Illustrator :: Text Not Presenting Properly When Saved As PDF - AI CS5
Jul 2, 2013
I have a document where the text as been coverted to paths. The document prints fine. However when I save the document as a PDF for distribtion, the text doesn't present properly. Particualry the l's. its only a few lettes but it is enought to make it look terrible.
There seems to be an issue with edits to DVD menus not being saved properly. This is in addition to the chapter names problem I've read about.
Whatever changes I make to the menu in the Create Disc dialog, such as adding a graphic and changing text to the Main menu, are lost upon closing the Create Disc dialog and returning back to the VSPX4 Share workspace.
In short, this is my workaround:
1. Save the current project (File > Save). 2. Click Share > Create Disc. 3. After the Create Disc dialog pops up, remove the movie that's labeled "Untitled." 4. Add the .VSP project just saved. 5. Add chapters, edit the menu text, and so forth. 6. Click the "Close" button.
The DVD chapter markers will update on the VS timeline. Previous chapter markers on the timeline are deleted. I now want to see if the edits to the menu have been saved, so:
7. Click Share > Create Disc again. 8. Remove the movie labeled "Untitled." That always comes back.
Edits I made the last time are still there.
9. Continue with adding chapter markers, editing the menu...
With my strategy, all chapter markers have to be added in the Create Disc dialog. Chapter markers on the timeline in the VS Edit workspace get passed to the Create Disc dialog, but they are associated with the movie labeled "Untitled" which I delete. There is no point in adding chapter markers to the timeline in the VS Edit workspace.
downsizing my photos useing the `save to web' option, thus reducing the pixels so that I can use them on my web site. However, something strange has suddenly happened when I use the save to web option and instead of being saved in the new smaller format, my pictures simply morph back to their origional size.
I am currently trying to make a bracelet with text engraved in the outside of it with autocad, and my current problem is that I have to make the text 3D before I can subtract it from the bracelet. I am using autocad for mac, which means I dont have the express tools, most notably textexp. I am fairly sure that, without other programs, making 3d text with autocad for mac is impossible. I have tried making text in adobe illustrator, outlining it, and exporting it to autocad, but when I explode it (with the default explode command) and extrude the text, it looks like this:
As you can see, very few of the letters get properly extruded, and some arent even effected at all. I've tested other fonts, and they all have the same problem, albeit with some differences in exactly which letters are changed. Except papyrus, in which none of the text gets extrudedhow to make outlined text from illustrator extrude properly, be my guest! The same goes if you have a different way to make 3D text.
I am having a weird problem with some files I'm getting from a third party. They are created in CS4, then saved to EPS v.10. I need the text in the file to remain live, but every time it gets saved to EPS 10, it gets outlined. URL....
I have been able to verify that ligatures is sometimes the culprit, but I think there's something in the way this one person is creating the files that's causing the problem. I've opened hundreds of EPS 10 files from other users that have live type. Yet when I take this one person's original AI file and down-save it, the text gets outlined.
It's a very simple file - no transparency or other red flags that I can see. At first I thought maybe it was just the font, but I have used the same font in tests, and down-saved to v.10, with no text outlining.
Our company recently upgraded to the Creative Cloud, but our problem occurs with our customers who have yet to upgrade from CS5. We provide the files in PDF format, but unlike with .ai files, I can't find a way to save a PDF in CS6 making it fully compatible with CS5. It's of course possible to open the PDF in CS5, but the text gets fragmented into clusters of sometimes words, sometimes a few letters, which makes it unwieldy for customers who need to edit the original.
Is there any way I can save a PDF in CS6 so it retains the text as in the original, when opened in CS5?
i have a text saved in PNG is a text designed with an image.how can i select the outline in illustrator? in photoshop i need 3 click, open it, click rapid selection and click the image = done in illustrator what i have to do? i am capable only of open the file...
Got a question: Before I installed 11.0.1 my Bridge icon would turn to a colored icon when I hovered over it. Now, after the update it simply goes white when I hover over it - as do all the other icons. It seems that there might be a setting for this? Where did I go wrong? I have a Nvidia 7800 card which was updated months ago. As a last ditch effort I updated the latest driver today (4-2-07). (6.14.11.8250)
Reinstalling PS CS4 (11.0) would be a giant pain and eat up a lot of my time. Any suggestions?
