AutoCad :: How To Select Entities With Window Or Crossing Polygon

When trying to select entities with a window or crossing polygon (and hitting enter) there are no grips showing to indicate that the selection has been completed even though the entities seem to be highlighted. Syntax: select, enter, wp, enter (draw polygon), enter.
I am a part time user of this wonderful program and only recently moved to 2010 and yet I cannot figure out what I am doing wrong. I have Googled and looked in my texts and still am having difficulty (also attempted to search FAQ on this site but the link malfunctioned).

I have user that placed some lights on a model and now he can't select groups of lights using crossing. He can select them indivigually. We are using linked models arch, mech, elec ect.. The light he is placing was downloaded off a vendors site, when he placed a revit OTB family he can select it using crossing fine. We are using revit 2011.

I select all entities via Editor.SelectAll() method, but the nested entities (inside Blocks) are missing. Do I have to resolve them by iterating through all blocks afterwards or is there a Prompt Selection Option that can be set?
I don't want the user to select the entities, instead I loop through the whole drawing.

I need a function similar to Qselect.
In this case I would like to select all entities on a series of layers. (i.e.: a-site-* or a-fill*). I know I can do this with qselect by doing each layer one at a time and append the existing selection set.
Instead, I've been locking all layers except the series I'm looking for, but it seems like there should be a quicker way.

I have a command which proccess entities in the drawing and creates a SelectionSet. But, on the drawing i do not see the selected objects . I need to show grips on selected objects . It is a looks like a Quick Select command. What can i do? What method showing the grips?

I coded a utility to work with entities rotation. This is a part of a bigger project so i just cutt and pasted together the part of code that have this problem.
Basically i get the selection, i clone it (because this is a copy and rotate) and through a draw jig class i rotate all the entities. This works well but just sometimes when the command ends it happened this weird thing, the entities appears in the draw but they can't be selected. And all get back to the normally after saving, closing and reopening the draw.
This is the utility.

When I select more than 100 entities all of the grip points disappear. With ACAD 2002 there seemed to be no limit to the number of entities you could select without losing the grips, but with ACAD 2007 they started dissapearing though with '07 clicking "View" "Regen" would bring them back into view (unless you accidentally click on another entity). With ACAD 2013 if I go over 100 that's it. This is mostly a problem for me as I use the spacebar shortcuts extensively in creating and manipulating my drawings. I have found other ways to to acomplish my needs such as using the move command but I have much successful history using my old methods and would like to continue with them.

I accidentally turned something on in Autocad, and I want it to go away, I have no idea what it's called or how to get it gone. It's akin to the "select other" window in Inventor when you select at the intersection of several objects.
How do I make this go away?

The 'application' I am trying to make currently adds entites to a drawing. Each entity has data associated with it but also part of a tree of infomation so I store xrecord data along with the objectID in a dictionary tree within the drawing.
I want to be able to select multiple entities and have any matching data shown in a palette. The same way the properties palette behaves.
I have it working but I can see AutoCAD crunching the data. It cycles through the selection set and the dictionary tree extracting entity data until it finds an ID match in the xrecord.
How the properties palette works so quickly or how I could improve the speed.

First of all I am new to Maya, only 4-5 hours of playing through the menu and I've stumbled upon a big issue for me. I can't select polygons after I've deselected them, I can only right click- select all but that's useless when I want to work on just 1 polygon. How to select a polygon?
With NURBS, the "Select Tool" works just fine, but with Poly, nothing happens.

I have attached a picture of what it continues to do when I attempt to select a face of this polygon I revolved from a cv curve tool line. Accidentally copied dual screen. I have been running into countless problems while trying to manipulate this revolved surface like a polygon but there is something stopping me. How do I just select an edge or a face without the entire thing lighting up with yellow dots and not actually selecting anything! I try to hold shift and click other faces but that doesn't work either!
If I could somehow delete the action of revolving a line to treat the independent tessellations as one uniform polygon. I am very new to this program and I don't know where history might be.

I do not understand why whenever I go to select the rectangle/polygon(or other similar tools) sometimes-in the options bar-the path functions(subtract from area, add to shape area etc) are NOT available.
The one who is always available is the "create new shape layer".

i'm having a lot of troubles with a free rig i downloaded at creativecrash [URL]. I'll keep it short as i have quite a lot of things to explain: I animated my shot, and everything was ok. Now i have to shade/light/render my shot using vray, trying to create brand new vray materials; I started from my robot-character. Here comes the problems: - I can't select the polygon geometry(i asked the rigger, and he said the geometry were imported as references at rigging time). There are no geometry layers in reference or template, then there must be somthing else causing me the problem. I can access to the object via hypershade, i can click on the shape node and i can see the geometry selected, but then, when i try to access faces, i can't select them!in no way. This means i can't create selections for materials, and so i can't shade as i liked. I tried to selecte faces using the select by materials feature in the hypershade (as the character has some pre created basic materials)but again, i'm not free to assign materials where i want, and i just can use the pre-existing face selections and work on those, but it's not enough for me. We have this need to have all of the solids in a drawing to be placed in the "solid" layer.
Sometimes folks are drafting lines to develop these solids, and keeping the lines on the "solid" layer, rather than moving them to another layer, or deleting them altogether.
I could get folks to run this command before leaving the drawing.
I'm thinking something along the lines of:
Select all entities that are on the solids layer that are not solids.
If nil, great, do nothing.
If entities are selected, let me do something with them.
I'm hoping the following can be modified ever so slightly.

Is there a setting for extruding polygons so it doesnt leave the original polygon.
When i extrude a polygon into a 3D solid, it extrudes fine but it also keeps the original polygon which means i have to delete it?

I made a complex sketch, and want to extrude.When i want to select the whole sketch, i position the mouse on the upper left of the screen and drag down and right, but no window is created.
And i cannot add segments to the selection, even with pressing SHIFT, because immediately after the first is selected, it is extruded.you see on the picture i attached that some segments (in red) are connected. how can i connect all the sketch together, so when i will select it everything is selected.

When I try to create a table from line tags, I can do it if I select them each individually. But I cannot accomplish selecting the line tags by "windowing", as it will ask me if I want to turn ALL line labels into tags first, which I do not wish to do.
For a curve table, windowing works very well.
Is there a trick to selecting your line tags by window?

With "Select Annotations" I can window select multiple annotations at once. Why can't I window select bodies, features, or face and edges? AutoCAD, NX and Solidworks can do it. Do I have to change a setting somewhere?

Using 2012. On pre-07 versions I've used, I could change the style of all dimensions in a drawing by selecting all entities (or using window selection) and then selecting the new dimension style from the combo box, regardless of what layers or entities were selected. Any dimension within that selection gets changed to the new style selected. In 2012, if I select any entity that isn't a dimension, no dimensions styles appear in the combo box, and so this method doesn't work.
Is there some new setting preventing this from working?

I am unable to select Sketch geometry via a crossing window to project to a new sketch.
While in the new sketch if I select " Project Geometry " I am only able to select one line at a time. quite tedious for some of my larger projects.
I can not honestly say that this feature was available in previous releases but it seems to me it was. Am I missing a variable somewhere?

as title if I need to select one by one，it will be too slow....Should this function be accompolished by LISP? But I am not familiar with LISP.... the situation is that I have many irregular lines distributed in disorder, and what I want to do is just lengthen these lines "3.5" Meters from the start point of each line.
If I can do this way , then I can join the line to some points correctly in Arcmap.
