View 2 RepliesRecently upgraded to Gimp 2.8 for the single window mode (which worksbrilliantly in Ubuntu, especially with the HUD).
But the Rectangle Select Tool has a new - but odd - behaviour. When I drawa selection, and then add to that selection, a new "square" is position atmy cursor. (See attached screenshot.) This didn't happen in 2.6 and is abit irritating because it disorientates me slightly, especially if I'mworking quickly.
Is there a way to turn that off (or revert it to the 2.6 way)?
How do I remove three images on the cursor when I have selected certain tools from the toolbox in Elements 9? I have just gotten a new computer and 9 was transferred to it from my old computer. Have never had this problem before.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a biped that I created to rig a horse. It was originally created in 3da Max 9. The problem is that through the years and different max versions it has worked fine for the most part. But sometimes when I take it out of figure mode the clavicles want to go back to the original rotation. See the attached images.
I have used the rig in 3ds max 9 3ds Max 2010 and now in 3ds Max2011.
This problem occured mainly in Max 9 and now in Max 2011. I have had it happen on other bipeds used in normal upright biped mode.
It has a run cycle animated on it and the biped behaved the whole time it was being animated.
I recently put it in figure mode to model a saddle on the horse and now it jumps when I take it out of biped. I just reinstalled Win7 and completed all wundows updates and loaded Max 2011 and put sp1, sp2 on. A week ago I was working with it with no problems. Since rebuilding the system I have this problem.
I work with shapes all day designing mobile apps. Thus, I'm constantly selecting and resizing rounded rectangles. When resizing I have to individually select all four points of a side to move it without distorting the rounded corners. I cannot click and drag, because that will activate any shapes underneath the one I want to select.
I'm looking for a plugin or alternative to easily select the entire side of a rounded rectangle. IE - I click one point on a side, and it auto selects all four points on that side, or the like.
When I click the select tool, a brown selection type of rectangle appears in a particular area of the illustration, even though I have not clicked on the illustration yet. I assume it is some type of warning indication, but don't know what. P.S. It is draggable and scaleable - I can move it off the artboard. An example:

Ultimately I am trying to create storm drains that have a width automatically (ex. 12" SD would come in at 12"). Right now I have a single center line that comes in and I manually offset the line to create a width or I place an mline over the center line.

I have just upgraded from X4 to X6 and found that when using the paint tool, the cursor disappears at the end of the action, and appears again when the cursor is moved again. This happens when the user interface setting is set to 'Shape cursor for brush tools".
More of a concern for me is when the Eyedropper tool is set to 'Select sample', (the one I always use), no rubber rectangle is drawn to show the area that is being sampled. That is, it is supposed to draw a dynamic rectangle in a similar way that the rectangular mask tool selects an area with a rectangle changing size with movement of the cursor. The eyedropper samples the correct pixels, but does not draw the enclosing rectangle.I have tried running it in all comparability modes except for 256 color and 640 x 480 resolution, which aren't options for me.
X4 didn't exhibit these problems so I can't understand how it can't be a bug, especially since the rectangular mask tool draws the rubber-banding rectangle without a problem. At this point would be preferring to be using X4.
On a new layer, I used the line and curve tools to draw the outline of a human figure. I want to fill the shape with a color. However, I can't figure out how to select the entire figure so that I can fill it using the Paint Bucket tool. How can I do that?

View 3 Replies View Relatedthe marquee select with the rectangular selection is often very limitated. Sometimes I wish to select multiple objects with a "free form", for example drawing the selection area with a polyline tool. Is this possible? I did not find a way to do it with the tool in CorelDraw (X5). Neither did I find solutions in the internet.
There's one tool, that does something very similar: the shap tool with ALT key can be used to select nodes by drawing a free line around the node. This is what I mean, but for objects not node.
I am trying to select a rectangle in a filter definition. However in the selection box I couldn't find the rectangle.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI know I've been able to do it before, but now when I put the selection arrow (black arrow) into a line of type by double clicking, I am unable to then drag the cursor to select the row of type. Triple clicking does nothing.
In other words, double clicking with the selection tool places the cursor in a word, but how to then highlight the word??
In Preferences, it doesn't matter if the 'Double Click to Isolate' box is checked or not and the 'Object Selection by Path Only' is unchecked.
I know it's something simple.
When i place a rectangle in a sketch i can't select the parameters to be directly linked to size. I must first enter a number, delete the number and can then through the triangle to the parameter list. Is it possible to approach the parameters directly ?

I was going fine, but I've run into a problem. I'm trying to select a portion of my image using the rectangle tool, and then move it to a different location using the move tool. However, when clicking and dragging the move tool it shifts the entire image, not just the portion I have selected. I read in the FAQ that you need to press "Enter" to finalise the selection before you move it, but even doing that doesn't work.
This was working fine for me earlier, I'm not sure what I've done to break it. I've tried resetting my tool preferences back to defaults but that has not worked.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a horrible lag when trying to select objects in Nitrous display mode. When my FPS drop and navigation starts to lag, marquee selection also starts to lag proportionally to the FPS. If I draw a rectangle to select some objects, I have to wait about 3-4 seconds for the rectangular marquee to expand and reach my mouse cursor on more complex scenes. There's no such problems in Direct3D display mode. Even if the FPS drop to 1-2, selection remains lightning fast.
