Photoshop Elements :: Program Is Moving Pictures To Strange Locations?
Dec 9, 2012
How can I stop the program from automatically moving my pictures to strange locations when I edit them? They used to appear right next to the originals.
I just upgraded from ACAD 2007 3d to 2012 3d. The rest of my organization is using a "mix" of older versions, so we still save to the 2004 format. Text objects "moving" to different locations or disappearing on opening files in newer versions of ACAD? I've had two instances so far. In one case, a 2012 LT user added a leader/text and the 2000 LT user could see it. The text was clearly there in the 2012 users file. In the other case, I opened a file I worked on in 2007 and text objects seem to be moved about randomly when looking at it in 2012. Everything still looks good with the file opened in the 2007 though.
I suppose when you open a file in Corel draw, it is loaded to RAM and apart from cases when the file is autosaved or backup is done etc it should not depend on actual drive on which the original file is saved.
However I have very often problems recently with corel freezing for some time when just trying to move even small object inside the file. I am using network drive and write speed on it is not the fastest but still 25MB per sec. I am thinking of upgrading to 1Gb but my crucial question is:
Is it at all possible that internal work within a document is somehow dependant on connection speed with the drive? It doesn't happen all the time but when it happens there are no processes in the background that could possibly affect the Corel Draw performance.Graphic Designer, Web designer and playing with Video and Audio mixing and editing as well ;-).Working for Large Format Printing company Carrick Signs.
I have added accidentally a wrong location to a few photos. I replaced the location by the correct one. However, this location is still present in the extended search (even after repairing the catalogue) as checkbox to select.
When selected, no picture is shown (correct), however, if this checkbox with the wrong location vanish.
I cannot share photos from my Elements 8.0 Organizer via email. The program does not recognize that I have an email program loaded. The computer is a new HP desktop with Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1 operating system. My Elements 8 does everything I need except for the photo sharing so I don't really want to purchase a new version.
I have PSE 10 installed on a PC with Windows 7. My camera is a Nikon D90 using a Sandisk 8 gb SD card. When I take photos at different locations on the same date and download them into the Organizer , instead of keeping the photos from the different locations together by location, it jumbles them all up. It does not keep them in order by time taken from first to last for that day , it just mixes them all up in random order.
Lets say that you have a picture of yourself that you have cut out of an bigger picture, then when you paste it on a background i comes in the middle of the background, how do you do to move it to another place on the background?
how to explain this problem very well but, i'd like to know how to move images up and down, and forward into the picture. here is a example. i got 2 images, one of a cat, one of a cat bed. and i want to move the cat, so it's lowered into the bed, and it doesnt just look like i've moved it.
here is a example via a picture: see how the cubes are placed behind and lowered etc... i do know its a puzzle, but thats what im trying to explain, but not very well, and want to be able to acheive this using photoshop cs4 or any other program which allows this feature.
I am working on a picture file, jpegs, changing the size, the level, etc. I open several pictures usually 3 or 4 and when I try to open the next I receive a pop up error message that says: "Could notcomplete your request because of a program error.” This has just started to happen recently, probably since I upgraded to CS6. Previously I could work on a file and have 100 or so pictures open and still be able to open additional pictures. I have downloaded and in installed all availableupdates and the message I receive when I check for updates is:
“Your applications are up-to-date as checked less than a minute ago.” I tried to Edit>Purge>All, Reset Preferences, Deleted the Adobe Photoshop Ver. 6 Prefs.psp folder and pressed Ctrl+Alt+Shift on Photoshop startup and deleted Adobe Photoshop Settings file. Did not work, what next?
I am new to using Tool Palettes. I have created a folder on my C: drive which contains all my tool palettes. Right now, I get the symbol of a circle with a line drawn through it and cannot use my tool palettes.
In the Options tab, I noticed that there are the "Tool Palettes File Locations" and also "Authoring Palette File Locations". What is the difference between the two? Do I need to do something to both so I can use my tool palettes without difficulty?
My file locator displays photos in locations other than the folder selected. The path displayed at the top of the photos is neither the location of the selected folder nor the photos displayed. Is there a way to correct this?
