AutoCad :: Fields In Attribute Of Different Attributes In Same Block?

Dec 21, 2012

I made a dynamic block (REINF_ID) with attributes that i will use to determine the reinforcement of structural walls on elevations. I inserted an attribute called LIGN1 which will be visible and the other attributes such as DIA(bar diameter)-SPC(rebar spacing)-POSITION(rebar position) will be invisible.

Now, in the block editor i want to insert 3 fields in the LIGN1(visible) attribute default value that will link to other attributes in the same block. example: LIGN1 default = 25M(DIAattribute) @(text) 300(SPCattribute) EF(POSITIONattribute). When i insert my block in a dwg and i decide to modify the DIAMETER(invisible attribute) from 25M to 30M for example, I want the value in the LIGN1 attribute to update to show the new DIAMETER.

When I regen, it does not modify the attribute (LIGN1) 25M to 30M, it keeps the default value of the attribute (25M).

AutoCAD Dynamic Blocks :: Fields Within Block Attributes Will Not Update

Aug 31, 2012

I have a couple of attributes suing fields within a block. But they don't update on opening. I need to do a manual field update to get them updated to the latest values.Tried various combinations of "fieldeval", but this was no good.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Fields Linked To Object (another Attribute) In Block Not Updating?

Apr 17, 2013

I'm trying to edit our titleblocks.  There is information we repeat at the top of the drawing like the drawing name, sheet number, total number of sheets, contract number, etc.  It is ridiculous to have to type this information in twice.  I tried creating both text and constant attributes at the top and insert field pointing to attributes at the bottom but all I get is ---- when inserted.  My inserted field was ->Object->(selected attribute)->Value.  I am using version 2011.  I would think it should be easy to "repeat" values of attributes inside a block.

AutoCad :: An Attribute That Is Multiplication Of Two Other Attributes Within Same Block

Oct 21, 2010

I have a block with several attributes. One of the attributes is the result of mulitplying two or more of the other attributes together. I want this to be calculated automatically everytime one of the attribute values changes.

They need to stay within the same block (I think) for when i extract the data to a text file.

If its not possible with attributes, will fields be any better? (I know even less about those than I do attributes!)

Also would need to work on LT and full AutoCAD?

AutoCAD .NET :: Explode Block With Attributes / Converting Attribute To Text?

Feb 7, 2012

I wrote this little piece of code (attached) that explode all the blocks in the current drawing. This is magical, compared with what we had to do in VBA.

This works perfectly but now I want to go deeper and managed blockreferences with attributes.Based on my code, I can determine if oBTR.HasAttributeDefinitions is true or false.

If the blockreference has attributes, I suppose I will have to use Explode instead of ExplodeToOwnerSpace.

My first question is, using explode, I need before to know in which space the blockreference is inserted (Model or any layout) so to insert the exploded entities correctly. So, is it possible from a blockreference to get its own SpaceId?

An another idea I had is to edit the blockreference (not the block definition) to replace attributes with text...

AutoCad :: Attributes To Sync With Fields

Aug 24, 2012

Have an ATT "A" that is set. I can change it and it will change. But I also have an ATT "B" which works the same way as the "A".

I've added a MTXT into the block so that both ATT's A and B will work together, meaning they will always be in a dead center - something like text (no matter what the string is, you can Align it Middle Center), using a FIELDS option, and parameter set to VALUE.

It works when placed into the drawing, but need something that once I place the block and want to edit the VALUE, the Fields will update/sync.

AutoCad :: Attribute Fields Not Updating With Regen

Aug 7, 2013

I have been creating new 2D dynamic blocks for our engineering department to use. I was able to combine our old "dynamic" blocks, similar in design, into one new block. There are attributes within in the block to display information regarding which block is selected and shown. This information is then extracted using a LISP routine to be used via Excel for manufacturing.

I have run into problems with some of the fields updating. At times they will update and other times they won't. The attached file has an example of the blocks I'm using. They are the same block. However, the block on the left was placed into a new drawing using CTRL+V. The lone field in the bottom left corner of the block updates correctly when the block properties table is changed and REGEN is run.

The block on the right was inserted into this drawing using the INSERT command. The same field does not update using REGEN. FIELDEVAL is set to 31 based on what I've read in other posts.

