I am creating interactive PDFs from InDesign and everything is working well.The only issue I am having is that along with the text fields and buttons, I also have a Credit Card field that I need to be interactive.
How can I export a pdf so that the 16 little squares become text fields?
it's possible to have a standard text filled in the "Authorization" and "Organization", so that I don't have to enter the same text each time I want to export a STEP file.

Im using CS6 and in InDesign can see all of the text required. When I export to PDF, one line of text is not picked up, this is say line 4 of 8, all the other text is exported correctly. Then when I amend this section by adding text/changing colours, InDesign does not pick up my changes?

This isn't a PDF that's been emailed or moved between computers, this is right after I export from InDesign on my home PC.

I'm having a problem converting grapics, words or phrases to hyperlinks in exported pdf's. The only thing that converts is a complete URL even though the test for source and destination work perfectly.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm creating interactive PDFs for a client that include tables with empty cells that will be populated afterwards (depending on what information a customer puts in on a form).
The forms are created in InDesign and exported as interactive PDFs, but I need to be able to name the live fields (in InDesign) before I export the Interactive PDF, so that I don't have to select each indivual field in the final PDF and rename them.
The reason I want to be able to do this pre-PDF production, is because the forms will be rebranded over and over again and I don't want to have to rename hundreds of cells time and time again in Acrobat Pro.
The deveopler who's populating the cells already has predefined names for them, so I can's simply give him the names that Acrobat automatically defines.
I am trying to export an interactive PDF from an indd file that has multiple linked indd files. Within the linked files, I have URLs and a few forms.
I was able to get a URL to work on one linked indd file. The rest don't seem to work.Am I doing something wrong? Or is it just that an interactive PDF only works with one indd file at a time?
Trying to set up a datamerge file to create multi page spread documents with fields on different pages. Attempting to set it up so it's as automated as possible as there are up to 20 different merge documents needing to merge with up to 100 different csv records from the same file each week . The merge documents have different and repeated merge fields on most pages.
I've set it up so that the document has facing pages, and most pages have images spread across the whole of the spread. the pages preview fine, they are created ok when using 'Create Merged Document' although the page numbers continue from one document to another (another problem). but when I come to export to pdf, then the merge only shows the image on the left spread but on both left and right spread single pages, and the page numbers don't show the correct page numbers eg it will go p1 p2 p1 p2 etc all the way through the document instead of p1 p2 p3 - p20 etc. I don't want to have to merge first then pdf but can't understand why the images and page numbers are not showing correctly.
I have drawn all this apart from the egg in XDP 6 and when I export to PDF everything except the egg and drop shadow has turned solid black.
If I turn the stroke/shapes back to constant from Dab it comes out fine!
I have attached the original file and the two resultant pdf's.
I have a table with some Field, how can I export it to Excel? I have tried to export it to .CSV but the Formula has gone .

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am trying to send a file to a newspaper for print. Only thing is Illustrator makes the files massive.
A normal newspaper ad ends up to be 58MB when converted to PDF. When i make something in Indesign it only exports to about 8MB for PDF.
Is there any way to make print merge fields relative in position to other fields or to non-variable text.
For example if I am doing address labels and I have fields for City and State:
Their positions are absolute, and the state ends up overwriting the city for long city text, as does the comma.
What I want is for the comma to follow the last letter of the city, and then state to follow that.
And yes, I realize that I can combine all three into one field, but I am asking this as a general usage of the feature. One doesn't always have control over the source.
I was wondering if it was possible to say have a cover sheet of a project with fields and then have the other sheets in the project have their fields populate using information from cover sheet?

One item I'd love to have is the pg. number automated. In the current title block it's just text not an attribute. Is there a way I can take only a part of the file name and insert it as a field?
For example, the file name is DW_12321_12.dwg the last part of the name is the sheet number. Can I exclude everything but the 12 and insert just that into the field?
I'm constantly retyping information from a PDF order form into an AI spec header. Is there a way to link the two?

