I'm trying to add a gradient to my text but it seems like it's not working anymore. It was working just yesterday.I've browsed other discussions and it seems like a "Type" problem. However I tried adding a Fill and it still does not work.

My Gradient Tool no longer shows the Gradient Tool Annotator over a selected object. Did I turn something off that I don't know about? Recently updated my CS5 version to try and fix but no luck.
View 2 Replies View RelatedUpdated Illustrator to CC and now my apply gradient to stroke is acting funny (also does it with apply along stroke). First i can't get it to show up unless I find a number it likes (start out with 1 pt, don't see a stoke so increase size 1 pt at a time up to 11 to see it) now the corners have gotten strange, They seem to be missing small patches. You can see in the image I am not doing anything fancy, it's type and then just to make sure it wasn't a font problem I tried just a rectangle. It seems to be worst with corner set to round joint.

I'm not able to see anything in the Appearance panel that gives me a hint. It may be obvious to someone without even needing to open the file . . . see pictures attached.

GetPathStyle (myArt, &pathArtStyle);
pathArtStyle.strokePaint = false;

pathArtStyle.fill.color.c.b.gradient = myGradient;

I am new to Illustrator having had to switch from FreeHand recently and can't figure out how to get gradients to flow through non-touching objects. The "merge" option here treats things differently than FreeHand did and only works with paths that overlap.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm creating text that will be printed on a deep gray to black tshirt.
I created text, added an offset path to it with a gradient, and a deep gray color fill on top, achieving the gradient stroke. However, I'm not exactly sure what color the shirt itself will be, other than deep gray to black. And I didn't want the deep gray/black fill in my text to appear and look awkward on the shirt. Unless that is something I shouldn't be considered about.
To be safe, how would you create transparent text with a gradient stroke? I'm using Illustrator CS5.
Just passing along this preview "glitch" in CS5 that could cause some headaches or costly reprints.
We had a file where some text "appeared"on screen as a solid fill even though it was mistakenly filled with a gradient in the colour panel.
When the job was output the type was missing.
Upon investigation it was noted the text was filled with a gradient through the color panel....however the preview did not reflect this. The proper way to apply a gradient to text is in the appearance panel> add new fill>gradient.
This will preview the gradient in the text properly. Shouldn't there be an friendly error message or pop up to warn users that this fill option is not available?
I am using CS6. I have created some text with a gradient fill. I have converted it to shapes before addin the Fill. I appear to get a slight black shadow arround the letters. This appears to get worse when I Export it to png with a transparent background. This black shadow is not a stoke that I have added.
How can I remove this black effect?

I have an illustrator file with some text flowed in and the area type options setup to create two columns. I would like to have a paragraph break move to the second column using some sort of column break (number enter key in indesign). Is this possible in illustrator?

am using Photoshop CC and just the other day my gradient tool started acting strange - when I go to apply a gradient on a layer or a layer mask, I will drag the gradient and then if I try to drag it from a different angle to add to it, it erases what I've done and starts a new gradient from that angle. I've never had this issue, is there some setting I need to have adjusted?

which i also foiled last year to blend my images and it worked, but for some reason nothing is happening this time i try it, and what im doing differently to what i did last year!
I have attached an image of what im trying to do but it doesn't seem to be working at all.
I have a gradient in CS6 which I have set from 0% white to 100% Spot Color then back to 0% white as I want the gradient to be transparent at the edges.
For some reason the 0% is not displaying as transparent on the screen, even though in the Gradient editor it does show the transparency is there.
I was wondering if anyone had any idea about this problem that I've been having. For some reason when I create a gradient that goes to zero opacity on either end it gets all scattered.
It was working fine and now I've reinstalled it in Windows Vista 64bit. I remember I had this problem the first time I installed it as well but then I turned the update on and it just went away before I really cared too much. Now I've got the update on and went and downloaded the 10.1 from the website and it's starting to bother me .....
I have a photo that i want to apply several gradients from each side so it is see through on all 4 sides.
What i do is i add a vector mask to the layer and then choose the gradient tool from the left toolbar which is located next to paint bucket.
I apply my first gradient on the left side of the photo, and it works like its supposed to.
However when i apply another gradient from the top, right or bottom of the photo, it cancels out the first gradient and applies the gradient. I cant apply several gradients one after the other.
Anyone have any ideas?
I've got a real problem here with the Script-fu Gradient Overlay. Every time I try to use it and click on any of the buttons - see screenshot for full list - it shuts Gimp down. There's no warnings, Gimp just suddenly vanishes and if anything is being worked on then all the changes are lost.

