I am trying to send a file to a newspaper for print. Only thing is Illustrator makes the files massive.
A normal newspaper ad ends up to be 58MB when converted to PDF. When i make something in Indesign it only exports to about 8MB for PDF.
Tried to Save As - Adobe PDF in the hopes that I can email that file to printer or others to view. Comes up blank.

I have a client who asked me to create artwork for a banner she is printing for a trade show. The banner is 19.5 FEET long and almost 8 feet high. I have designed the banner as 6.5x2.6ft with the intent of then dividing it into 9 equal parts which I would blow up to 6.5x2.6 and send off to the printer. So far so good. The problem is that the segments are still so large that when I try to export them as PDFs, I am running out of memory. I tried doing them as jpegs, but when I change the resolution for export to 300dpi, nothing changes- the number of pixels x umber of pixels doesn't increase. My client needs this artwork off to her printer asap and I am at a complete loss.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIn the past two days, two-page PDFs that I save out of CS6 are printing with the second page upside down. I have tried resaving the documents—didn't work. Tried saving the documents as individual PDFs and combining the PDFs in Acrobat—didn't work. I have had my colleagues print them, and the second page is upside-down too. When I print two-page PDFs that I saved last week or longer ago, I have no problem at all. It just seems to be happening with recently saved PDFs. I didn't update any software on my computer between saving the PDFs that are printing correctly and when this problem began.
View 11 Replies View RelatedUsing Illustrator CS5.5, I'm trying to open and use floor plan PDFs originally created from AutoCAD, Revit, etc. The files contain detailed vector artwork, but the file sizes and RAM/CPU usage I'm seeing don't seem to correspond to the information in the file. I open a 2MB floor plan PDF and when I save as Illustrator, it becomes 20MB. It takes 2GB of RAM to open that file.
I've checked for masks and transparencies, but can't figure out what's making these so difficult to work with. Are there attributes I'm not checking that could be slowing things down?
I want to send my pictures to an online printing company to get my prints. Do I use the "Print" module to set up how I want them printed or is that set up on the printing company website. In other words, is the Print module just used if you have a printer?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have made this artwork in illustrator (included an image of it below). it is for newspaper print. When i export it to Illustator PDF the size is MASSIVE 40mb! I sent this to them via a link hoping to get away with it but they replied & said please send as 3mb as the file it to big! What am i going to do now? I have flatterened transparency & rasterized everything in Illy but it only makes it larger.

I have to bake all textures in a 3DSmax / mental ray scene.I'm using "Render to texture" and I have 2 big problems :
1) How can I change the type of image file ? When only one object is selected I can access to "File Name and Type", but when all my scene objects are selected this option is not available. So the baked textures are .tga
2) The baked textures have a gamma value = 1. It's too dark, and I want a 2.2 gamma value.
This post is regarding using Designer Pro to edit print ready PDF's (with crop marks, colour bars etc) created using Photoshop and Illustrator. I can do the edits, but if I try and export the file it corrupts (colour values change, some text changes col)
The files are supplied to me by a designer and sometimes I need to do urgent changes myself before going to print. I have unticked the 'add printers marks' box to avoid a double set of marks and colour bars and have the fonts installed too.
I have a massive block of dummy text set up in Illustrator 5 and the easiest way for me to change the dummy text is to overwrite it as one would when using the Insert function.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm working on my design for a project (book) and I want to export a typography into Photoshop to give it more effects, work with a textured background, etc. I was wondering if I export it as a PSD file I'll be able to keep the printing quality, since printing text from Photoshop comes out pixelated. Also, would I have to re-open it in Illustrator again after I'm done with Photoshop?

I have drawn all this apart from the egg in XDP 6 and when I export to PDF everything except the egg and drop shadow has turned solid black.
If I turn the stroke/shapes back to constant from Dab it comes out fine!

I am creating interactive PDFs from InDesign and everything is working well.The only issue I am having is that along with the text fields and buttons, I also have a Credit Card field that I need to be interactive.
How can I export a pdf so that the 16 little squares become text fields?
i have been trying for the past hour to export these two files as pdfs for large format print. everything exports fine except the gold trophy design, how to export these for use for large format solvent printing, i normally dont have a problem but this golden shield vector appears to be the problem.

When I generate a drawing file at home and send it to my client’s computer via email the drawing appearance changes. It appears as though the .dwg file is corrupt in some manner. My dimensions are not in order the font has changed in scale and in type. Most of the text is just inadvertently scattered about.

I am designing a simple label (3.75 x 1.25 inches, black and white) that is mostly text based. I tried printing directly from Illustrator and also as a converted PDF (high quality) and the results are the same - slightly blurry and fuzzy text.
The printing problem seems to only happen when I try to print Illustrator files and PDFs converted from Illustrator. (Printing with a laser printer.)
I'm new to Lightroom and was attempting to prepare a file to send to a print lab. I want to produce a large format single image with dimensions of 52" x 36". I've prepared this in the 'print' module but when I press 'print to file...' it warns me that the file is 760mb and I may run out of memory! Is this file to large to sent to a printer, how can I reduce the size of the file without reducing the quality of the print? or is this just a standard file size for a large format printed image?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have just upgraded from CS3. My workflow when preparing files for the printer is to print to postscript file, then use distiller to convert the file to pdf for sending.
CS3 retained the file location, so that each time I performed the same action, it went straight to the previous folder where the postscript file (for the current AI file) was created.
Now, in CS6, it takes me back to 'My Computer' (equivalent in Windows 7) every time... which is really, really frustrating to have to re-navigate back to the same server path every time I output the file. (Which I do a lot as I do final checks and proofing within acrobat, so need to perform this process frequently).
I've recently picked up Illustrator CS5, when I save a file (or print) as a PostScript file. My aim is to convert the file to a PDF using Distiller and in the Print dialogue box, the PPD field in past versions says something along the lines of Adobe PDF 8.0. In CS5, I do not have the option to select that from the PPD drop down menu (Nor can I find the file to add to the list). Additionally, I can't make a 'custom sized pdf,' only preset paper sizes. I've had to resort to opening my files in CS3 to convert them to PostScript files. I forsee this becoming a problem once I start diving into some of Illustrator CS5's new features.
I get the feeling the program didn't install with an Adobe PDF plug-in and I can't seem to find a substitute online that isn't from 1999 (!). Is there a way to get that plug-in file that my copy of CS3 is using into my CS5?
AI newbie here. How do you send the client a vector logo? When I save my logo as EPS, it is still in a thousand pieces. Is it possible to "Flatten" logo like in Photoshop before sending as vector?
My logo has some transparency which I'd like to keep.
