My Gradient Tool no longer shows the Gradient Tool Annotator over a selected object. Did I turn something off that I don't know about? Recently updated my CS5 version to try and fix but no luck.
View 2 Repliesam using Photoshop CC and just the other day my gradient tool started acting strange - when I go to apply a gradient on a layer or a layer mask, I will drag the gradient and then if I try to drag it from a different angle to add to it, it erases what I've done and starts a new gradient from that angle. I've never had this issue, is there some setting I need to have adjusted?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a photo that i want to apply several gradients from each side so it is see through on all 4 sides.
What i do is i add a vector mask to the layer and then choose the gradient tool from the left toolbar which is located next to paint bucket.
I apply my first gradient on the left side of the photo, and it works like its supposed to.
However when i apply another gradient from the top, right or bottom of the photo, it cancels out the first gradient and applies the gradient. I cant apply several gradients one after the other.
Anyone have any ideas?
i'm trying to draw something on my screen with a pen tool but after drawing a simple letter L i get this.What's doing this? how can I fix it?

View 3 Replies View RelatedFor some bizarre reason, no matter what tool I select in the tool bar the only icon that will show up on the canvas is the hand tool, I can't change it and consequently I can't do anything but move the image around.
I have installed all the updates and patches, I have tried everything I can think of to solve it and get back to work but no other tools will work.
I am having problems with the free style tools, brush tool, lasso tool, etc. when I open Photoshop everything works fine but as soon as I press any key, the brush tool makes just one dot instead of a line, I can't slide any adjustment bars, like to make opacity from 0% to 100% or change diameter of the brush, any movement in the mouse is like I just made a single click, I wait around 10 minutes and everything is ok again.

Here's my problem: Once I have selected my Source, I go to the area of the picture I want to modify and Left-Click and start to drag to cover the area I want to modify. Once I reach my end point, I release my mouse button. In doing so, the area I just modified returns to its original look before I modified it.
I have tried everything I can think of and nothing seems to work
Ever since I've installed CS6 my Text tool has not been working properly AT ALL. a Number of problems
1. I cant resize using the 00.pt at all. If I switch from 72 to 48 (or any other number) it will stay the same
2. manually rezising also causes issues, I don't get a full preview of the text even after sized. its cut off at 50%-75% height
3. the bounding box doesn't even go outside the entire object. its usually about 20% of the height
4. it often needs to "load" I've NEVER seen this before.
Its also since caused problems to CS5.
I used the liquify tool on a selected area of a picture and it worked fine. Well, now when I select my area and try to use it, it just slightly warps the area and does nothing else. The liquify screen and options never come up. I think it's just repeating what I did in liquify the last time I used it instead of giving me the option to do what I need to do. It just won't let me do ANYTHING with the tool other than the warping(what I think is the "repeating" of the previous uses effects) everything else in photoshop is working fine for me, this is the only problem I'm having. Before this, it would just crash when I tried to open liquify but I fixed that by changing the video codecs/plugins to the ones that work with it so that is no longer a problem, it doesn't freeze or anything. So why is it just repeating what I did last time?
View 2 Replies View Relatedwhy my ellipse tool doesnt work. I used it the other day ( to draw a cirlce, obviously!). I had set the shape to be a fixed size (675 by 700 pixels) and clicked on the canvas to create the shape. This worked fine but when i went to use it again it wouldnt work. It allows me to select the tool and when i click and drag on the canvas a new layer is created but no image appears. I've tried the obviuos; putting the layer on top of all the others, checking the settings (opacity etc) but nothing seems to work.

Even though I select the gradient tab, have the central circle highlighted (black dot showing) and have the three lines showing; when I attempt to adjust levels within the selected zone, the whole picture changes. Depending on image gradient area is either one third to half, horizontally, sky or foreground.
I have tried it on other images, restarting Lightroom and rebooting PC, nothing seems to change it.
I also have it installed on my laptop, running 64-bit Home and it works fine.
Did a photographic course yesterday and my images could be manipulated whether on their pc or my laptop. Brought them back home and no go on the desktop again?
i'm trying to fade out the last few inches of a photograph so it blends more seamlessly into backgrounds it's placed onto.If I use the gradient tool, set to "Foreground to Transparent" I get the proper effect, but instead of fading to transparent it fades to white.. which dosen't work when I move the layer over a coloured background.
I've read and watched many tutorials on this, and they all say to create a layer mask, and then use the gradient tool.. but for some reason anytime I have the layer mask selected the gradient tool won't work at all..
I have cannot paint in black to conceal on a layer mask. I have "NORMAL" mode set and the foreground color is set to black. When I paint or use the gradient tool in "normal" mode with black it paints to transparent.Before the upgrade it was normal. I have this problem on both CS6 apps pc-and-laptop.

