Illustrator :: CS6 Does Not Save PNGs Properly?
May 19, 2012I have a problem with Illustrator CS6: anytime I try to export file to PNG, it saves a file of exactly 102 kb and the file is essentially empty. Is it a bug in Illustrator.

View 3 RepliesMy team and I have been having issues with generate image assets not saving png files correctly. Photoshop has been saving them with the png extension, but the file has a white background like a jpg. Has there been in recent updates that may be causing this?

View 1 Replies View RelatedTill X3 Photo-Paint opened and saved transparent PNGs as a seperate image with attached mask.Example:I have an image and load a B/W mask into it.
When I save this as PNG and reload it in X3, Photo-Paint displays again exactly what I have just saved:
However when I open this same PNG in X6, the image and mask get merged into a single object:
It's in effect doing automatically a "create object from selection" function and discards then the background. Why? I can't work with the full background image anymore, because the transparent parts are missing, and the mask is also gone. Is there no way to open the full PNG, without any merging and deleting of masks, just the way X3 was doing it?Also, the only way to save a transparent PNG in X6 is to check "save only selected objects"? When I don't check this, but still check "transparency" in the PNG export dialogue, then the mask won't be saved nonetheless.
Is there a way, to export grouped items out as a png file? I got like 19 artboards with a lot of groups on each. All these groups has to be png files, so I can animate them in After Effects.
Right now I am copy/pasting the groups into a new illustrator file saying "save for web and devices" but it takes to long time if there is an easier way
I have made a layout for an iPhone app in Illustrator. When I export an artboard with a size of 160 x 90 px to png with 326 ppi, the size ot the image I get out of it is 724 x 408 px with 326 ppi. Also if I copy and paste the object to Photoshop it has the same growth.
I'd like to make pixel-sharp design, so what is the best way to do it?
I'm looking for a script that allows me to export custom views (created via "View > New View") into separate png files.
I've already found some great scripts that export Layers or Artboards but nothing for Views.
It seems Illustrator's "Views" are the closest equivalent to Photoshop's Layer Comps.
Photoshop has always had issues with pointing to plugins, or old plugins moving to the new software.

downsizing my photos useing the `save to web' option, thus reducing the pixels so that I can use them on my web site. However, something strange has suddenly happened when I use the save to web option and instead of being saved in the new smaller format, my pictures simply morph back to their origional size.
I have saved my gif images in Photoshop 6 with transparency using the Save for Web option. When I import the image into SWISH (an application for making Flash movies) the images have a hazy look where the transparency would be. how I can clear this up?
View 1 Replies View RelatedThere is still an issue with making new actions that include saving for web. While recording the action, save for web functions as it should. But once the action is played, regardless of the original format the saved image should be, it gives it an html filename extension.

I have spoken about this bug with a friend that is a computer programmer. Considering that the action is saving the file correctly, and it's only the name that is not saving properly indicates that this is a superficial error, and not an issue that would require rewriting the code completely. Also consider that this WAS functioning properly in CS5, and that this is a very easily reproducible bug.
After I've finished editing or combining photos, I try to save them and all that gets saved is a blank image. How do I get the program to save my images properly?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI was desiging images for my children and I was having difficulty with the colors- I would select a color from the color picker and a different shade/color would be applied to the text. Hoping it was a RAM issue, I just restarted my computer and it resolved itself. Easy enough. I completed the designs and went about my day.
Today, I'm working on a project for someone else and it's doing it again. I've restarted the computer and I've reset settings on Illustrator to the default but neither of these things resolved the problem.
In an attempt to make sure I wasn't going crazy, I took a screen shot of the text I'm attempting to color and the color picker box showing the color I was trying to choose. The selected color was R 6 G 6 B 249. I opened the image in paint and with the eyedropper tool selected the color that was actually applied and that color is R 61 G 93 B 171- so clearly not the same color at all. I then opened it in Photoshop to determine if it was an Adobe problem or just an Illustrator problem. With the eyedropper tool, I got the same results that I did in paint. Illustrator is definitely not applying the colors correctly.
I have a document where the text as been coverted to paths. The document prints fine. However when I save the document as a PDF for distribtion, the text doesn't present properly. Particualry the l's. its only a few lettes but it is enought to make it look terrible.
Platforom is Windows 7

