View 5 Replies View Relatedneed approval and any changes from client so need to send book pdf as spread - at moment just showing as single page. I can tell them to view two pages but the problem with that is it pushes the pages so they're seeing wrong images next to each other. Is there any software etc to sort this or has adobe already done it & i just need to find it?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just spent half a day designing my first book in LR 4. I completed the book a few minutes ago, and it was only then that I realized I don't seem to be able to export as a Jpeg or as a spread--only as a PDF, and then only single pages, so each spread is chopped in half.
LR is supposed to be a pro tool and this book module seems to be acting more like a consumer tool. If I am correct, then the entire module is basically useless to me and I have wasted half a days work, as I'll have to begin all over again in a new program.
I have placed a photo on a two-page spread as a background graphic. It appears twice - on the left and right pages. All I want is a background image spread over the two pages. Is this possible with the Background Graphic feature?
View 22 Replies View RelatedI've just moved from Lion to Mavericks, reinstalled various things and been working happily for a few days, but just discovered something which has me totally stumped. The "Fit Spread in Window" shortcut (option-cmd-0) no longer works. I've no idea if this is some preference that I haven't got setup in the same way as before, or if some other program or system default has 'reserved' that shortcut - certainly nothing else seems to be happening instead.
Mavericks (10.9.1) + Adobe InDesign CS5.5 (7.5.3)
I have a 66 page book created in the book module..
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm putting together a book for a client, and the publisher wants the files in a single-page layout pdf. It's a book, and I want the opposing pages to have wider spine-side margins, so I'd like to be able to set up every other page with a different master page to accomplish this. Is there any way to automatically set this up? I'd hate to have to go through and manually select every other page of a 200+ page document and set the appropriate master page.

If I insert a table with our standard table style is is to big, so made a smaller text style, made a new table style with the new text style in it.
And if I insert a new table with the new style its still big...
But... select the table, right click, Remove All Property Overrides... And the text style is OK, only the row height is wrong, so in the table bar - unlocked, select the table again and move the right little triangle up until the rows don't get smaller.
When I paste data from excel into autocad as 'autocad entities'(paste special) the newly created autocad table does not adhere to the pre-defined table style. Even if I right click on the table and remove overides the text sizes are wrong. I suspect it might be related to some variable, but I don't know which one.
View 4 Replies View RelatedTrying to set up a datamerge file to create multi page spread documents with fields on different pages. Attempting to set it up so it's as automated as possible as there are up to 20 different merge documents needing to merge with up to 100 different csv records from the same file each week . The merge documents have different and repeated merge fields on most pages.
I've set it up so that the document has facing pages, and most pages have images spread across the whole of the spread. the pages preview fine, they are created ok when using 'Create Merged Document' although the page numbers continue from one document to another (another problem). but when I come to export to pdf, then the merge only shows the image on the left spread but on both left and right spread single pages, and the page numbers don't show the correct page numbers eg it will go p1 p2 p1 p2 etc all the way through the document instead of p1 p2 p3 - p20 etc. I don't want to have to merge first then pdf but can't understand why the images and page numbers are not showing correctly.
I am trying to drag and drop a photo into design page. But the image is too large. How do I shrink the entire image? Is there a better way to input from iphoto?

View 16 Replies View Related I need to turn this book of files into a pdf for Createspace and the print book dialog in the book panel doesn’t show me the pdf/x-1a 2001 preset. It gives me a default or I can create one myself. The printer selected is Adobe PDF. The file menu only applies to the active, single document, not a book, and while it does list Adobe PDF Presets I cannot apply them to the whole book, only the active, single file.
I found that I can save the preset I need out of the presets dialog but I can’t load it into the print presets to use for outputting the book as a pdf.
My installation was just updated, but still doesn’t show what some videos show should be there.
I copied all the settings from the preset I need but the print dialog doesn't let me create such a preset for a book, and the Export to PDF for a book is for interactive pdf and doesn't allow such presets at all.
I have a 156 page book with graphics, composed of 8 chapter files. If I have to combine all these into one id file to do this, is there a good way to do that without enormous labor? In that other book I created for createspace I didn't have to do that, but I can't figure out how I exported it to pdf/x 1a 2001

