another tab?
Lightroom LR4 - very slow Keyword set updating 1] keyword an image with some keywords from a keyword set. Those keywords are highlighted in keyword set 2] select next image 3] wait about 4 to 5 seconds for highlighted keywords to be non highlighted.he problem with this, is that yo cannot use the keyword set to apply these keywords to the newly selected image until they are not highlighted any more.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have Lightroom 4.1; 64 bit; Win7. All of a sudden my keyword list is not showing the correct number of photos to which a particular keyword is attached. It doesn't show any for some when there are a number photos with that particular keyword (although it also does not show "0"). For other keywords, it dispolays a number but it is incorrect (apparently always a lower number than actually applicable. I do not seem to be using a filter that might reduce the number.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've built up an extensive heirarchial keyword list in one of my catalogs. I want to export that list to use in other catalogs. I see how you export the keyword list and I get a text file, however, settings applied to each keyword doesn't seem to get exported (i.e. the settings for "Include on Export", "Export Containing Keywords" and "Export Synonyms"). I spent a lot of time building the list such that only the leaf-level keywords get exported to my image. However, when I export my keyword list from one catalog and import it into a new catalog, those settings are lost. Is there a way to export those settings as well? I could create keyword sets, but that would be another time consuming endeavour.
