InDesign :: CS5.5 - How To Export / Print Whole Book To PDF / X
Apr 13, 2014
I need to turn this book of files into a pdf for Createspace and the print book dialog in the book panel doesn’t show me the pdf/x-1a 2001 preset. It gives me a default or I can create one myself. The printer selected is Adobe PDF. The file menu only applies to the active, single document, not a book, and while it does list Adobe PDF Presets I cannot apply them to the whole book, only the active, single file.
I found that I can save the preset I need out of the presets dialog but I can’t load it into the print presets to use for outputting the book as a pdf.
My installation was just updated, but still doesn’t show what some videos show should be there.
I copied all the settings from the preset I need but the print dialog doesn't let me create such a preset for a book, and the Export to PDF for a book is for interactive pdf and doesn't allow such presets at all.
I have a 156 page book with graphics, composed of 8 chapter files. If I have to combine all these into one id file to do this, is there a good way to do that without enormous labor? In that other book I created for createspace I didn't have to do that, but I can't figure out how I exported it to pdf/x 1a 2001
I have a InDesign document and I am trying to export to PDF for print. My facing pages are always exported as sinlge pages and I don't know how to prevent that. I can use the interactive PDF as this is for print.
Document A ends with an even (left) page. Document B starts with an odd (right) page. I want those two pages to merge into a spread when I export to PDF, which simply doesn't happen. I'm left with two single pages instead. I have tried every option under Book Page Numbering Options. All my pages and spreads are allowed to shuffle. I'm working in InDesign CS6. I've wasted two whole days trying to figure out if this is even doable.
I have a children's book, fixed layout created with Illustrator and indesign, that I want to make available for Kindle. The book is built in Indesign CC with full page image on a layer and text boxes on the layer above it. My background is in print design so I don't code..
I'm making a research report on landscape design. The final document would have perhaps pages like 80-90 or so. Earlier I used to make reports and multipage documents on MS Word. While making the contents page, I would have to look at each and every chapter's name, subheading and then add the page number manually. Is there any automatic system in InDesign?
For example if the information about
"Sustainable water management "
is given on page number 63. Then Indesign automatically assigns the page 63 in front of the heading "Sustainable water management " in the contents page?
I am working on creating a book layout for print. I opened the .doc file through my Mac text editor and placed in InDesign CC as a text flow. I am working on adding design elements now (after I adjusted the page layout of the text on all the pages) and blank pages keep inserting themselves in weird places (for instance page 7 will suddenly turn into a blank page and my text will move itself down while design elements such as chapter headings will stay in the place where I put them, but then be completely out of place according to where the text is now). I have tried to adjust it every way I can think of--- by moving all of the text up onto the new blank page and re-aligning the chapter headings, by moving the blank pages to the end of the book and deleting them, and of course, by just simply deleting them. (Deleting them just causes the layout to become mis-aligned even worse, and just re-adds the blank page I attempted to delete.)
Im using CS6 and in InDesign can see all of the text required. When I export to PDF, one line of text is not picked up, this is say line 4 of 8, all the other text is exported correctly. Then when I amend this section by adding text/changing colours, InDesign does not pick up my changes?
I have some hatched areas in my template for a map book. It prints fine from the dwg file but when I create a block and put it in the layout and save it as a template. The hatch does not print when I plot the map book.
I'd like to use the Book Module more for exporting JPEG spreads so I can then upload them to a publisher, like Kiss Wedding Books. I'd rather use LR than InDesign because I like being able to edit the photos right there.
The problem I'm running into is that LR is trimming off pixels on export. So, a 12x12 page at 250ppi is not 3000x3000, but 2968 x 3000.
I have a book created (LR4) and cannot get the pages to export as jpg's. I hit the "export book to jpg" button and nothing happens. I am using a Macbook.
How do I go about ordering a photo book from any of the on line services when the program will only save my created book in the pse file format and none of the services recognize that format. I have tried several services and can't fine one that will allow me to upload my files in the proper way. The services don't allow me the creativity that I bought the PSElements for. Since losing Kodak I am stuck. Will Elements 11 solve this problem? I would rather not have to relearn the whole program again at this time.
A simple question. I'm designing a book in lightroom now and some places I decided to put some text over a photo cell rather than a photo. Will it print the text over the photo cell, or doesn't it print the photo cell?
I would like to be able to create a book in LR 4.3 and save as a jpeg in order to print at a lab of my choice rather than just blurb. Is this possible?
I would like to request a feature to export a book module as indd file. I like PDF's but .indd is nice also so we are able to to more in depth layouts.
Having Lightoom being able to manage all your pictures and book layouts would be nice, alot of things can be done in one application.
Another Feature: Using Lightoom as book layout management.
Being able to send a page(s) of the book from lightroom into InDesign to do indepth layout and editing, then being able to send it back into lightroom Almost similar to how you can send a photo from LR in Photoshop to do indepth editing and then send it back into lightroom.
This could and will ease the workflow of book management and layout design. So lightroom will not only be able to manage photos, but also indesign and book layouts. [URL]....
As does Export to JPEG and Send Book to Blurb. No dialog box, no error message, no crash. When I click the button with any of the export options, absolutely nothing happens. This is with a 6-page sample spread. I am using the 4.1 trial version on Snow Leopard.
i cannot export my saved book to pdf or jpeg or blurb. Nothing works. If i start a new book , then it works but i would have to redo the entire layout.
I’m having a problem exporting a Japanese character in my PDF proof of my book. I’m using this character ( 間 ) in a number of different places and it looks fine in the Blurb book layout tool but it’s missing in the PDF when I export. Not only is the character missing but all of the text that follows it in the text box is gone too. Is there some special type of language pack I need to install for Acrobat to export correctlly?
I have made a book in the book module and was really looking forward to send it to Blurb for printing. I push the "Send book to Blurb... " button but nothing happens. I have tried to export to PDF and JPEG aswell, but nothing. I am Connected to internet, I have an account at Blurb but no reaction. Are there any settings I have missed or are there any bugs that prevents me from exporting? Do Blurb ship to Norway or is that the problem?
I have created a book in LR and exported it as JPGS and modified a few pages in PS with some graphic embellishments. I now want to change a few layouts in LR and only export those few layouts, not the whole book.
I'm running LR4.1 on Windows 7 64 bit with 5D MK ii raw images and just discovered the Book module 'Export Book to JPEG' produces files that do not have output sharpening applied.
Book = JPEG Size = Standard Landscape Cover = Hardcover Image Wrap JPEG Quality = 90 File Resolution = 300 ppi Sharpening = (Every setting produces the same results) Media Type = (Every setting produces the same results)
When selecting 'Book = PDF' the sharpening is very obvious and is applied as expected based on the Sharpening setting:
Glossy Low = least sharpening Matte High = most sharpening
I'm using InDesign CS5, and have a document that doesn't export to PDF. It is the only document that fails to do so. I don't receive any error messages, it just doesn't do anything after I select all of my export options. If I remove a specific linked document from the file, it exports fine, so I assume it has something to do with that one linked file
I created a photobook in photoshop elements 9 and selected "print locally". Now I want to send it to a commercial printer and can't figure out how to do so. I have checked with both Shutterfly and Costco, and they want each page sent as a separate picture.... How do I do that?
