When opening a document in InDesign CS6 it says the program has stopped and has to close. When I go to open the document again, it says the document might have been damaged.
Also, when I am finally in the document and select the text tool, I can only type text, it won't let me change the font color or do anything for that matter. I can't even change back to the selection tool.
I have this problem with my selection tool i use to scale with my selection tool now all of a sudden i cant scale it gives me a block you can drag the object around but you can't scale the object for a fast scaling.. where do i change the setting of the selection tool back to scaling an object..
View 1 Replies View RelatedIn Indesign CS6 using Mountain Lion, the hand tool appears and I can't select or work with any other tool. All I can do is move the document around. After trying the space bar and other key commands I restarted and it worked for a while. Then it happened again. I work on a Macbook pro, so when I removed the mouse and worked only with the trackpad there was no change. When I quit and reopened, no change. I then deleted prefs and restarted and it worked, but it's been happening from time to time. Any other fix without restarting or deleting prefs.
View 24 Replies View RelatedMaybe it's a problem with Mavericks or with my Mac Mini late 2012. But when editign text with anchored images and other text frames, all the contect disappears. When I click outside the box with the selection tool, everything works ok again. It seems to me a visual glitch, because the content does not really disappears, only in does not allow you to "visually" edit it. If I use a visualization setting of low quality (image boxes shown as gray boxes) everything works as usual. Any clue?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been continually annoyed, when creating a vector mask-heavy document, with trying to select vector mask points by dragging a rectangle only to find that it instead selects a layer higher up which has a larger vector mask.
The only workaround is to manually select the points of my mask or to drag a rectangle from outside the canvas, meaning I have to zoom out or scroll to the edge - sometimes annoying if I am zoomed in quite far.
I know that the move tool can be set to automatically select a layer, depending on what part of the image is clicked, but why is there not an option to turn this off for vector editing?
How can I get the tool selection panel back on the left of my screen? (elements 12)

Once I roll over the picture the arrow is lost and becomes a strange 3 small things, so can't do any work accurately. Still using PS 7 in Win 7. This was not a problem previously. Already uninstalled and reinstalled and problem is still there.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThis morning, my Selection Tool (the filled-in arrow) is acting like a Direct Selection Tool (the hollow arrow), but only when I click and drag on a group. It ends up select the anchors within the group rather than the whole group itself.
I've checked my preferences, quit and relaunched Illustrator a few times, and nothing seems to fix it. The problem briefly went away a few minutes ago, but came back when I quit and relaunched for good measure.
It's happening in Illustrator CS 5.1. I have CS6, and that version works fine, but I'm waiting on some plugins to be updated for it, so I'd like to use CS 5.1. I'm also running the latest Suitcase Fusion 4.
Using the selection tool i should be able tp reduce or shrink the size of the box or an image as a whole without changing the format. Iam not able to do that. I think i disabled something in my illustrator.

View 3 Replies View RelatedIf you look closely in the attached picture, there is a spot of light blue on the player's helmet, that looks like a mistake (think it should look like the grass behind it)...though it actually may be part of his helmet.
Regardless, I'd like to take it out. My idea was to select the blue with the quick selection tool, then bring that selection out to the grass, select the grass with that size/shape of selection, copy/paste and then bring the grass selection into the blue part so it looks like grass in what was the blue part.
The problem is I don't seem to be able to move the selection without taking the blue with it (so it's not an empty selection and therefore can't select a piece of the grass.)
I have just recently downloaded InDesign CC (I use Mac OSX.9.2) and got the World Tools plugin to typeset in different languages.
However, I am having trouble using the selection and type tools. In about the first half of the file, the type tool displays the pointer/dashed box/I-beam icon and doesn't put the cursor in the text when I click on it. I can't click to select text as I should be able to, and if I try to click and drag, all I do is end up creating another text frame. But in about the second half of the file, the selection and type tools work the way they should.
When I click and hold on the type tool, the cursor changes to the crosshairs icon for creating text frames and the "W: H: " dialogue box for text frames appears.
How can I get the tools to work properly in the entire document?
When I installed Photoshop CS6 on my Mac, it gave me the option of using the keys CMD+H to hide Photoshop. Without thinking I said "Yes"
What was I thinking. I always use CMD+H to hide selections! I have been looking around in the prefs, bue can't find a way to change it back.
I make layer mask which is a bit fuzzy, so it merges picture from both layers in some parts. Then I want to save it in order to use it later somewhere, so I convert the mask into a selection. But the selection does not hold the fuzziness of original mask, so when I use it as a mask somewhere else, it varies from original.
I attached the psd file with example what I mean, I have saved mask of the Layer 1 as selection, loaded into Layer 2, created mask, but it is not the same, when I switch on and off visibility of the Layer 2 the picture changes.
Is there a way to make the selection to hold all the information about the mask including fuzziness exactly ?
I did something and I'm not sure what. But my selection tool has changed. Now when I try to alter the length of a clip in a timeline, it automatically switches to the rolling edit tool with the 2 arrows on either side of a line. If I try to just grab the end of a clip it also drags the end of the clip beside it as well. It affects inserts and almost anything I do. I can't figure out how to return my selection tool to normal.

Any way i do not understand with after using -convert point tool- the tool -Direction tool- (2) do not leave me to manage both the direction handles (3). I try to upload a screenshot:

When I use the square selection tool, the selection edges are rounded rather than square. I can't remember how to rset this.
How do you make the edges square by default?
I don't know if this is the right name, but my options for cropping, moving, my wand, etc, have disappeared on me by accident. I don't know how to get them back in their original place. Everything , my options, are gone and replaced only by the airbrush tool.
I try to add a predefined character style via eyedropper tool to another text. First i simply select the tool and click on the previously marked text.
Now the tool instead of picking the predefined characterstyle exchanges the current textfill with an appropriate textstroke.
I've already reset my preferences and short of a complete new installation of InDesign i don't know what to do.
I'm trying to pick up color from an image using the eyedropper tool. But it only will pick up white as a color and fill the other object with white, and not the actual pixel color I am trying to grab. This doesn't always happen but I can't figure out why it is happening in this instance.

I've got a document on 24 pages. On each pages I've got a textbox with the exact same text, formatting etc.It is already set up to easily change the formatting on all boxes at once, but what if I want to change the text? Do I have to manually change it on each page or is there a clever and easy way to set the textboxes up to change the text in them all at once?
