i have a drawing boarder that is a block with enter-able text fields for drawing revision etc but for some reason the order in which you would enter the rev's 1,2,3, etc is the wrong way round in the enhanced attribute box. So when i click and start typing i end up with 3,2,1 in the rev boxes.
View 9 RepliesIs it possible to have a dynamic block with text which, when inserted into a drawing, will show the text orientation matched to the layout? I have a non-dynamic block which is simply a donut and a piece of text. When I insert it into a drawing, the text orientation will change to suit the orientation of the layout. I created another block with the same entities but I also added a couple of lines extending out from the center of the donut. I added stretch and rotation actions in order to rotate and stretch the lines. I also gave the block visibility states so that either one or two lines would appear (the block is a utility pole,by the way, with the lines representing guy wires). When I insert the dynamic block into a drawing, I cannot get the text to match the orientation of the viewport. I've tried changing different combinations of settings but the text won't appear horizontal.
The two blocks I mentioned above are inserted into one file with a number of other blocks. When I check the properties of the non-dynamic block, the "match orientation" is set to YES. I cannot, however, change the "match to orientation" setting to YES on the dynamic block. Is this simply because it is a dynamic block or am I missing something? I don't create a lot of dynamic blocks and therefore I am not a wizard at it so I am assuming I am doing something wrong.
We frequently will create a new part and drawing based on an existing drawing to save time recreating views and re-dimensioning the entire drawing. This is done by using Design Assistant to copy the idw and ipt file to a new name.
The only problem we have experienced with this workflow is that the revision history for the old drawing is maintained in the new file, and there doesnt seem to be a way to reset it. This also causes us a problem if a drawing needs to be changed from numeric to letter indication of revision level.
Any way to reset the revision history so that a new table can be started from scratch?
When a revision is created we bump up the revision using a letter. If there are multiple changes done to the drawing during that revision we will use a number to indicate that. For instance; if I have 3 changes to the drawing for Rev C they will be tagged as C1, C2, C3. However the drawing Rev in the title block should only display C.
Is there a way to make the revision block do this? Right now we place in the DESCRIPTION a note like 1. Added Dim in zone E10. 2.Text was "Flat" in zone H3. But this for goes the ZONE column that comes with the revision block and makes it difficult to edit because you cannot see the entire description while editing.

How can (or can I), set a revision block to be able to edit the attribute when I save an Inventor DWG as an AutoCad DWG. ex. we create drawings in Inventor, save as dwg and send for approval. Our manager is unable to edit the attribute in the revision block without exploding it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've made a block with fields linked to attributes (so when I change the value of the "master" attribute, the field values will change).
*NOTE* the fields are contained within a piece of MTEXT and NOT within another attribute.
The fields will not read the "value" of the attributes they are connected to, unless I explode the block (and change the DEFAULT value), or use regular text instead of attributes.
FIELDEVAL - set to 31
UPDATEFIELD - returns: "2 fields found, 2 fields updated" but it doesn't actually update them.
Regen/Regenall/Save - does nothing
BATTMAN - SYNC - does nothing
Lastly, I noticed that if I use "loose" text outside the block, but still link the fields (that are inside the block) to that text, they will update when I change the text contents after regen. AutoCAD is just having trouble using fields+attributes.

What the Issue is; I'm trying to field text from my "station number" block (which is Annotative) to my schedule. It will link at first but when I close the drawing and re-open the same drawing somehow the links/field between the "station number" and schedule break. Works fine if the block is non Annotative??
I am trying to create fields for a title block and then link them to a sheet set. I want to use my title block as a x-ref and not a block. Everytime i try to create attributes for it and then use the command Battman then it says there are not attributes created. I am now at a stand still on how to creat fields for my sheets and then link them to my sheet set.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI made a dynamic block (REINF_ID) with attributes that i will use to determine the reinforcement of structural walls on elevations. I inserted an attribute called LIGN1 which will be visible and the other attributes such as DIA(bar diameter)-SPC(rebar spacing)-POSITION(rebar position) will be invisible.
Now, in the block editor i want to insert 3 fields in the LIGN1(visible) attribute default value that will link to other attributes in the same block. example: LIGN1 default = 25M(DIAattribute) @(text) 300(SPCattribute) EF(POSITIONattribute). When i insert my block in a dwg and i decide to modify the DIAMETER(invisible attribute) from 25M to 30M for example, I want the value in the LIGN1 attribute to update to show the new DIAMETER.
When I regen, it does not modify the attribute (LIGN1) 25M to 30M, it keeps the default value of the attribute (25M).