I have a need to edit the channels independently (the values in my image mean things numerically rather than just what it looks like visually - so I need to edit the grayscale values in each of the R - G - B - and A channels seperately).
I've searched through google and other forum posts and others bring up the concept of not understanding alpha versus transparency - but I have yet to see an explanation that fully explains what I'm experiencing. The closest was [URL]... But while I saw the exact same symptoms being described, the specific question was never really answered.
While, I'm specifically working with an RGBA image, below is a screenshot of a PNG that demonstrates the exact same behavior or symptom. The screenshot below represents the PNG inside GIMP and PS CS4. BTW, if you'd like to see or play with the image yourself, you can grab the same image at [URL]...
GIMP, interestingly enough loads the PNG as expected - I see the transparency of the image treated as a true alpha channel. In PS CS4 however, the transparency seems to be somehow embedded in the Red - Green - and Blue channels; but NO seperate alpha channel.
I can create the alpha channel through Select - Load Selection - Layer 0 Transparency - and pasting that into a newly created alpha channel - but the color channels still have the transparency mixture symptom - rather than showing the JUST the color component of that channel. (Note the channel differences of the GIMP's Red Channel versus PS's Red Channel - Said in another way, the yellow ball in the upper left of the image should have a red value of 255, so the Red Channels grayscale upper left ball should be white like it is in GIMP, rather than Gray as it is in PS).
I haven't found quite the right explanation. As best as I have gleened "Alpha", which can be applied to any kind of channel, typically is in reference to transparency - and is applied as a document-whole transparency (as opposed to transparencies applied at a layer level - such as a layer mask).
With a part that has 6 bends to be made… is it possible to present only 5 bends on one drawing, and the last one on another drawing??
For example:
I have 6 bends to make on “Backliner-01.ipt” and this is what I have to present:
A first drawing, showing 5 of the bends. On my second drawing, hardware is installed. On the third drawing, showing that the last assembly has to be bent. On the last drawing, a final assembly… that has to show all of the parts (not only the assembly's).
I'm currently using Autocad 2012 to design a land layout consisting of contour lines, roads, a restaurant, 2 parking lots, 4 little shops, a common area, and a walking path. The thing is, for the class I need to present my ideas in a better fashion than just looking at a 2D schematic from Autocad. I'm looking for the best program to use to easily construct walls for the shops, have car models in the parking lots, make the grass green, etc, and be able to almost create an animation walking through the site.
I have just installed an AutoCAD LT 2012 in my PC, and I am having problem of reading a file created by my colleague using AutoCad 2010. I tried the TrueView, and it is no use. The problem I am facing is the background is Black instead of white, and the text is not aligned properly.
I'm trying to print a block of black text in LR 4.4. It looks just fine when I go into the PRINT module but when the text prints, the letters have a fine black outline but most of the character is white.
I want to do some text animations. However, when I place in my text layer and type in my text it comes up a a bunch of black blocks, as per my screen shot.
I am using Adobe Photoshop CS3. I have a spreadsheet of Greek translations. When I copy and paste the text into Photoshop, certain characters are missed out or replaced with an incorrect one. I have tried downloading fonts that support the Greek character set, but still no luck. If I paste this text into any other applications (Word, explorer etc) the text displays properly. I was wandering if there is a setting or anything in photoshop that I need to change?
We use linestyles for utilities such as w for water, s for sewer etc. linestyles look like --w--w--w--w--. in Autocod 2004, if you reverse direction of line or rotate line 180 degrees drawn with this linestyle, the w's would look like m's because text reversed with line (this is what i want to happen) in Autocad 2012 and 2013, when i draw a line with the same linestyle, the text will not reverse, even if i manually rotate the line 180 degrees, the w still reads w and not m. is this a system variable, mirrtext did not work.
Yesterday I installed the newest GIMP 2.8 version for map making. I want to make a great map of USA/Mexico.Everything works fine except the most important thing for me, which is wrapping the text along the path.
The text is usually distorted and away from the path. This is how I do it:
Tools -> Paths -> make the path on map by right clicking left click on just made path -> Tools -> Text right click on text -> click on Text Along Path
Ever since I've installed CS6 my Text tool has not been working properly AT ALL. a Number of problems
1. I cant resize using the 00.pt at all. If I switch from 72 to 48 (or any other number) it will stay the same 2. manually rezising also causes issues, I don't get a full preview of the text even after sized. its cut off at 50%-75% height 3. the bounding box doesn't even go outside the entire object. its usually about 20% of the height 4. it often needs to "load" I've NEVER seen this before.
