View 2 Replies View RelatedI backed up my Elements 10 catalog to an external hard drive.I then built a new computer, and installed Elements 10. I then used the Restore feature and restored my catalog to a new location.
Â
All of the pictures came in along with my tags, etc. but all of the pictures are showing a generic icon with a question mark, meaning that they are all disconnected.
Â
When I click on a picture and look at the location, it is still showing the old location, even though I used the Restore function and specific a new location, so Elements obviously knows where the pictures are because it put them there!!!
Let´s say that you have a picture of yourself that you have cut out of an bigger picture, then when you paste it on a background i comes in the middle of the background, how do you do to move it to another place on the background?
View 3 Replies View Relatedhow to explain this problem very well but, i'd like to know how to move images up and down, and forward into the picture. here is a example. i got 2 images, one of a cat, one of a cat bed. and i want to move the cat, so it's lowered into the bed, and it doesnt just look like i've moved it.
here is a example via a picture: see how the cubes are placed behind and lowered etc... i do know its a puzzle, but thats what im trying to explain, but not very well, and want to be able to acheive this using photoshop cs4 or any other program which allows this feature.
How do I move a part of a picture that I cut, using the content-aware move tool, to a different picture?

I tried to drag & drop to re-sort them but was not able to do so.

Is there some way to move individual files around within the same folder?
On my laptop my C drive is getting full,i want to move my Pictures folder to my D drive which is empty.(i have to first find out how to do this) if i move them will Lightroom be able to find them.

I assumed that all settings would be carried into Lightroom 5, so I imported some new pictures wiothout checking the destination. They are now in the Lightroom Catalog, but not where the remainder of my pictures are. Is there a way that I can move them to the desired location?
View 7 Replies View RelatedHow do I delete disconnected thumbnails in Elements 11?
Â
In previous versions, I could easily do this using Reconnect All Missing Files, but Reconnect no longer has an option to delete thumbnails, that I can see.
For some reason have a lot of my pictures been saved on two harddrives on my computer.
I now need to delete all the copies so I only have pictures on one harddrive.
Â
How will I know which photos of the duplicates I can delete, so that Lightroom can work with them later on?
Â
And, if I delete the original file, can Lightroom use the copies?
Sometimes the filmstrip will not allow me to click and drag and change the order of pictures in the filmstrip. The pics are locked in place. It allows me to drag an image to a new position in the filmstrip but when I "unclick" the pic just moves back to its original position. Other times a black bar appears between the pics where I want to move the pic and I can rearrange the order of pics. I cant figure out why I can do this sometimes and sometimes the filmstrip wont allow me to change order.
Â
Also, I can move pics in one file while not being able to move them in another. So it not some universal setting but seems to be file (catalog) specific.
I made the mistake of moving the pictures to another folder (using Windows Explorer) after I had done some editing. I've noticed that after I moved them, I lost every edit I had made. Is there any way of recovering those edits?

View 14 Replies View RelatedI just moved several folders from a corporate shoot into a new folder, all done within latest version of LR4. One of the folders containing 1124 raw photos from a corporate shoot is now labeled as missing after an error message during the move (didn't write down the exact message). The folder and its pictures are nowhere to be found now! System-wide search comes up with no result. WHERE ARE MY PHOTOS?