Whenever I use a Shape tool for which the up and down arrow keys change its attributes, the up and down arrow keys skip several states. So for example, a star can go from 5 points to 12 points if I tap the up arrow key once, skipping 6 - 11 pointed stars entirely. It happens with polygons, spirals, and the flare tool as well.
I tried using a different keyboard, but the problem persisted. I also used my keyboard with another computer and Illustrator behaved just fine. So it's definitely a problem with the software.
I'm trying to add a gradient to my text but it seems like it's not working anymore. It was working just yesterday.I've browsed other discussions and it seems like a "Type" problem. However I tried adding a Fill and it still does not work.
View 4 Replies View RelatedThe color swatches in toolbar for fill and stroke are not functioning as they should. When I select an object on the artboard, the swatches display fine in the toolbar for what they should be. However, when I double-click on those swatches from within the toolbar to modify the color, the color which comes up is #000000 instead of the actual color it should be.
I am using 16.2.1 (cloud) for Mac OS 10.8.2
I've submitted a bug report.
Also, the eyedropper tool is buggy and occasionally places the #000000 into an object instead of the characteristics the eyedropper is selecting. I don't have any hidden layers or weird groupings, it just randomly decides when it is going to work or not.
I've never had these issues on previous versions of illustrator and have been proficient in all versions since 2007.
Updated Illustrator to CC and now my apply gradient to stroke is acting funny (also does it with apply along stroke). First i can't get it to show up unless I find a number it likes (start out with 1 pt, don't see a stoke so increase size 1 pt at a time up to 11 to see it) now the corners have gotten strange, They seem to be missing small patches. You can see in the image I am not doing anything fancy, it's type and then just to make sure it wasn't a font problem I tried just a rectangle. It seems to be worst with corner set to round joint.

Recently, I started using Adobe Illustrator and watched many tutorials for the basics of it (coming from Photoshop) but one thing that I'm not too comfortable with is the gradient tool in Illustrator compared to the one in Photoshop.
I keep reading that the only way to adjust the colours is to either use the colours in the swatches or the mini colour slider but is there a way to choose the colours like you can in Photoshop?
I am trying to sample color of a photo on a lower layer in a gradient mesh layer above. It doesn't work in Illustrator CS6, but it works in CS4.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI've noticed that the Gradient Tool won't show up when inside a Live Paint group, which makes it difficult to edit gradients. Is it supposed to be like this?
It is still possible to edit the gradient using the Gradient Panel, but I prefer to use the Gradient Tool instead because of it's direct approach.
Also, when selecting multiple areas within a Live Paint group to fill with a gradient, I don't seem to be able to Alt+Drag with the Gradient Tool in order to fill each selection with it's own gradient. It always ends up with one gradient being applied across all of the selections.
I am trying to acheive the same angle gradient effect that can be done in Photoshop but in Illustrator. The actual thing I want to be able to create as a vector is the graphic attached...
Can this be done by somehow using the blend tool and replacing the spline with a circle?
I keep having issues with the text tool so here is what i did. I opened a new document, clicked the "Type tool", drew a box with it and starting typing, now everything was working as it should, while typing when i would get to the right side of the "Type tool" box i had drawn, the text would stay within the box and the next line would begin sorte of like this (asume the imaginary box is four spaces long):

But then i started to do the same thing later in the project and the text would stay on one line and just disappear when it got to the end of the box, and i dont know how to get it working like it did before. When reshaping the box the text would stay the same size (was not a point type problem) but the text would basically just run off the end of the box and disappear, here is an example using the same text i showed above, but i'll use "b" to simulate the last four "a" lines which in this case the "b"'s will represent the invisible "a"'s. In this case the box is still four spaces wide and 5 spaces in height, but the text does not seem to acknowledge the box. And member i'm only using the "type tool", to draw these boxes, i'm not acutally drawing square shapes. Also i'm using Illustrator CC, and am using a mac.
When I right-click on a tool, the menu doesn't appear. The default tool is my only option.