InDesign CS5.5 on 64 Bit windows 7.
Instructions say that to delete an edit pin, click on it then press the Delete key. This removes the adjustment. I'm fininshed with my adjustments and just want to remove the pin. How do I do this and keep the adjustment?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm exporting a Book to PDF in spreads:
[Document A]
[Document B]
Document A ends with an even (left) page. Document B starts with an odd (right) page. I want those two pages to merge into a spread when I export to PDF, which simply doesn't happen. I'm left with two single pages instead. I have tried every option under Book Page Numbering Options. All my pages and spreads are allowed to shuffle. I'm working in InDesign CS6. I've wasted two whole days trying to figure out if this is even doable.
I have a children's book, fixed layout created with Illustrator and indesign, that I want to make available for Kindle. The book is built in Indesign CC with full page image on a layer and text boxes on the layer above it. My background is in print design so I don't code..
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm making a research report on landscape design. The final document would have perhaps pages like 80-90 or so. Earlier I used to make reports and multipage documents on MS Word. While making the contents page, I would have to look at each and every chapter's name, subheading and then add the page number manually. Is there any automatic system in InDesign?
For example if the information about
"Sustainable water management "
is given on page number 63. Then Indesign automatically assigns the page 63 in front of the heading "Sustainable water management " in the contents page?
I'm having trouble trying to figure how to create a mini TOC in a book. The content of the book is divided in 6 files.
Sample of how it looks likes
1) - Front cover (Pg 1)
2) - EN (Pg 2-20)
3) - SE (Pg 21-40)
4) - DE (Pg 41-60)
5) - FR (Pg 61-80)
6) - ES (Pg 81-100)
From file 2-6 they have their own TOC. Simple and it works, since each file have their own list.
I'm trying to create a small TOC on the front cover telling me each page numbers for each language file/chapter.
EN............2-20
SE..........21-40
DE..........41-60
FR..........61-80
ES........81-100
At the moment, I do it manually. But, maybe there is no simple solution....
I have a flat EPS file which has a white background and paragraphs of text on it. I would like to simply make the image transparent.
I know I can use the Magic Wand Tool to remove the white background but this still leaves me with the white bits in letters such as O, A, P etc etc.
How can I remove one entire colour from an image?
I am working on creating a book layout for print. I opened the .doc file through my Mac text editor and placed in InDesign CC as a text flow. I am working on adding design elements now (after I adjusted the page layout of the text on all the pages) and blank pages keep inserting themselves in weird places (for instance page 7 will suddenly turn into a blank page and my text will move itself down while design elements such as chapter headings will stay in the place where I put them, but then be completely out of place according to where the text is now). I have tried to adjust it every way I can think of--- by moving all of the text up onto the new blank page and re-aligning the chapter headings, by moving the blank pages to the end of the book and deleting them, and of course, by just simply deleting them. (Deleting them just causes the layout to become mis-aligned even worse, and just re-adds the blank page I attempted to delete.)

View 6 Replies View RelatedSaving InDesign files to a network location seems to take an extremely long time during which I am unable to do anything else inside InDesign.I know that this has been an issue for me for at least 2 weeks (since March 3, 2014, possibly earlier). I am not certain whether I have updated InDesign since then, but have consistently been experiencing this same problem.
Today I ran some tests (all using the same ~20MB file).
Save from InDesign to network location: 12 seconds
Save from InDesign to desktop: <2 seconds
Copy file (in Windows Explorer) from desktop to network: <2 seconds

I know I can work on the file locally and copy my saved versions out at the end of the day, but this was not necessary before, and I don't know what changed to make this take so much longer than it used to.
