AutoCad 2D :: Ordinate Dimensions And Text Upside Down And Back To Front
Dec 2, 2013
i was asked to assist with plotting some coordinated on a drawing, the catch is i need to re orientate the UCS with Y+ at the top of the screen, X+ to the right, Y- to the bottom and X- to the left..
I managed to get this part right, that was the easy part.....
However when i went to put any Dimension or even Text on the drawing it was Backwards and Upside Down.
I have added a small screenshot for reference ....
I was sent the floor plan of a building and I am drawing the rcp. I am trying to add some dimensions but they are upside down. The ucs is at world and mirrtext is at 0. I don't know what to do now!
I have two viewports, one that is not rotated at 1:50 scale, the other rotated at 1:20 scale, and using associative dimensioning, therefore viewing the same model object with two associative scales. The rotated viewport is showing the dimenions upsidedown since it is rotated more than 180deg. If I modify the dimension properties to Left to Right instead of Right to Left, it rotates my other unmodified viewport. The only way right now to have the dimensions showing properly, is to print the first pages with the unmodified viewports, then modify the dimension properties, and then print the rotated viewport pages.
I am using AutoCAD 2012. I am trying to use ordinate dimensions for the first time. So far, when I want to add the X and Y dimensions for a particular feature in my drawing, I choose the "ordinate" dimension type and then I select my feature. I drag my leader horizontally and it gives me the Y dimension. Then I choose the "ordinate" dimension type again, I select my feature again, and this time I drag my leader vertically and it gives me the X dimension.
I like how this works, but I think I would like it better if, rather than having two separate leaders for X and Y dimensions, I could just have one leader that would show both X and Y dimensions separated by a comma...i.e. something like [X:5.0; Y 7.5]
I have had to revise a part that someone else created at some earlier date. They used the ordinate dimensions, which works perfectly and looks good.
I have had to add some holes to this part, but can not figure out how to add more dimensions to the existing ones, outside of deleting the dimensions and dimensioning them all over again.
How do I add more ordinate dimensions to the existing?
I have been using the ordinate set command to place set dimensions on an Inventor drawing in version 2012, I was looking for a similar way to rapidly add dimensions for hole diameters .
We use ordinate dimensions for all holes in parts. Unfortunately there seems to be features frequently left out of ordinate dimension mode. For instance, by default Inventor uses center and quadrant object snaps. Unlike in normal dimension mode, there is no right click option for disabling quadrant snaps. This is a constant annoyance, especially when dimensioning a print with a lot of holes. Is there any other way or hidden setting to disable the quadrant snap? In addition, add member is missing from the new "marking menu" completely so we have to enable the old right click menu to get it back. Are we the only ones using ordinate dimensions?
When I try to use the Send to Back command (HOME - MODIFY - DRAWORDER) then I get the notification in the Command line: "Command: Unknown command "FRONT". Press F1 for help."
i have a problem of net being able to view dimensions in the model space in the current view. i was not paying attention to what view i started the 2d drawing in, but right now it is in the front view. the dimensions lines gets put on a plane that the program has decided and wheather i try to dimension above or below it, it goes to that line. i have also noticed that for some unknown reason the 2d drawing gave itself depth. it is a very large drawing and i have tried to clip parts of it to put on a new drawing it defalts to the front view and i still cannot dimension on it.
I am using arch 2009, and the program did get corrupt during my work and had to reinstall. i have reinstalled several time with the same result. i have tried arch 2011 also with the same result. i think there is a setting that somehow changed and i can't figure out what it is, or should i chalk this up to a program malfunction and start from scratch in a top view (which works fine).
There was a message on here about using Ordinate Set to create an ordinate dimension to an apparent intersection and I've managed to do that, but is there a way to use just Ordinate to dimension to an apparent intersection? I've tried dragging and right click menu but no luck.
I regularly generate models which have a front end (body) of a known shape but differing in size, to a back end (shank) again of a known shape but differing size.
So, is it possible to take pre-drawn blanks of both front end (body) and back end (shank) to join them up to create a new model/part? I'm assuming it's combine bodies but I'm not sure how it works!!
