View 2 Replies View RelatedA year ago I used Paint.Net for a map. I remember that I could select a freeform area by just clicking several dotted/dashed flickering points around the border so the lines were straight afterwards, when the dots were connected again. After that I could fill this area up with a transparant coulour. Now, off course, I can't seem to find how I did it.

I can't select polygons after I've deselected them, I can only right click- select all but that's useless when I want to work on just 1 polygon. How to select a polygon?
With NURBS, the "Select Tool" works just fine, but with Poly, nothing happens.
I select a UV on my polygon and it gives me two corresponding uvs in the texture editor, i`ve tried sew uvs and merge uvs in the texture editor but it doesn`t seem to work, is there something i should know?

A good method or the algebraic formula for a function to tell me if a point is inside a polygon or block's area?
I have attached a picture of what it continues to do when I attempt to select a face of this polygon I revolved from a cv curve tool line. Accidentally copied dual screen. I have been running into countless problems while trying to manipulate this revolved surface like a polygon but there is something stopping me. How do I just select an edge or a face without the entire thing lighting up with yellow dots and not actually selecting anything! I try to hold shift and click other faces but that doesn't work either!
If I could somehow delete the action of revolving a line to treat the independent tessellations as one uniform polygon. I am very new to this program and I don't know where history might be.
When trying to select entities with a window or crossing polygon (and hitting enter) there are no grips showing to indicate that the selection has been completed even though the entities seem to be highlighted. Syntax: select, enter, wp, enter (draw polygon), enter.
I am a part time user of this wonderful program and only recently moved to 2010 and yet I cannot figure out what I am doing wrong. I have Googled and looked in my texts and still am having difficulty (also attempted to search FAQ on this site but the link malfunctioned).
Is it possible to select an area then within that area select by color?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI do not understand why whenever I go to select the rectangle/polygon(or other similar tools) sometimes-in the options bar-the path functions(subtract from area, add to shape area etc) are NOT available.
The one who is always available is the "create new shape layer".
i'm having a lot of troubles with a free rig i downloaded at creativecrash [URL]. I'll keep it short as i have quite a lot of things to explain: I animated my shot, and everything was ok. Now i have to shade/light/render my shot using vray, trying to create brand new vray materials; I started from my robot-character. Here comes the problems: - I can't select the polygon geometry(i asked the rigger, and he said the geometry were imported as references at rigging time). There are no geometry layers in reference or template, then there must be somthing else causing me the problem. I can access to the object via hypershade, i can click on the shape node and i can see the geometry selected, but then, when i try to access faces, i can't select them!in no way. This means i can't create selections for materials, and so i can't shade as i liked. I tried to selecte faces using the select by materials feature in the hypershade (as the character has some pre created basic materials)but again, i'm not free to assign materials where i want, and i just can use the pre-existing face selections and work on those, but it's not enough for me. View 2 Replies View RelatedI would like to create a triangle, but with (really) round corners. Not just the points rounded off a little, but the corners going around evenly like circles.
(see infantile free-hand drawing attachment as an example)
Is this to accomplish in an easy manner?
edit:
The attachment seems to be missing, so here's a link: [URL].......
So when I create a triangle by using the star shape tool and only giving it three points. When I have my triangle, I duplicate it and make it smaller. I center them both up on the canvas, but they don't look centered. As you can see in the picture provided, the bottom has more of a width that the others. I've tried using the alignment tool and the smart guides. I do resize the triangle using shift so it doesn't mess up the shape too.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThe problem is that if one has defined a selected area in an image, using either selection by color or contiguous selection using the 'magic wand' facility, is possible to copy this selection to the Image Map facility of the image, so as to automatically define a set of coordinates as a polygon that can be used for link purposes? Perhaps there is some interim step that is required, or perhaps a special script is required?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there a setting for extruding polygons so it doesnt leave the original polygon.
When i extrude a polygon into a 3D solid, it extrudes fine but it also keeps the original polygon which means i have to delete it?
I'm extracting an image in PS 5.5 using the pen tool. I've got all the anchor points down, but I don't know how to now select my outlined area. If I try to fill in the background of the mask with black, the entire mask becomes filled in.

I have an image with just one color, black. But it has a shadow which is partially opaque. I want to select the shadow, so I can delete it. But when I use "select by color" it selects the whole image including the shadow. How do I just select the shadow? Or conversely, how do I just select the image?

I used to draw battleships in CorelDRAW3 when I was a kid.
When I have a masked layer and try to drag-select other items on other layers outside of it, it still gets selected if the image area happens to be located within the selection range. Or in other words: why would anything outside of the masked area get selected at all, when the point of a mask in not just to hide what's outside, but also to 'deactivate' it,so that the masked area is all we are working with. This didn't happen before, may be those were older versions of photoshop.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIn previous versions of PS you used to be able to press CMD (i'm mac based) and drag the mouse to select all the layers that are within the area you drag to.
This is great for sorting out files, grouping layers etc as you can lock/hide layers as you go. Problem now is that in Photoshop CC it also selects locked and invisible layers - which didn't use to happen so actually its completely ruined this method.
I need to place a circle selection around a ring shape in a gif graphic and then delete the background outside of the ring shape. The gif I am working with is a square shape with a green background and on that is a white circle shape with lettering going around it and a small pic inside the circle shape. I want to only use the white circle shape with the text going around it and the pic inside and discard the green square background appearing outside the ring.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've tried using GIMP many times, yet I've accomplished very little, given all of GIMP's functionality. For example:
If I want to select part of an image and copy it to another area or to a new image/layer, and also FEATHER the edges, here's how I'd do it in an old graphics app I often used years ago:
1. Select the area.2. Hold Ctrl while moving selection with Move tool.3. Use the slider to soften the edges to my liking.4. Press Enter to anchor selection. Done.
And there were sliders also for opacity and other things. So very SIMPLE because the prog. was designed very intuitively. How would I accomplish the same in GIMP? Well, most of the time, I WOULD ACCOMPLISH NOTHING! At best, I'd enter values into the box, not like the result, enter new values, repeat. And that's on a good day.
Somebody write a SCRIPT/PLUGIN that allows the use of sliders exactly as described above! I desperately want to be a HAPPY GIMP user, but I'm growing ever more hopeless. I don't want to turn on my older PC just to use a graphics app that actually lets me get things done.
When a check area and I start selecting and the "green window " appears it won't let me select more than 3 points
I was able to select multiple points. How can I fix this ?
Depth of Field works but select area to clear does not?
