Feb 24, 2014I have a few books that I own the copyrights to. I would like to know if Indesigns ebook can be made into an app for tablets? For iPads and android tablets?

When I export my ePub, the entire text is visible But now that I am going back to edit this document.... Change some paragraph styles, The last 25% of the text in my document is NOT VISIBLE. TRUNCATED
InDesign :: Hot Spots To Trigger Image States In Apps
Mar 20, 2014I watched one of Terry White's videos on Adobe TV in which he used buttons (pins) on a map to reveal different images which were basically the different states of a multi-state object. He then output this to an iPad and everything worked fine. I've tried to replicate this as follows:
Draw a box around part of a map, convert it to a buttonCreate a stack of photo-images in separate frames, Select all of them and create a New Multi-State ObjectSelect Hidden until triggered option for the multi-state ObjectSet the Button properties: On Roll-over, Go to State nnnnn (where nnnnn is one of the images in the multi-object state) This works perfectly in the SWF previewer, but when I output to Adobe Content Viewer the hotspots don't work, and the top-most object in the multi-state object always shows all the time.
Also, I've inserted a video (MP4) file but it doesn't show in the Content Viewers either. I get sound on the dekstop Content Viewer, but nothing on my Android phone.

May 13, 2013I have been using the ebook text Classroom in a Book for Lightroom 4. I am working on two screens: Classroom in a Book is on the secondary screen; LR4 is on the main screen. I have gone through 4 of the lessons. At some point during Lesson 4 I must have done something and I can't figure out how to undo it. What happens is that Classroom in a Book disappears from the secondary screen when I move the curser from the secondary screen to the main screen where I work on LR4 exercises. What appears on the secondary screen is either a LR4 photo or a blank LR4 screen that says "No Photo Selected". I can get back to Classroom in a book if I move the curser to the left margin and click. But then I have to do this every time I move the curser from the secondary screen to the main screen. How do I undo this so that Classroom in a Book remains on the secondary screen as I go from one screen to the other screen.

Jul 8, 2012I'm trying to make my second ebook cover with GIMP, The ebook is 'The Man in Black' by Stanley J Weyman, and the cover must be 600px wide by 800px high - this fits most readers.
I have cropped a monochrome image to show the head and torso of the Man, and scaled it to 280*400px - though I may want to make it bigger later depending on how the cover looks.
I want this image to be on a black background, with the book title above the image and the author's name below - both in white.
The next step, I think, should be to make a layer 600*800px which I'll color black, then put the book title towards the top of the layer / image and the author's name towards the bottom.
Then I think I'll need to make a transparent area in the middle of this layer just big enough for the Man image to show through, then put the Man image on another layer, then combine the layers.
Paint.NET :: Removing (novel By) From Ebook Covers
May 18, 2013I've got two ebooks coming out with "A NOVEL" in one and "a novel by" in the other. I put those in there thinking that they would distinguish them from other kinds of books, but hanging around in the ebook forums the great majority of people are like, 'Using 'a novel by' is amateurish and unnecessary as the book will be amongst other novels.'
Well, I've looked at plenty of ebooks online I thought were novels that ended up being short stories and I was not pleased, so I'm not entirely convinced I should be getting rid of them (the 'a novel by,' that is).
question #1) Do you think I should be getting rid of them?
Question #2) If so, any good way of doing that, where it still looks good?
The Find I did in paint.net before I knew about layers (unfortunately), so everything there is on the same layer.
Man of God was done by a professional cover designer and I have asked him to remove it, but I'm not sure if he will or not. (He did the cover maybe 7 months ago and I've got an email into him three days ago and haven't heard back.) So I don't know how this one was made.
And one last question: what is up with the file re-sizing action? I know that's vague, but when I re-sized The Find photo to 50% the paint.net uploader said it was too big. When I re-sized it to 40% paint.net said it was only 33.24 kb. Can that be? Plus paint.net was calling the file sizes just about double what they were in the file's properties.

Mar 28, 2014When opening a document in InDesign CS6 it says the program has stopped and has to close. When I go to open the document again, it says the document might have been damaged.
Also, when I am finally in the document and select the text tool, I can only type text, it won't let me change the font color or do anything for that matter. I can't even change back to the selection tool.

On each pages I've got a textbox with the exact same text, formatting etc.It is already set up to easily change the formatting on all boxes at once, but what if I want to change the text? Aug 31, 2012I've recently gotten into the craze of writing an ebook for the Amazon Kindle and decided to design my own ebook cover. The biggest problem I've come upon is the shrinkage of the image for preview purposes when people are browsing the Kindle selection.
The original size of my image is 2000 x 1200 (the recommended 1 to .6 ratio for Kindle covers). The book looks great in the original size, but when shrunk down to about 100 x 60, the text becomes pixelated. I've tried the various font styles (mostly sticking to the sans-serif), but all have the pixelated look. I use the built-in text tool for paint.net. I tried making the text as larger as possible across the book cover, but the text still looks pixelated.
Is there a plugin for text that is used for ebook covers to 'merge' them into the cover images to blend in more and not look so sharp?

