Illustrator :: Text Getting Converted To Outlines When Saved As EPS 10

I am having a weird problem with some files I'm getting from a third party. They are created in CS4, then saved to EPS v.10. I need the text in the file to remain live, but every time it gets saved to EPS 10, it gets outlined. URL....
I have been able to verify that ligatures is sometimes the culprit, but I think there's something in the way this one person is creating the files that's causing the problem. I've opened hundreds of EPS 10 files from other users that have live type. Yet when I take this one person's original AI file and down-save it, the text gets outlined.
It's a very simple file - no transparency or other red flags that I can see. At first I thought maybe it was just the font, but I have used the same font in tests, and down-saved to v.10, with no text outlining.

I'm playing with the 3D tools in Photoshop CS5 Extended for a friend. He provided an .obj file of a tool part and it opens just fine as a complex, shaded object.
Question: Is there a way to generate simple outlines of the object and export those outlines as paths to Illustrator?

I try to export an Illustrator file as JPG and CMYK and it will always results as and outline text without fill.

Here are my export settings [URL] ....
I changed them to try a diferent output but nothing will modify.
Finally i saved the file as PDF and then exported as JPG but the resolution is not very good besides i would like to be able to export directly from AI where i have more control settings.

I am an invitation designer. I use my own post script printer for printing. I get a better print quality when I convert text to outlines, but I was wondering .. is there any difference if I convert text to outlines by using Type --> Create outlines or if I do it from the Overprint and Transparency Flattener Options window in the advanced print settings?

So I have text that I would like warp in an Arc. I will be cutting this on a plotter. WHen I use the envelope distort the envelope blocks my text in outline mode. If I go to Effect>Arc the warp only occurs in preview but the outlines do not change as the plotter would see it.
I'm sure there is some way to warp text into an arc and have the outlines remain visible and warped for the plottter to cut, no?

Why do blocks appears behind text when converting to outlines? This only effects some text, even though the font and character attributes are the same.

Is there a way to select all of the text on all artboards and CREATE OUTLINES using Javascript? The text that Adobe provides for scripting has this option for saving to FXGs which is preserveTextPolicy or something similar, but I need the same type of solution for saving as an AI file or as a command before the save. I'm currently working in windows, but am writing this script for use on a MAC. If there isn't an internal way of doing this through Javascript? I would imagine it would be possible through Applescript since it can access the application's GUI, but I'm not sure. A javascript solution would be preferable, but any solution would work at this point.

I'm trying to create a logo whose letters have an image in them - which I've got figured out (turning letters to outlines, creating clipping mask with image). The trouble is, once the image is inside the letters, I can't figure out how to then give the letters a thin stroke outline. Is this possible? The image I've placed is high contrast black and white, so when I create the clipping mask, large chunks of the letters disappear.

I am saving a PDF from Illustrator CS4 that contains only 100% black text. My print provider is telling me that the text in the PDF has been converted to 4C, rich black. I have tried all different PDF creation settings (high quality, press quality, PDFX3, default) from Illustrator but nothing works. How can I create a PDF that maintains 100% black and prevents it from converting to process black?

I have a document where the text as been coverted to paths. The document prints fine. However when I save the document as a PDF for distribtion, the text doesn't present properly. Particualry the l's. its only a few lettes but it is enought to make it look terrible.

Our company recently upgraded to the Creative Cloud, but our problem occurs with our customers who have yet to upgrade from CS5. We provide the files in PDF format, but unlike with .ai files, I can't find a way to save a PDF in CS6 making it fully compatible with CS5. It's of course possible to open the PDF in CS5, but the text gets fragmented into clusters of sometimes words, sometimes a few letters, which makes it unwieldy for customers who need to edit the original.
Is there any way I can save a PDF in CS6 so it retains the text as in the original, when opened in CS5?

When opening a prior version CDR the RGB black text is converted to CMYK, othere RGB objects remain RGB. This is a big problem for me as printed blacks will be dark brown not K.

I have a friend still using PS 5.5, OK, OK it's me. How would I create a SHARP outline around text or anything else. I've tried outerglow, stroke and expanding the selection. The problem is, wherever the font or shape has a sharp or 90 degree angle, the outline rounds off at that point.

I am trying to recreate a 'retro' style postcard, with 3d block lettering. I was able to create the 3d text, but I'm got stumped when it came to getting an outline to run along all of the 'lines' of the text and shadow (I'm trying to make it look like old hand drawn block letters). I'm attaching an example of the look I'm going for, as well as where I got to before I was stumped. As you can see, I was able to get the outline for each letter to go around the entire letter and shadow, but I want each of the 'lines' to go around the letter, the shadow, and the lines connecting the two (like it is in the example).

Recently any outlines that I put on Text or Objects has been coming out "Notched".
I cannot be certain when this started happening, but i have tested files I have created in X6, saved down to X3 and printed from a different computer (running X3) with the same result.
Even PDFs created from this installation of X6 have this outline issue.
I have uninstalled my printer and reinstalled to see if that was the issue (HP Color LaserJet 3700). This same issue also occured on a different HP Color Laserjet 4650. These are both using PCL 5 drivers, as installed by Windows 7.
I have also tried different "Line Caps" settings, but no luck.
This nex screen shot is a scan of the printout of the above file. as you can see the text outlines and box outlines are notched.
This is a screen cap of the settings i have used, although it doesnt matter if I use, behind fill or not, the result is the same.

I'm really enjoying Xara Designer 6 these days except for this one problem that is popping up in all my exported images. all of the text in my images are surrounded by intermittent blue pixels which makes the text less crisp or even muddy.

I have taken this sketch (jpeg) converted to .eps and performed a live trace in illustrator. I then go to live paint to select areas to fill with different colors, but the whole image is selected. It could have to do with me not being able to separate into layers before the trace, but i'm not too sure where i am going wrong here. I've watched several tutorials on turning sketches into vector files, but obviously im missing a step.

I am trying to convert a fairly simple logo to a vector for printing in t-shirts. When I did it years ago, I used live trace and emailed it off to the printer and it worked fine, this time, using the lastest version of ai, the printer keeps saying it is not a vector, despite using live trace.
The printer's website says to "place" the logo, use "select all" then use "outlines." I can place the logo, but can't select all, I try alt A and it just beeps at me.

When I export my AI file to SVG, the strokes show.

How can I remove the strokes? This is the same exact file exported to png: [URL] ....
The png files does not show the outlines, which is what I want. I have set the strokes to transparent.

I have the following image:
This actually started out as a font, and I converted it to an object with paths using apple-shift-o. I'm wanting to get rid of the balloon around the lettering, but am having a real hard time doing so using the convential methods (ie cutting, deleting the anchor points). When I do this, it seems to interfere with the lettering. How I can accomplish this for a piece of text I converted to an object?

I converted a large document from RGB to CYMK (File | Document Color Mode). I'd like to select all of the text that was RGB(0,0,0) and is now CMYK(75.02,67.97,67.02,90.16) so I can change it to CMYK(0,0,0,100). I think the magic wand is the way to do this (correct me if I'm wrong).
I have text in a dozen or more text areas. Many of the text areas overflow text into another text area. Some of the text in the text areas is "black" but there is also text with other colors that I'd like to remain unchanged.
For example, I'd like to select all of the black text in the following two text areas without selecting the red text. I thought that I could click on the black text and have all the black text (but not the red text), selected, but the entire text box is selected (and nothing in the second text box is selected). Can the wand select some text within several text boxes? If not, how should I go about changing the black?