Â
I have transferred some folders from my internal drive to an external (FW) drive. Whereas most of the transfer worked fine, I had the following problems:
Â
- one folder (at least) completely disappeared from LR. The files were moved to the new HDD (I can see them in Finder), an empty folder remains in LR under the "old" drive and there is nothing in LR at the new position.
Â
- an empty structure remained at the location of the old files
Â
- on some folders, I had the message "could not complete the folder move..." and only part of the pictures (or none at all) were moved.
How can I reconnect the hundreds of images that have become disconnected? One at a time takes ages. If I uninstall and reinstall Elements11, will the program automatically re-populate the organizer?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been using Elements 9 for more than a year. Today it started doing something crazy. When I edit a photo (did this using "guided edit"), instead of saving the edited version (in a version set), all I get is a grey screen with an hour glass. When I go to my hard drive, I find both the original and the edited version saved, but it no longer shows up in Organizer.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have lightroom 3.6 on a Mac running OS 10.6. I am in the process of moving my picture library from the internal drive to an external drive because my internal drive is very full. I plan to have the LR catalog remain on the internal drive as others have suggested LR will run faster if the catalog remains on the internal drive.Â
Â
I initiated the move process within the LR library, by selecting all photos within about 150 folders inside a master "my photos" folder on the internal hard drive displayed in the library module of LR. I then dragged them into the new "my photos" folder I created on the external drive which was displaying inside the LR library module. Â
Â
First question, this moving process is progressing so slowly, at a rate of about one picture every second. is this normal?Â
Â
Second question: When I open the external drive by clicking on the drive itself, outside LR, it seems the pictures are flowing in without any of the original subfolder structure that was present on the internal drive. Is something wrong that I don't see the subfolders on the external drive? I want to preserve this structure and of course see it show up in the LR library for the external drive.
My 2013 AutoCADÂ file needs to "regen" after just scrolling in and out once. I can't do anything because the lines are disconnected and jagged all of a sudden. This started a few hours ago after I drew a spiral staircase and blocked it. I noticed the lines were all of a sudden not connecting while drawing the stairs though. Is there a command that I might have accidently typed to change some type of format? or unit set up? I have been working on this file since September and this problem has never occured. The lines look fine from far away, but when you zoom in there's a clear separation. My snaps are on and they seem to be aligning when I click, but when you zoom in they're not touching at all. I've been googling for soooo long and can't find an answer. My units are 1/8" (Architectural) and when I check the dimension between the two lines it says it's 0".
View 9 Replies View RelatedIt's my understanding that a change made to a disconnected smart preview will automatically update the main database when connected to the drive containing the photo and database. Mine doesn't seem to work automatically. After reconnecting i have to save the metadata for the changed files on the version of Lightroom with the samrt previews and then read the metadata on the primary version of Lightroom. Do both versions of Lightroom need smart previews installed? Should I use a certain procedure of which i'm not aware? I have an iMac for my main computer and a Mac Book Pro for the remote computer.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI want to select part of an image with just one layer. Say I just flattened the image and have to move one part of. I select it with the rectangular select tool. It seems intuitive that I could then just move what I selected, but when I drag the selection, the selection itself moves without moving what is inside the selection.
If I then remember to click the move tool and try to move what's in the selection (seems to work sometimes, maybe when there's multiple layers?) the entire image moves.
The only way I can move part of the image over is if I make a selection and then cut it (ctrl X) then paste it.
How am I supposed to move part of the flattened image, is there a way I can set it to default to "When I select something, I can immediately drag that selected area around."
When importing pictures from the hard drive to Elements 11, how can you keep the file structure intact? Specifically, if the original file has both pictures and sub folders, how can you import the original file exactly as it exists on the hard drive. So far I can move the pictures just fine, but I lose the file / sub file identity.Â
View 1 Replies View RelatedAm using CS5 and Windows 7. Whenever I drag or use the Move command in Bridge to move a file from one folder to another I get the most feared message "Adobe Bridge has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working. Windows will close ...you know the rest". I should also say the files are in fact moved, and I am able to relaunch Bridge immediately.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI process files in ACR and then save them in a folder as jpg I go back to Bridge and when I move the selected RAW files to another folder the jpgs move to the new folder with the RAW files. Even though the jpgs I created are not selected they move to the same folder. The thumbnails in Bridge have a small circle in the upper right hand corner with two tiny arrows pointing up. I do not know what these circles represent or if they have anything to do with my problem. I would like to be able to move the selected RAW files to another folder without having the jpgs moved to this file. Again, the jpgs are not selected and the RAW files are selelcted.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am using Google Drive to store my photos so they are automatically backed up and sync'd across multiple computers, as well as my phone.
Â
I am buying a new primary computer and will need to transfer the catalog to the new computer. However, as I will be installing Google Drive on that computer as well, the photos will all sync down automatically. There is no need to have PE10 copy my flies from the old computer as part of the transfer process, as described here: [URL] ....
Â
The way I see it, there are two scenarios:
Â
I HAVE to use PE10 to make a back up of all the files in the catalog onto an external drive. I import the library on the new computer and either A) Google Drive recognizes that the files are all the same and doesn't waste time syncing the files or B) Google Drive replaces the 110 GB of files currently on the servers with the same files, then pushes those files down to all the devices that are synced.
Â
or...
Â
I can use Google Drive to push the photos onto my new computer, then the paths, tags, albums and other catalog information can be imported without PE10 worrying about the photo files themselves.