Even though I select the gradient tab, have the central circle highlighted (black dot showing) and have the three lines showing; when I attempt to adjust levels within the selected zone, the whole picture changes. Depending on image gradient area is either one third to half, horizontally, sky or foreground.
I have tried it on other images, restarting Lightroom and rebooting PC, nothing seems to change it.
I also have it installed on my laptop, running 64-bit Home and it works fine.
Did a photographic course yesterday and my images could be manipulated whether on their pc or my laptop. Brought them back home and no go on the desktop again?
i'm trying to fade out the last few inches of a photograph so it blends more seamlessly into backgrounds it's placed onto.If I use the gradient tool, set to "Foreground to Transparent" I get the proper effect, but instead of fading to transparent it fades to white.. which dosen't work when I move the layer over a coloured background.
I've read and watched many tutorials on this, and they all say to create a layer mask, and then use the gradient tool.. but for some reason anytime I have the layer mask selected the gradient tool won't work at all..
I have cannot paint in black to conceal on a layer mask. I have "NORMAL" mode set and the foreground color is set to black. When I paint or use the gradient tool in "normal" mode with black it paints to transparent.Before the upgrade it was normal. I have this problem on both CS6 apps pc-and-laptop.

I am specifically concerned about the inability to drag global color swatches from the color panel to Gradient stops in the Gradient Panel. I use this method to update a gradient color because I find it MUCH faster than option-dragging to duplicate a stop color, then deleting the unused stop. Since I do this constantly, I find using CS6 very tedious.
Im making a nba2k9 cover and the logo for nba 2k9 is white n red. i can color them different colors with the paintbucket but as seein in this link the guy making them can do different gradients? it looks really cool. cant contact him as i have to join their monthly pay plans. The logo is just one picture that he cut from the logo
so i want to color the words as seen in this picture. as you can see they are orange and blue and have that cool white glow in them.
I'm trying to apply a gradient to a piece of text. I do this by using the magic wand tool to select the text I want the gradient applied to and apply it.
However, after deselecting the selection, I can see that the gradient has aliased edges that are very visable at 100% zoom.
I am having a problem with my Text to Path, specifically, I want to apply a gradient to my text, however when I make my path and select my text, the outline only appears over part of my text and thus I am not able to apply the gradient to the entire block.

It seems like there is a character limit for this type of text, because I added some characters and it shrunk my selected area further.
I'm trying to make some text have a gradient color. I write the text, simplify it and then use the gradient tool normally, however, it's applying the gradient to the entire layer instead of just the text. how to add the gradient and followed the insturctions but it's still not working.

I've tried applying the gradient before extruding it but as soon as you make it 3D the gradient dissapears. And there doesn't seem any options to apply a gradient in the inflation material layer. I'm sure this is possible though

I thought it would be nice to create some page titles in photoshop instead of using regular fonts.
Something that has always stumped me, is whenever I have created text on top of a transparent background using photoshop, saved for web, gif @ 256 colours and applied to the webpage, no matter what I do the text always look frazzled around the edges. Is there a technique to creating transparent text that looks smooth?
Do I need to increase the dpi?

I want to create a gradient fill, top to bottom of some text.To do this, I'm creating my text in a solid colour (can't seem to find a gradient fill on the text tool), then wand selecting the background inverting the selection then applying a gradient.
Unfortunately, applying the fill seems to make the text lose all smoothness (anti-aliasing?).I've tried feathering (using Boltbait) but even at 1 it's too aggressive and the text ends up too skinny.
How to maintain the anti-aliasing but also have a gradient.
