Photoshop :: Select Rectangle / Polygon - Options Bar Path Functions / Are NOT Available
May 29, 2012
I do not understand why whenever I go to select the rectangle/polygon(or other similar tools) sometimes-in the options bar-the path functions(subtract from area, add to shape area etc) are NOT available.
The one who is always available is the "create new shape layer".
With Gimp you can round the corners of a square or rectangle using two functions: the problem is that doing so all four corners will be rounded, while I am interested in only the two upper corners. Here's an example of what I would do.
I work with shapes all day designing mobile apps. Thus, I'm constantly selecting and resizing rounded rectangles. When resizing I have to individually select all four points of a side to move it without distorting the rounded corners. I cannot click and drag, because that will activate any shapes underneath the one I want to select.
I'm looking for a plugin or alternative to easily select the entire side of a rounded rectangle. IE - I click one point on a side, and it auto selects all four points on that side, or the like.
in PSP X3 I got several options when I selected the crop function. I saw and could change the count of pixels in X and Y direction and so on. All this options have gone in PSP X4. Or is there a setting I have to change?
When I click the select tool, a brown selection type of rectangle appears in a particular area of the illustration, even though I have not clicked on the illustration yet. I assume it is some type of warning indication, but don't know what. P.S. It is draggable and scaleable - I can move it off the artboard. An example:
I usually distort my image with the classic skew, rotate, scale... tools but that time I really need to deform the image along a path. So I want to draw a path (selection) and distort the image along it.
I have a C#-WPF-Application. In this application there is a list of blocks in my drawing. When I click one of these blocks in the listbox I have several button-functions.
One of them: Select the in the list selected block in the drawing.
Another: Explode the in the list selected block.
I found several topics with Selection, but none of them worked for me. I'm looking for a selection via ObjectId or blockname of a single block, in the most cases the selectionfilter needs an array(?).
I'm trying to stroke my work path with a brush I tailored myself. now, when I create a workpath from my text layer and switch to my top layer to try and choose 'stroke path' the option is shaded out.
First of all I am new to Maya, only 4-5 hours of playing through the menu and I've stumbled upon a big issue for me. I can't select polygons after I've deselected them, I can only right click- select all but that's useless when I want to work on just 1 polygon. How to select a polygon?
With NURBS, the "Select Tool" works just fine, but with Poly, nothing happens.
I select a UV on my polygon and it gives me two corresponding uvs in the texture editor, i`ve tried sew uvs and merge uvs in the texture editor but it doesn`t seem to work, is there something i should know?
I have attached a picture of what it continues to do when I attempt to select a face of this polygon I revolved from a cv curve tool line. Accidentally copied dual screen. I have been running into countless problems while trying to manipulate this revolved surface like a polygon but there is something stopping me. How do I just select an edge or a face without the entire thing lighting up with yellow dots and not actually selecting anything! I try to hold shift and click other faces but that doesn't work either!
If I could somehow delete the action of revolving a line to treat the independent tessellations as one uniform polygon. I am very new to this program and I don't know where history might be.
When trying to select entities with a window or crossing polygon (and hitting enter) there are no grips showing to indicate that the selection has been completed even though the entities seem to be highlighted. Syntax: select, enter, wp, enter (draw polygon), enter.
I am a part time user of this wonderful program and only recently moved to 2010 and yet I cannot figure out what I am doing wrong. I have Googled and looked in my texts and still am having difficulty (also attempted to search FAQ on this site but the link malfunctioned).
i'm having a lot of troubles with a free rig i downloaded at creativecrash [URL]. I'll keep it short as i have quite a lot of things to explain: I animated my shot, and everything was ok. Now i have to shade/light/render my shot using vray, trying to create brand new vray materials; I started from my robot-character. Here comes the problems: - I can't select the polygon geometry(i asked the rigger, and he said the geometry were imported as references at rigging time). There are no geometry layers in reference or template, then there must be somthing else causing me the problem. I can access to the object via hypershade, i can click on the shape node and i can see the geometry selected, but then, when i try to access faces, i can't select them!in no way. This means i can't create selections for materials, and so i can't shade as i liked. I tried to selecte faces using the select by materials feature in the hypershade (as the character has some pre created basic materials)but again, i'm not free to assign materials where i want, and i just can use the pre-existing face selections and work on those, but it's not enough for me. I am a newbie, and doing the helmet tutorial. It is asking me to go to the edit mesh menu and select the split polygon tool. It isn't there. where is it.
I am using Inventor 2012. I am trying to sweep the pink shape around the pink rectangle but I get a weird result. Can I not sweep around a rectangle from the center? See attachment. I want to add more to the shape but when I do the result gets weirder.
the marquee select with the rectangular selection is often very limitated. Sometimes I wish to select multiple objects with a "free form", for example drawing the selection area with a polyline tool. Is this possible? I did not find a way to do it with the tool in CorelDraw (X5). Neither did I find solutions in the internet.
There's one tool, that does something very similar: the shap tool with ALT key can be used to select nodes by drawing a free line around the node. This is what I mean, but for objects not node.
I tried to make rectangle and get into create path.but i don;'t know hot to.First I made Rectangle
Dim Rectangle as SketchEntityEmulator Dim SplitPath as path Set Rectangle = SketchPlane.SketchLines.AddAsTowPointRectangle(Point1, Point2) then I tried Rectagle into Path PartDef.Features.CreatePath(Rectangle)
But There is a error...How i make Path from Rectangle? then I tried to SplitFaces.
I Got Face from HoleFeature. I Got Face like this. Dim oFace as Face Set oFace = HoleFeature.Faces.Item(1) and For Split I Add Face to FaceCollection like this Dim oFaceCollection as ObjecCollection Set oFaceCollection = ThisApplication.TransientObjects.CreateObjectCollection [code]....
On the drop down menu on my pse11 the import/export options are unselecteable, why this is and how it can be resolved as I would like to be able to import things.
When i place a rectangle in a sketch i can't select the parameters to be directly linked to size. I must first enter a number, delete the number and can then through the triangle to the parameter list. Is it possible to approach the parameters directly ?
I'm brand new to GIMP, I just downloaded it to get into some simple pixel art.
I was going fine, but I've run into a problem. I'm trying to select a portion of my image using the rectangle tool, and then move it to a different location using the move tool. However, when clicking and dragging the move tool it shifts the entire image, not just the portion I have selected. I read in the FAQ that you need to press "Enter" to finalise the selection before you move it, but even doing that doesn't work.
This was working fine for me earlier, I'm not sure what I've done to break it. I've tried resetting my tool preferences back to defaults but that has not worked.
I am trying to use the rectangle tool to select a rather specific area. I am trying to make a 50x50 square in the bottom left corner, but I don't know how I would accomplish this.
I've been wondering how do you get the rectangle select tool to move the image, like in mspaint whenever I use it, it just moves the rectangle square and not the selected part of the image.
i'm basically making a shape with the pen tool, then i click the paint bucket, then the shape disappears. i've also done this with the rectangle tool and the exact same thing happens.
usually, it will work when i frst open the document, but after i start making new layers/text then i try to do this, the shape i make disappears.
how i can keep the shape so i can select the paint bucket tool?
Recently upgraded to Gimp 2.8 for the single window mode (which worksbrilliantly in Ubuntu, especially with the HUD).
But the Rectangle Select Tool has a new - but odd - behaviour. When I drawa selection, and then add to that selection, a new "square" is position atmy cursor. (See attached screenshot.) This didn't happen in 2.6 and is abit irritating because it disorientates me slightly, especially if I'mworking quickly.
Is there a way to turn that off (or revert it to the 2.6 way)?