I have a problem with my new Lightroom 5 version. The program seems extremely sensitive to pictures and will be opened when I look at a picture in facebook, or even when I look at people's status. While importing photos from my camera, sometimes the program suddenly responds to a facebook image and tries to import it, and stops importing my photos. I am not familiar enough with the program to get back to the import process, and have to close and re-open the program. Some times the program has been in a process of exporting photos to jpg files, while it suddenly responds to other photos and tries to import them. Once the export process continued, but a couple of times it seemed to stop. Is there a way to prevent these problems? This problem didn't occur with the Lightroom 4 trial version.
every time I open it. A single message appears 'lightroom opening catalog: marsh-essex-country.jpg.ircat'. I had the last time I used the program tried to import a jpg image from my pictures. It failed the and now the program consistently crashes, in the faulting module msver100.dll
On my laptop my C drive is getting full,i want to move my Pictures folder to my D drive which is empty.(i have to first find out how to do this) if i move them will Lightroom be able to find them.
I just purchased Lightroom 5 to replace Lightroom 3. I assumed that all settings would be carried into Lightroom 5, so I imported some new pictures wiothout checking the destination. They are now in the Lightroom Catalog, but not where the remainder of my pictures are. Is there a way that I can move them to the desired location?
For some reason have a lot of my pictures been saved on two harddrives on my computer. I now need to delete all the copies so I only have pictures on one harddrive.
How will I know which photos of the duplicates I can delete, so that Lightroom can work with them later on?
And, if I delete the original file, can Lightroom use the copies?
Sometimes the filmstrip will not allow me to click and drag and change the order of pictures in the filmstrip. The pics are locked in place. It allows me to drag an image to a new position in the filmstrip but when I "unclick" the pic just moves back to its original position. Other times a black bar appears between the pics where I want to move the pic and I can rearrange the order of pics. I cant figure out why I can do this sometimes and sometimes the filmstrip wont allow me to change order.
Also, I can move pics in one file while not being able to move them in another. So it not some universal setting but seems to be file (catalog) specific.
I made the mistake of moving the pictures to another folder (using Windows Explorer) after I had done some editing. I've noticed that after I moved them, I lost every edit I had made. Is there any way of recovering those edits?
I installed the Lightroom catalog etc. into the Pictures folder as that is the default setting. However, I don't want all the previews clogging up my Pictures folder, so would like to move the catalog, previews etc. to a new folder, but can't figure out how to do it properly.
I just moved several folders from a corporate shoot into a new folder, all done within latest version of LR4. One of the folders containing 1124 raw photos from a corporate shoot is now labeled as missing after an error message during the move (didn't write down the exact message). The folder and its pictures are nowhere to be found now! System-wide search comes up with no result. WHERE ARE MY PHOTOS?
I have transferred some folders from my internal drive to an external (FW) drive. Whereas most of the transfer worked fine, I had the following problems:
- one folder (at least) completely disappeared from LR. The files were moved to the new HDD (I can see them in Finder), an empty folder remains in LR under the "old" drive and there is nothing in LR at the new position.
- an empty structure remained at the location of the old files
- on some folders, I had the message "could not complete the folder move..." and only part of the pictures (or none at all) were moved.
I have lightroom 3.6 on a Mac running OS 10.6. I am in the process of moving my picture library from the internal drive to an external drive because my internal drive is very full. I plan to have the LR catalog remain on the internal drive as others have suggested LR will run faster if the catalog remains on the internal drive.
I initiated the move process within the LR library, by selecting all photos within about 150 folders inside a master "my photos" folder on the internal hard drive displayed in the library module of LR. I then dragged them into the new "my photos" folder I created on the external drive which was displaying inside the LR library module.
First question, this moving process is progressing so slowly, at a rate of about one picture every second. is this normal?
Second question: When I open the external drive by clicking on the drive itself, outside LR, it seems the pictures are flowing in without any of the original subfolder structure that was present on the internal drive. Is something wrong that I don't see the subfolders on the external drive? I want to preserve this structure and of course see it show up in the LR library for the external drive.
I want to select part of an image with just one layer. Say I just flattened the image and have to move one part of. I select it with the rectangular select tool. It seems intuitive that I could then just move what I selected, but when I drag the selection, the selection itself moves without moving what is inside the selection.
If I then remember to click the move tool and try to move what's in the selection (seems to work sometimes, maybe when there's multiple layers?) the entire image moves.
The only way I can move part of the image over is if I make a selection and then cut it (ctrl X) then paste it.
How am I supposed to move part of the flattened image, is there a way I can set it to default to "When I select something, I can immediately drag that selected area around."
My Elements 9 program keeps crashing. This occurs often -- after I have edited, saved, and closed a photo image file. I then cannot get back into the Organizer. I have to shut down and restart Photoshop Elements in order to work on the next image. My operating system is Windows 7, 64 bit processor.
