I am new to In Design having come from years with QuarkXpress. I need to put an 8 page owners manual together. The front & back pages have to be set up properly for the printer. How is this don in ID?

Is there another way to do this so I can get perfect alignment for the front and back of the page. Can I do this with Photoshop or should I use a table in Microsoft Word or should I use another program altogether like Adobe Pagemaker or Quarkexpress.

I am making up some furniture blocks with codes in. When I mirror those blocks the text goes back to front.

i am facing some problem with Adobe Illustrator.
Step to simulate:
1. Select an image > right hand click on that image > Arrange > I cant perform ---> Bring to front, Bring forward, Send backward or Send to back.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to create the artwork for stickers to cover the front and side of a freezer. I have created the front panel which consists of a block of colour along the top and bottom (with logo in top panel) and then an illlustration in the middle. Now, I want the blocks of colour and illustration to carry on seamlessly to either side to cover the 2 side panels (which are the same height but different width from the central one). Should I create in 3 separate documents and how do I make sure that I follow the illustration at exactly the point where it finishes at either side of the central panel? I haven't been using InDesign very long and I cant work it out.

View 3 Replies View Relatedi was asked to assist with plotting some coordinated on a drawing, the catch is i need to re orientate the UCS with Y+ at the top of the screen, X+ to the right, Y- to the bottom and X- to the left..
I managed to get this part right, that was the easy part.....
However when i went to put any Dimension or even Text on the drawing it was Backwards and Upside Down.

I am having trouble with the Paste in Front/Back function. I will copy my selected layers and then want to paste them in place on the selected artboard next to it and often times it pastes it back on the artboard where it copies from. Sometimes the function does what I want, but often times it pastes in a different location, either on the same artboard, or next to the artboard where I want it pasted. It also tends to slightly move the X and Y values (again, sometimes). Each time I go to paste, I am creating a new layer and selecting the artboard where I want everything pasted, but sometimes it works, and other times it doesn't. I am using CS5 on MacBook Pro.
View 8 Replies View RelatedHow can I get multiple images on 1 page to line up when printing on both sides? Dimensions are 3.5x2.5, 9 to a page. They are sportscards for son's baseball team. They are slightly off by 2-3 cm on all 4 sides and in betweeen. Extremely frustrating. I tried printing in Photoshops but text is blurry. In Lightroom, Images look absolutely perfect. If they would only line up. Using a Canon MG 6200 if that matters.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI regularly generate models which have a front end (body) of a known shape but differing in size, to a back end (shank) again of a known shape but differing size.
So, is it possible to take pre-drawn blanks of both front end (body) and back end (shank) to join them up to create a new model/part? I'm assuming it's combine bodies but I'm not sure how it works!!

it's going to be a small square and for the back and cover, I have built a file with photoshop and when I drop it to first page, no way I can "slide" it to cover the entire back+ cover

I'm using CS3 on a Mac.
I outlined my text and subtracted it (and the tree image) from the black background. When I did this both appear thinner - particularly the tree.
If I then take the original version and the new subtracted version, and view them both overlayed one on top of the other in wire frame (outline) mode, there is no difference in the actual lines.
It seems to be a problem with the way illustrator previews the images. This wouldn't concern me, but when I export the file as a jpeg, the lines also appear thinner in the export.
I can create a manual solution by offsetting the path before subtracting, but this isn't ideal.
I use my Object Styles palette all the time. I moved it to one side so that I could use two different palettes. Instead of grabbing it to move it back I accidently deleted it. How do I get it back?
View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen opening a document in InDesign CS6 it says the program has stopped and has to close. When I go to open the document again, it says the document might have been damaged.
Also, when I am finally in the document and select the text tool, I can only type text, it won't let me change the font color or do anything for that matter. I can't even change back to the selection tool.
the only options i have when i right-click it are: vector smart object and beckground.

I used to go: TOOLS > DRAWING ORDER, in order to bring an object to the back or the front of another object.
Now that we are using AM 2012, I can't find where this command is located.

View 3 Replies View Related I need to turn this book of files into a pdf for Createspace and the print book dialog in the book panel doesn’t show me the pdf/x-1a 2001 preset. It gives me a default or I can create one myself. The printer selected is Adobe PDF. The file menu only applies to the active, single document, not a book, and while it does list Adobe PDF Presets I cannot apply them to the whole book, only the active, single file.
I found that I can save the preset I need out of the presets dialog but I can’t load it into the print presets to use for outputting the book as a pdf.
My installation was just updated, but still doesn’t show what some videos show should be there.
I copied all the settings from the preset I need but the print dialog doesn't let me create such a preset for a book, and the Export to PDF for a book is for interactive pdf and doesn't allow such presets at all.
I have a 156 page book with graphics, composed of 8 chapter files. If I have to combine all these into one id file to do this, is there a good way to do that without enormous labor? In that other book I created for createspace I didn't have to do that, but I can't figure out how I exported it to pdf/x 1a 2001
Since upgrading to InDesign CC I have noticed that all print progress dialog boxes stay on top of all windows, even after switching apps. I find this highly annoying and want it to go away. Is there a preference I can change to make it NOT be on top, especially when I've switched to a different application?

I'm typesetting a book where the last sections of each chapter should have a colored background, full width of the page (a percentage of the spot color I use). The spot color at 100% is also used for section headings and the like. That means some pages have a completely colored background, for which I made a master page. The first of these pages should only have a background for the sections concerned (the rest of the page should have no background). So I made an object style with exactly the same color and transparency settings as the frame on the master page.I anchor a so-styled frame to the spot from where the page should have a color (so it will always start at exactly the right spot). Works fine.When I print directly from Indesign, there is no problem. When I export it to pdf, there doesn't seem to be a problem either.
But when I print the pdf pages, black text on the page with the anchored frame doesn't show on the background. On the rest of the page it does. Colored text does show, even on the background. On the other pages (with the colored master page) there is no problem either.
How can I print a booklet without a white outline around the border? I'd like the front page to be covered entirely.
