View 1 RepliesI can't open the other shape options form the rectangle tool?
View 1 RepliesWhen i right click on any of the tools with a little arrow in the corner to open the other tools options nothing opens: i cannot open the other pen tools for example.
I bought the adobe creative suite 6 master collection, and this function works fine in Photoshop but it does nto work in Illustrator.
I want to be able to define a "freeform shape" by clicking random coordinates and close the shape with a right click. (similar to words draw shape command). Is there an addon for this?
I also want this added capability in the "Lasso" function. Instead of dragging to random locations, just clicking on interim points where straight line segments are needed.
When using the rectangle tool in CS5, a graph appears in the shape. How do I turn the graph off?
View 2 Replies View Relatedi'm basically making a shape with the pen tool, then i click the paint bucket, then the shape disappears. i've also done this with the rectangle tool and the exact same thing happens.
usually, it will work when i frst open the document, but after i start making new layers/text then i try to do this, the shape i make disappears.
how i can keep the shape so i can select the paint bucket tool?
I was trying to make a logo and for doing as I sketched it I thought Offset path will do. But unfortunately it didnt. By using this feature repeatedly the shape is losing its initial form. This is what I want (as concept) but as you can see the shapes don't have the same form as the original cloud:
I know is almost impossible to make this without any distortion, but I was wondering if there is any other methond with less shape deformation.
Been using Illstrator for over 7 years now, and never really wanted to ask this question, but I have to now. If I draw a sqaure using the rectangle tool, it shows a cross in the centre, and if I draw one using the pen tool, there is no cross. Is the cross there to merely show the centre or does it have a different purpose in showing it's a different property? Also, if you want to recreate this, make sure you are in Outline View (⌘/ctrl + Y) .
View 2 Replies View RelatedI would like to shape the bottom of a rectangle at 600dpi that equates to 5100px by 900 px (8.5 x 1.5) using 5 or so total anchor points.
It would be 1.5" high on the left and 0.825" high on the right. The curve would look like the, warp-rise effect, but only on the bottom, and then subtly flatten out to the .825 end or right side.
How can I convert the shape of textbox to rectanglebox and fill any desired color into it? Can any API do so?
Here are steps that I follow in illustrator to convert the shape.
1. Create a textframe.
2. Select, choose "effect->convert to shape" menu-item.
3. Create a new fill from Appearence palette(Window->Appearance).
4. Fill the desired color from color palette(Window->Color).
I want to obtain the same result using API.
How do I curve a rectangle so that the bottom one can sit neatly next to the top distorted rectangle shape,as in the picture below? What tool do I need to use? I have tried placing extra point but it does not allow me to curve the rectangle.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to remove a circular shape from a rectangle in illustrator, the retangles width is 10px and the diameter of the circle is 13px, I centre the circle ontop of the rectangle ( or I appear to) but when I use the Shape mode tool minus front, the circle is no longer centred ( see images).
I have tried switching off smart guides and snap to grid and am still having the same problem.
In the above image you can see once I have divided the 13px circle from the rectangle it has moved off to one side.
Also when I am trying to manually place the circle ( rather than using the centre guides ) I can only move it by a large degree it alway moves further than I move the mouse, could this be because of a pixel grid? I do not think I am using this. ( can see in the above image where I am trying to place the circle and when I let go of the mouse, the grey circle is where it lands.
From the 2 images below you can see that there is a 1px difference on either side of the extracted circle I was trying to get centered.
I should mention that the 'Align to pixel grid' in the transform menu is inactive when I am trying to do this, as I initially thought that this may be the cause of my problems, but it made no difference.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhy is my rectangle tool leaving a trail of rectangles and not creating just one? Did I bump a setting by accident. How do I get the rectangle tool back to normal?
View 5 Replies View RelatedWith the Rectangle Tool's cursor is clicked in the document. The Rectangle Panel appears. A height dimension is entered. With the pointer, the Width field is clicked. Usually, the Height Value gets automatically entered in the Width field. In this case it does not.
This same behavior is occuring in the Ellipse Tool.

When I try to open a pdf with Illustrator (CS5.5), the panel that has you choose the options is hidden. I have to hit my enter key to progress forward,so it seems that the panel is still a step I am taking, but I cannot see it anywhere.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm creating a PDF form in InDesign (9.2.1), and have used the Buttons and Forms palette to set options such as Multiline and Scrollable, but these are not being exported in the PDF.
I'm using the Interactive PDF export option, and I've tried quitting/restarting InDesign, and Acrobat Pro, but no luck: when the PDF is exported, the options aren't 'attached' to the PDF fields and I have to manually apply them again in Acrobat Pro. My form is 12 pages long, and having re-set these options in Acrobat is going to be both time consuming, and a duplication of effort!
The rectangle tool is drawing at 90 degrees. I tried to fix it with the preferences>general>constrain angle, but I see that is ALREADY set to 0 degrees, yet the rectangle is 90 degrees! Is there another setting I should be aware of?

I have been having issues with using the blend tool on my object. If you look at the picture, I had one outer shape that was what I wanted shaded and a thinner shape that runs inside the other. It blends perfectly fine everywhere except at the bottom. I don't know how to explain it or what went wrong but I can't figure out how to make the blend fit inside the shape.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI do not understand why whenever I go to select the rectangle/polygon(or other similar tools) sometimes-in the options bar-the path functions(subtract from area, add to shape area etc) are NOT available.
The one who is always available is the "create new shape layer".
