I have drawn all this apart from the egg in XDP 6 and when I export to PDF everything except the egg and drop shadow has turned solid black.
If I turn the stroke/shapes back to constant from Dab it comes out fine!
I have attached the original file and the two resultant pdf's.
i have been trying for the past hour to export these two files as pdfs for large format print. everything exports fine except the gold trophy design, how to export these for use for large format solvent printing, i normally dont have a problem but this golden shield vector appears to be the problem.

When I view the PDF on a Windows based machine, it is fine in both FireFox and IE. When viewing the PDF on a Mac product (iPad, iPhone, Mac desktop), the layers I have turned off are showing up in the PDF.

I'm unable to convert pdf's using a cmyk model. I don't have that option available to me.
Which version should I upgrade to, in order to have that functionality?
Certain pdf files will not import even though they look as if they are when I chose to merge. Same thing when I try to open.These very same files can be imported (placed) into Indesign. I have checked layers and there is only one (the visible current one which shows a pdf in the layer properties. It just is not visible though.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen you open a PDF you have the choice of opening it for editing. Unfortunately it produces small chunks of text instead of a nice text block. So, you really cannot manipulate it to add text the middle of a paragraph say.
I tried to be clever and selected a bunch of chunks and tried a "combine shapes"" XDP9 did not like that a that at all and went belly up.
I can no longer read the preference menus as all the backgrounds have turned black. The text font does not show up.
I can't work out how to change the background to grey so I can read the text (or the text to grey). Problem occurred when I loaded lightroom 4, didn't correct itself when I loaded CS6
I am using Xara Photo & Graphic Designer (non Pro) version 6. I have a custom page size of 10"x7.5". I have turned off the page shadow in File>Page Options>Tab[Page Size]:Section[Spread]:Checkbox[Show page shadow]. The shadow is gone from the view of the document, but when exporting to PDFs, it's back!

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been merrily taking screen shots for a recent work project, pasting them into Photoshop, adding a touch of sharpening via Highpass filter, and printing them to PDF. suddenly, with the most recent print, I am greeted for the first time with the message "Some PostScript specific print settings (Interpolation, Calibration, Encoding) will be ignored since you are printing to a non-PostScript printer." I also noticed all of my other prints to pdf were 72 dpi, suddenly this one is 121 PPI. The PDF is black and white, although the original document is full color, and it has the moire pattern of a scan taken at the wrong resolution, a pattern of little squares all over.
Every PDF I save from Photoshop is like this now, filters or no.
What the heck happened? How can I get my pdfs back?
When i use the wipeout command rather than background mask in the Mtext window and plot my layout as a pdf, for some reason the wipeout prints as a black block.
View 9 Replies View RelatedThis post is regarding using Designer Pro to edit print ready PDF's (with crop marks, colour bars etc) created using Photoshop and Illustrator. I can do the edits, but if I try and export the file it corrupts (colour values change, some text changes col)
The files are supplied to me by a designer and sometimes I need to do urgent changes myself before going to print. I have unticked the 'add printers marks' box to avoid a double set of marks and colour bars and have the fonts installed too.
My 3yo son got on my computer and somehow changed over 5000 images in my lightroom catalog all to black and white! How do I un do this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I open a pdf produced using dwgtopdf I get a warning from Adobe Acrobat that it "cannot find or create the font 'Arial-Black'. Some characters may not display or print correctly".
Looked at the files present within the template when I go to e-transmit and inded, there is no sign of that font, but the title block displays perfectly well.
Checked my fonts folder in control panel and while there is an 'Arial Black', there is no 'Arial-Black'.
Is this a problem within ACAD or Adobe Acrobat. The problem has only appeared over the last few weeks.

A normal newspaper ad ends up to be 58MB when converted to PDF. When i make something in Indesign it only exports to about 8MB for PDF.

View 5 Replies View RelatedDesigner Pro 6: I've made round cornered pix for a catalog. I export as a PNG and the corners show black in the Web app I'm using, but they are transparent so it's OK. The last set of pix were done in Xara Xtreme 5, when I exported those as PNGs the corners were white, and the transparency was OK. My question is why the white or black corners, and is there something I can do that will control that? I used the same approach in Designer as in Xtreme 5.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI took this photo which was OK but not great, and set the saturation to -100, and worked on the contrast and levels until the sky was very dark. Then I cloned the photo and applied a Linear, Stained Glass transparency to make the sky even darker.
The effect in black and white is so much more dramatic than it is in color.
I made it into my Facebook cover photo.
The font is Aire Bold Italic Pro
I had an advertisement that I created in Graphic Designer 6 that is going to run in a paper as black and white. Does Xara GD6 have the ability to export as a B&W or a grayscale image? Or will I need to manually alter all of the colors of the ad and then export it?

1) convert the new digital image into an black and white one with that special look (is it the contrast, that makes that special b/w-look?)
2) make it look like disturbed or cracked, cut u and incomplete around the corners, a look, that must be the result of that old technique they have used for the photos at that time.
Is it possible to recreate that look for images, done with a digital camera today?(I have added a example image of an "old west show" I did, that is one of the images I would like to manipulate)
This is probably super simple. I do a lot of transparency stuff for the Web. My background color for the most part turns out to be black. I get my transparency but the program I'm using at the moment does a cleaner job with white. When it's black I see a little trash of black around the edge of the graphic. In the past I've come up with white quite by accident and it was clean as a whistle. I'm exporting as PNG, True Color + Alpha.

I'm probably bumbling around and buggering up the export of png formatted images, but it appears something besides transparency is getting exported as backbround.
I do `Select all' then export to png.The poorly drawn green arrows were added in photoshop to show the area I'm talking about. The xara document which is apparently also getting exported in some way.At least certain other tools see a black background in that area. Not all tools have that problem with the image. For example; photoshop sees only transparency there.
But when I browse the exported *.png files with `Epson print CD', it sees black in that area as illustrated by the screen grab below.The first two images look clean as expected (I'll explain in a moment) but the third (the one that hasn't been cleaned in Photoshop) shows the black background in that area.
The first two were cleaned up in photoshop and now appear clean as expected.So to get a usable image for import into Epson's tool I must:
1) Export as PNG from Xara
2) Open with Photoshop and run thru a procedure where anything outside the outer blue ring in the image is deleted.(Even though PS only sees transparency, if I select everything from the blue ring outward and delete it, saving back to png, then Epson's tool sees transparency there)
3) Import into `Epson Print CD' and print the graphic to a printable DVD.
How can I skip the second step? That is, how can I get a clean export in step one? What is it that some tools are seeing as black background?
how do you create a square with a transparent fill (it has to go around part of a photograph)? I am using DP7. I can create the square with no fill, but how to get a black outline around it (to show that it's a square).
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am using Xara's Photo & Graphic Designer for the first time and slowly getting acclimated to the program after using Ulead's Photo Impact for 6 years.
Just one really basic question. I have three elements in my final design: two seperate lines of text surrounded by a black outline. To save this as a single graphic (.gif format), what do I need to do? With Ulead all I had to do was select all, right click and select merge as one, then simply save in whatever format I wanted to the destination of my choosing.
Is there a similar "merge as one" command in Xara or do I select each element in my graphic, then choose save from the file menu?