View 3 Replies View RelatedPrior to printing my work, I save PDF versions of my files. More often than I'd like, when I print the PDF file from my computer, some of the graphics do not print correctly. For example, a portion of a curved graphic (like a swirl) might be cut off leaving a blunt straight edge. Have issues with PDF files? Is there anything I can do to control this quality issue?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIllustrator is not processing red properly. It is more than showing up - almost far too much saturation with only the red. If that makes sense. I am using CMYK since the work will be printed out. The color is not wrong until printed - everything seems to be fine till then. This is with both images AND work created on Illustrator. Images of people are where the problem shows up the most of course - makes them look like they are on fire from the inside out.
I am printing out images on a HPDesignjet T790 from Illustrator on a Mac - and have run all of the tests to see where the issue is coming from. Results show that it is not the printer, not the Mac, and is Illustrator.
CMYK is selected in document, as well as in Printer Menu.
I'm drawing some objects in illustrator and when I stroke it, it's clear that the color is not staying or not matching the object. I took a picture of it.. I drew a lot, but this is the first time that it is happening.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI need to access certain unicode characters (namely the x/8 fractions). I have the appropriate font installed, and the characters display in every other program on the machine, but they are not displaying correctly in Illustrator. If I type the characters in using alt codes, the 3/8 character displays as "", the 1/8 character displays as "[", etc. Is there some setting I need to change to enable support for Unicode characters?
If I type the character in another program, copy it, and paste it into Illustrator, it shows up as a box with an X through it. If I highlight the box and change the font to one that supports the character, then the character does display correctly. Is there a way to type the character directly into Illustrator?
I used to be able to copy a shape in Illustrator, paste it in Photoshop, and then duplicate the shape layer, removing what I wanted from each layer.
Now that doesn't seem to work, and what's worse, strokes are all messed up - if I apply a stroke to the whole layer, it isn't all visible. If I delete parts of the layer that are unwanted, certain pieces remain invisible, even if I apply a stroke (and fill, for that matter).
I produced a colour map and colour gradient legend as a postscript file (.ps) using generic mapping tools software running under linux. When I import this file into illustrator (in windows 8) the colour map is fine, but the colour gradient does not display properly. It appears as a bunch of white spaces and vertical colour bands of random colour. When I then try to export the file as a .pdf the colour gradient appears as solid blue. I've also tried producing a .pdf instead of .ps but it makes no difference.
It's worth noting that I have done this in the past with no problems. This particular problem first occurred a few months ago and is now persistent.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen using the gradient mesh tool or paintbrush in Illustrator - the technique is not reflected ACCURATELY on the screen. For example when painting with a red brush - the screen shows a different color. Sometimes a different magnification will resolve the issue other times it will not.
Running MAC OS6 10.7.5 This is currently happening in Illustrator CS6 Illustrator 5.5 is also on the machine too.
I'm trying Illustrator CC 17.1 under Mac OS X 1.8.5 with Mac Pro with two monitors Apple Cinema and NVIDIA Quadro FX 5600 1536 MB Video Card.
Can't use it on Full Screen Mode because the hover effect use it to show tools and panels don't works o both sides and on both monitors.
Seems to be Illustrator CC don't support two monitors under full screen mode on Mac OS X.
I have to import a set of png's from Photoshop to Edge Animate. The actual source file is a Photoshop psd but I cannot import the psd into Edge so I have to painstakingly export each layer as a png and there are over 40 layers. Is there a way to take a layered Photoshop file and turn those layers into transparent pngs so when they import to Edge or another app the layers would remain intact but just as png's?
View 2 Replies View RelatedW/ 6 & I think 7, in order to create a transparent png I would have to save the file (single layer PSD w/ transparancy) and open it up in Image Ready, or click on the image ready button to send the image over. Then I would have to select PNG and optimize it, and it would save the transparency.
If I would try to do this all within PS, the transparent areas are saved as white, so the image was not transparent.
Do I still have to do this w/ CS, or can you really save truley transparent pngs within Photoshop now?
I'd like to transition to .PNGs for my web graphics. I use a lot of transparent .GIFs for buttons and so forth. I know that .PNGs have transparency, but is there a way to do that in Photoshop with .PNGs?