Using iLogic, how to extract data from "Design Tracking Properties" in a revision table to an embedded or linked Excel spread sheet? Design Tracking Properties like "Today's Date", "Designer", "Checked By", "Eng Approved By" are of great interest.
Is there a way to add a revision row with I-logic?

I create all of the shop drawings for our company and I'm trying to find out the best way to track revised drawings. A lot of times I create a drawing and there are several revisions. The shop works off of a high res. pdf I print for them and we also have a signed version from the customer. Once in a while the shop gets their hands on an earlier revision and builds from it. The signed version from the customer is crappy at best and sometimes faxed so working from it is useless.
I have a space where I can manually enter the REVISION # on the drawing but sometimes I forget to update it. If I use an automated timestamp <timestamp> for the drawing with date and time (I've seen this done) or some iLogic code, would this show when the document is printed, opened or saved?
I have a couple of attributes suing fields within a block. But they don't update on opening. I need to do a manual field update to get them updated to the latest values.Tried various combinations of "fieldeval", but this was no good.

I am trying to create some new templates for 2013 and I'm trying to figure a way to get the model revision number to populate into the drawing's iproperty revision number so that they will match upon save. I'm trying to do this by creating an ilogic rule but I don't see a system property in the idw that will allow me to access the 3D model iprops. I am going to Event Trigger the rule to run Before Save. Is this possible?
On the drawing border I have created a formatted text box that is built as:
Type: Properties - Model
Property: Revision Number
It simply pulls the data from the models revision number and populates the text box. I need this same thing to happen but rather than populate into a text box I need it to populate into the drawings revision number iprop.

I moved the hole table from the original sheet to an other, but the fields in the title block of the new sheet don't update with the iproperties of the model

View 1 Replies View RelatedI created a dynamic block to represent a room in a floor plan. It displays the dimensions and area of the room and can be stretched. But it's defeating the whole point of being dynamic. The area won't update unless I do a regen.
I've seen comments blaming MTEXT for the problem, so I tried putting the area field in a line of TEXT or DTEXT. It still didn't update unless I did a regen.

I'm trying to edit our titleblocks. There is information we repeat at the top of the drawing like the drawing name, sheet number, total number of sheets, contract number, etc. It is ridiculous to have to type this information in twice. I tried creating both text and constant attributes at the top and insert field pointing to attributes at the bottom but all I get is ---- when inserted. My inserted field was ->Object->(selected attribute)->Value. I am using version 2011. I would think it should be easy to "repeat" values of attributes inside a block.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've created a sheet template that includes Fields to populate the sheet with the Project Name and location among others like scale, etc. When I create the new sheet in the project navigator most of the fields populate with the correct information based on the parameters set in the project. However, it consistantly does not populate the Project name and location. When I click the field and ensure that the attribute is set correctly then it renders the correct information. The problem is this ends up being a manual operation yet it still reads as a smart tag. Why do these not populate automatically?
Here's my process:
Create dwt for sheet file and include xref of title block.
Create a block with attributes that link to AEC Project, CurrentSheetTitle, etc. and insert into dwt.
In project navigator I create new sheet and select my template.
Information does not populate.
But when I view the block and close (no edits) it then links.
Can I pre-fill some of text in my drawing’s title block under the “Field Text” –“Edit Property Fields” ? Because some of the files I will use the same text again and again, if I can save the pre-fill text title block in the template, it will save me lots of time.

The block itself works fine however I created block attributes in the block dwg to display its measurements using the Distance x and Distance y totals.
When inserting the block into a new drawing I need to explode the block in order for the array to work, however this also means that the text is no longer locked to the block.

I am using the sheet list table to generate a table of contents. I add the "Drawing Revision Number" column to the table, but when it generates the list it does not include the field.

After a recent crash civil 3d now asks me to type in the full path and file name for a file i want to open after selecting the open option on the menu or toolbar.i know there is a variable that requires re setting but i don't know how.