Suddenly, I must have hit something, all new text added to my drawing when using Multi-line mode is Upside down. When using single line mode new text is backward. When looking at the properties the text is NOT shown as upside down or backward and my text style is set to Standard and has not changed. This problem is isolated to the current drawing. If I open a new drawing text is entered correctly.
I'm trying to print a flyer that has art on the front and back. I copied the images to Microsoft Word on page one and two. I then printed page one and then turned the page over and printed page two on the back. Though I have the same settings for page one and two, it's not aligning.
Is there another way to do this so I can get perfect alignment for the front and back of the page. Can I do this with Photoshop or should I use a table in Microsoft Word or should I use another program altogether like Adobe Pagemaker or Quarkexpress.

I am new to In Design having come from years with QuarkXpress. I need to put an 8 page owners manual together. The front & back pages have to be set up properly for the printer. How is this don in ID?
I am having a problem with dimensions and making them opaque. I want to use "Bring to Front" to solve it, but Revit does not give me this option.
To detail out my problem: I have a dim style style setup to make dimesion text mask out objects behind it. The problem we are having is that if I draw one dimension, then draw a second dimenion that is over top of the first dim's text the second's extension line is not hidden behind the text. If I delete the first text and redraw it, it will then hide the second dim's extension line. The proper solution is to use "Bring to Front" to fix it. But Revit is not giving me this option. I am using 2011 right now. Has this been fixed in newer versions of Revit, or did the programmers never figure we would need to do that?
All of a sudden this morning when I dimension something, my dimension text is upside down. It is only on one drawing and only on new dimensions. why nad how to correct?
I am working on a skin care product. I have modeled the tube already. i want to know the best way to texture tube on both sides, front (company logo) and back(usage instructions).
I have a little problem with the cropping tool in the new CS6 version.
In CS5 I had the oppotunity to choose "Front image" and the crop tool would copy the dimensions from the chosen image.
Now I made a mistake and cropped a picture with the wrong dimensions. Ususally I choose "original ratio", but this time I forgot. Then normally in CS5 I just choose one of the other pictures in my workspace (with the original dimensions) and hit the "front image" button, and then I got back the the picture I cropped in the wrong dimenions, and now I could easily crop it with the right dimensions.
I found another discussion in the forum that answered exactly this question, and it said "Try pressing 'R' in crop mode. It will open Crop Image Size & Resolution window, where you can choose Source: Custom, Front Image, etc."
But when I press "R" in the crop mode nothing like that comes up. Instead the opportunity to rotate comes up... :-( Not what I was looking for.
I am having trouble with the Paste in Front/Back function. I will copy my selected layers and then want to paste them in place on the selected artboard next to it and often times it pastes it back on the artboard where it copies from. Sometimes the function does what I want, but often times it pastes in a different location, either on the same artboard, or next to the artboard where I want it pasted. It also tends to slightly move the X and Y values (again, sometimes). Each time I go to paste, I am creating a new layer and selecting the artboard where I want everything pasted, but sometimes it works, and other times it doesn't. I am using CS5 on MacBook Pro.
How can I get multiple images on 1 page to line up when printing on both sides? Dimensions are 3.5x2.5, 9 to a page. They are sportscards for son's baseball team. They are slightly off by 2-3 cm on all 4 sides and in betweeen. Extremely frustrating. I tried printing in Photoshops but text is blurry. In Lightroom, Images look absolutely perfect. If they would only line up. Using a Canon MG 6200 if that matters.
How to rotate ordinate dimension text in Inventor 2014? Currently the dimensions are horizontal but I would like them to line up with the dimension lines (top and bottom dimensions are vertical)
Occasionally the text is upside down in tables (mirrored, not 180 degrees). This seems to mostly happen after I copy another table and edit the information. The mirrored text actually is hidden until you double click the cell to edit it. Now, after playing around with one of these cases I can't even select the text at all, it is completely hidden and I can't type anything in the cell.
I'm having a problem in one project. When I enter the text mode there is a cross-hair with a t on an arc. When I type text it's upside down. I've tried adjusting the direction, changing fonts still doesn't work. It doesn't happen on any other projects.