Mar 17, 2014I am working on a 2-color newsletter in Indesign CS5... black and Pantone 227U.
Whenever I place a duotone .eps (black + 227U) or an Illustrator vector .eps with 227U in it, the color mode for that swatch changes to CMYK. An Illustrator vector which is 100% 227U also gives me the same issue.

Clicking the window, which works for every other app, doesn't seem to work here. I'm on Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and using the latest PS6.

InDesign :: How To Make A Variable Object Style (fill) To Be Triggered By Running Header Change
Mar 28, 2014I have a long document with text variable running headers along page edges. Behind each running header on the Master Pages, there is a black band. I want the color black to change to several different fill colors, when the running header changes, to define different "sections."
It's one document, no separate chapters or sections, at this point. See attached image.
Is there a way to tie the fill color of these colored bands to the running header so that it changes when the running header does? I think what I'm looking for is a way to make a variable object style (fill) to be triggered by the running header change. I have no experience writing scripts, but am willing to try. Plan B will be to unlink the master items and manually recolor on each page.

Apr 15, 2009I'm getting the EPIC_APP will not launch problem trying to launch Acrobat, so I try to launch Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Flash, etc., get the License Agreement screen, accept it, it goes away, and nothing more happens (incl. no indication in Task Manager that it has started). I have a working internet connection (obviously, or I wouldn't be able to submit this question), but could it be a firewall issue anyway? If not, what gives? It's a fresh install of Adobe MC CS3 on a Toshiba Sattellite L305-S5933 running 32 bit Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 w/ 3GB of RAM. Please help: I'm trying to use Acrobat to edit my 1040 and, obviously, time is of the essence!

Apr 23, 2004I have recently installed the Adobe CS, and am running OS 10.3.3. I have two USB printers, one epson and one HP, that print fine with all other apps and are in my printer list and so on... But when I go to try to print from Photoshop, in the print dialog window, instead of my default printer being selected, the drop down menu says "No printer selected". When I go to try to select a printer from that drop down menu, my two printers are not there, and instead the only options are "Edit Printers list..." and "check for printer updates..".
I have tried everything I could think of... Like I said the printers are installed and working great in other apps, and the same menu in other applications shows both printers and lets me select them. Any suggestions? Is there a plugin or something that I need to put in a specific Adobe folder? Why don't the Adobe programs see the printers? Here's another weird thing: Adobe Acrobat does see the printers. And that is how I have to print my photoshop docs, save as PDF and then print.
Photoshop :: CC - Cursor Freezes When Switching Apps
Nov 25, 2013When working on large documents, the cursor freezes for 8-10 sec when I switch from PS to another app/finder. It also happens when I switch back to PS. 8-10 sec. of complete freeze out until everything starts working again.

Photoshop :: CC Displays Images 25% Smaller Than Other Apps
Oct 3, 2013Why is Photoshop CC displaying images 25% smaller than my other applications? If I open a 72 ppi square pixel aspect image in Photoshop, I have to zoom to 125% for it to be the same size on screen as in my browser or any other image viewer. Photoshop reads the correct pixel sizes, but displays it smaller.
I design and build websites and have been using Photoshop for over 15 years and haven't noticed this until CC. If I save the images and build out the site, or even just drag the image into a browser and then overlay that browser window above the Photoshop window to see both images side by side, I can clearly see a 25% difference in size.
If I zoom in Photoshop to 125%, then the sizes match. So, the problem is when designing a website, everything looks smaller in photoshop. Then when I build it out, everything is way too big.
My browsers are definitely at 100% zoom and I can open the image in any other image viewer at 100% and the affect is the same. Is there a setting that can be adjusted in Photoshop to correct this?

Illustrator :: Sharing Swatches Between CC Apps Using Mavericks
Oct 28, 2013Using Mavericks on my Mac I saved a swatch in the default folder in Photoshop CC as a .ASE file. The default folder path is: Users>myusername>Library>Application Support>Adobe>Adobe Photoshop CC>Presets>Color Swatches.
When I tried to load the swatch in Illustrator using 'Load> Other library' in the swatches panel I find that the Users>Library folder is hidden meaning I can't drill down. Obviously I could save my swatch in a more accessible place but am I wrong in expecting the default folder to not be hidden?
I can navigate to the Library folder at Finder level via the Go menu by holding the option key but I'm unable to do this in the Illustrator dialogue.
So my question is this: In order to share swatches between CC apps do I either have to save them in a folder I define or is there a way of accessing the hidden User>Library folder within a Load Library dialogue?
Photoshop Elements :: 6 Program And Apps Won't Open?
Oct 24, 2012PSE 6 program won't open from the start menu or Windows Explorer and the editor and organizer apps won't open from Windows Explorer. All the files are listed in WE and not empty. This happened recently after I have used the program a few years. Do I need to reinstall the program? If so, will the catalog have to be recreated? There are more than 7000 photos in the catalog. I am using Windows 7 Home Premium.

Jun 18, 2013I installed PS CC this morning and it's only seeing 4gb RAM. I opened it and closed it a couple times and it saw my 16gb once. I thought all was well until I closed it and opened it again and it was back down to 4gb.