I don't receive any error messages, it just doesn't do anything after I select all of my export options. If I remove a specific linked document from the file, it exports fine, so I assume it has something to do with that one linked file
View 1 Replies View RelatedCan i link several text fields to different layouts in the same DWG? I need to change the same information into several layouts, and it`s taking me too much time to do that.
eg: if i have a field "Smith" in Layout 1, 2, 3, 4 (linked between them) and i want to change from Smith to Johnson , if i change it in Layout 1, it will automatically change it in all Layouts.
Our company plotted some PDFs using Publish, DWG to PDF and all the text came out fine but when our customer views the text in Bluebeam some of it is replaced by little white squares. It also prints out on their end with the little squares.

i have a drawing boarder that is a block with enter-able text fields for drawing revision etc but for some reason the order in which you would enter the rev's 1,2,3, etc is the wrong way round in the enhanced attribute box. So when i click and start typing i end up with 3,2,1 in the rev boxes.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen I export a PDF from my InDesign doc I am missing letters "fi" and "ff", and some are appearing as a block x, in the eps files I have placed in the InDesign doc. I have tried several fixes such as turning off ligatures in the original eps and the InDesign doc. I also changed the setting in the PDF export window from subset font percent from 100% to 0%. But nothing fixes it and the error is still occurring?

I need to turn this book of files into a pdf for Createspace and the print book dialog in the book panel doesn’t show me the pdf/x-1a 2001 preset. It gives me a default or I can create one myself. The printer selected is Adobe PDF. The file menu only applies to the active, single document, not a book, and while it does list Adobe PDF Presets I cannot apply them to the whole book, only the active, single file.
I found that I can save the preset I need out of the presets dialog but I can’t load it into the print presets to use for outputting the book as a pdf.
My installation was just updated, but still doesn’t show what some videos show should be there.
I copied all the settings from the preset I need but the print dialog doesn't let me create such a preset for a book, and the Export to PDF for a book is for interactive pdf and doesn't allow such presets at all.
I have a 156 page book with graphics, composed of 8 chapter files. If I have to combine all these into one id file to do this, is there a good way to do that without enormous labor? In that other book I created for createspace I didn't have to do that, but I can't figure out how I exported it to pdf/x 1a 2001
I have been trying to export an interactive PDF file using InDesign CS6. It exports fine, and all the content works except for the Folio Overlays I created. I created two Folio Overlays (one Pan & Zoom and one Scrollable Frame). The overlays work if I preview them from the Folio Overlays panel, but they do not work on the PDF document.
I am using File >> Export... to create the PDF document, and I am sure the PDF document is of the interactive type and not the print type. Am I exporting it incorrectly? Is there a specific step that I have missed somewhere? Do I need to create a Folio Build to make the Folio Overlays work?
When I mouse over the Folio Overlays, I get the crosshair cursor which only selects part of the image when I click and drag it.
Why are SmartLayoutReader & ElementLabel.pln installed in my InDesign CC? I don't want them and the make it impossible to export my files.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAs you can see by the image below, my menu bar titles at the top are small and blurry, plus anywhere there is a text field box (i.e. length & width text fields in the Image Size window) it is collapsed vertically and therefore I can't see what my values are. You can also see the 3 check mark boxes at the bottom of the Image Size window are cut off. I previously had CS6 installed on a Window XP machine without any issues. Now that I have "upgraded" to Window 7, this is what I get for results after the install.

I create framing drawings and am looking for a quick way to put together a cut list without having to manually type dimensions into a table.
I have the descriptive text for several hundred images in an excel sheet. There are five separate fields (excel columns) - Image filename; Title (Headline); Description (Caption); Keywords; Location how I can import this information into a lightroom catalog and match them up with the relevant images ? I can export the excel informaton into an xml file but would need to know the relevant field names.

My question is, do I need to "File > Export" the files from Lightroom before placing them into InDesign? Or are the Lightroom final changes I make embedded in the .tif file?