Is there a way to force text pulled from a drawing property to wrap to fit a cell of Mtext? In otherwords,... a multi line field? Some of our drawing titles are several lines, and instead of wrapping inside the field box in our titleblock, the text just spreads out all over. I'd rather not go back to the old method of having a custom property for Line 1, Line 2 etc....
I'm drawing a gas line (the one that says gas throughout the length of the line) and i can't seem to scale the text 'gas' properly, it seems that it is all squashing up and i cant make out what it says. I've tried ltscale, psltscale and the actual linetype scale of the line to no avail. I'm sure this is a simple problem, i just cant work it out.
When I have to scale something after bringing it in from another drawing (Windows copy, paste), usually (but strangely not always, it seems) the dimension text and arrows are all messed up. If I scale down, they are (obviously) way too big, up, and they are microscopic. How is this best avoided / dealt with? I imagine it is something with the DIMSTYLE not being copied over or something?
I installed acad 2014 and copied all my font files into the directory that cad says it looks in under the support paths, and the main font used is a true text font (penguin) and it is not showing up right.
When I xref a drawing created by Practicad into my host drawing, the text size shows up less than half its normal size. This occurs regardless of choosing or not choosing any of the radio button options in the proxy info box that pops up when I open the drawing. It happens on both my desktop and laptop. Practicad (MetaLab Inc.) web-x'd into my computer and confirmed the enabler is installed and the issue has noyhing to do with them. My host drawing scale is set to the same scale as the xref.
I was desiging images for my children and I was having difficulty with the colors- I would select a color from the color picker and a different shade/color would be applied to the text. Hoping it was a RAM issue, I just restarted my computer and it resolved itself. Easy enough. I completed the designs and went about my day.
Today, I'm working on a project for someone else and it's doing it again. I've restarted the computer and I've reset settings on Illustrator to the default but neither of these things resolved the problem.
In an attempt to make sure I wasn't going crazy, I took a screen shot of the text I'm attempting to color and the color picker box showing the color I was trying to choose. The selected color was R 6 G 6 B 249. I opened the image in paint and with the eyedropper tool selected the color that was actually applied and that color is R 61 G 93 B 171- so clearly not the same color at all. I then opened it in Photoshop to determine if it was an Adobe problem or just an Illustrator problem. With the eyedropper tool, I got the same results that I did in paint. Illustrator is definitely not applying the colors correctly.
I have a problem with Illustrator CS6: anytime I try to export file to PNG, it saves a file of exactly 102 kb and the file is essentially empty. Is it a bug in Illustrator.
I frequently save layouts I do in Photoshop as PDF's. Lately I very often will discover the text does not display correctly in the PDF. One or two lines of text will display as white with a thin black outline, rather than as the basic solid black I'd specified.
I work on a Windows 7 machine with the current version of PS. The text is on layers when I save the file to PDF (from PS), but I do not include the layers in the PDF, so they should be flattening down.
I noticed a few weeks ago when it was also doing this that I updated the program a day later and the PDF's were not exhibiting this issue. But, now it's starting again.
I have spent the entire day trying to solve this and I finally found a fix but not the cause. I have tried all the typical ways to sync/read/render to see the xmp data in LR.
After all of this I found the only way for me to see the xmp data is to open the xmp as a text document then save it go into lightroom read metadata and it shows up. This obviously isnt a workable solution for thousands of files so I need to find a cause.
So a little info. I'm using LR5 on a windows. I edit clients images then send them the xmp files with those edits. I have one client thats photos when imported do not show metadata or develop adjustments. This is the only solution I have found to see the info. I believe they are using LR 4 and a MAC.
Is it possible that the problem is the original files are saved on a mac then transfered to my windows machine.
AS3: In component list my icon and label text are not align properly, when app is started, label text is over icon and when I put mouse pointer over any item in the list then alignment it's ok.
This is when I test flash app: And when I put mouse pointer over any item, alignment of icon and label is ok! Here is code:
My Gradient Tool no longer shows the Gradient Tool Annotator over a selected object. Did I turn something off that I don't know about? Recently updated my CS5 version to try and fix but no luck.