Not sure what the difference would be, but I've been seeing it for the past week while creating the new blocks. It's a bit frustating not knowing why it will work sometimes and not others. I've pulled my hair out for long enough trying different things to see if it will work, but to no avail.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Adding Blank Attribute Fields To Blocks?

Sep 26, 2013

I am using ACAD Civil3d 2014. I have the map utility loaded

I created a drawing for a client and created blocks to represent handholes. They now need to go back to the blocks and add the HH number and fiber size. How can I add to blank att fields to the blocks so that I can send them the drawing and have them enter the information manually?

I searched around and only see solutions for adding attribute labels to the block.

AutoCAD 2013 :: Attribute Fields Losing Reference With Sheet Sets

Oct 15, 2012

I just opened up a project Sheet Set that i haven't worked on in a while, and all of my layout pages have a series of "#" in place of the fields.  For example, the name of my viewport should read "Head Detail", which is the name given to that view in the Sheet Set Manager, but instead reads "##############".  This also happens with my view numbers, callout bubbles, etc.

However, the information in my title block is still intact.  For example, the Project Name, Client Name, Page Number, etc. all read the correct values.

I tried opening the drawings in Reference Manager, but I see no alerts or errors.  I have had this happen before in previous versions going back to at least 2010, but they have always been small projects and I just recreated the views and callouts.  This is a large project however, and redoing this will cost hours, if not days of extra work.

In examining the fields, it seems like the problem fields are those defined by the SheetSetPlaceholder Filed Name, and the Placeholder type is irrelevent; they are all broken.  For other Field Names, for example CurrentSheetNumber, the references still work.

AutoCad 2D :: Rotate Block With Attributes - Messed Attributes

When I rotate blocks using ROTATE command everything is fine, but when I rotate blocks using PROPERTIES my attributes get messed.

I need to rotate several blocks at once with PROPERTIES, because I don't have time to rotate each one separately.

The same thing happens when scaling blocks, but this was resolved using the command BSCALE in the command line.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Create Block With Attributes That Automatically Complete X / Y And Z For Insertion Point Of Block?

Feb 14, 2013

Is there a way to create a block with attributtes that automatically complete x, y, z, lat, long for the insertion point of the block?

I am trying to complete text in paperspace that will automatically fill in the lat long of a point in model space without using a table.  I have tried field insertion with reference to a cogo point, but it doesn't give options for position on a cogo point.  If I pick a block with attributes, it will let me pick any attributes, and x,y position for the block.

Cogo points show all the information I need to propagate in the properties....but how do I get that to translate into the text using fields or some other method?

AutoCAD 2010 :: Inserting New Block And Entering Attribute Data By Selecting Another Block?

Aug 13, 2012

Is it possible, via whatever methods (lisp?) to be able to have a premade block with an attribute and insert it into a drawing then assign a value to it by selecting another existing block in the drawing and using one of its own attribute’s values?

For example, say I have a block representing a telephone and it had an attribute called "PhoneNo" and I inserted it into a drawing showing an office floor plan that had blocks in each office space that are telephone junction boxes with attributes "PhoneExtension".  I would like to be able to autocomplete the entering of the “PhoneNo” data by selecting one of the telephone junction boxes in the drawing and using its attribute’s value.

AutoCad :: Attribute In Title Block Exists In Block Editor But Not In Project

Sep 6, 2012

Autocad 2011, Electrical package,

I have an existing title block a few text attributes, to which I wish to add a watermark. I have added it in the block editor as a normal attribute, with the same details as the other attributes that work, only a different tag name. It has a default value, "DRAFT" and is tagged "WMARK". It works fine in the Block Editor, and If I test the block I can edit it to display whatever I want, but if I save the block and open it from Autocad proper, the attribute is not in existence, either as a default value, or editable from block properties, attribute editor or title block editor, whereas all of the other attributes are there. I have used BattMan to verify the settings of the attribute, and the only difference is that the others all have "L" in the "Modes" column, but I think that means that their position is "locked" whereas my new attribute is justified "aligned" therefore cannot be "locked" (This is some assumption on my part, as the documentation on the "Modes" column is almost non-existent). I cannot afford to waste much more time on this issue, as the boss is breathing down my neck, but editing watermarks on every drawing after every revision is frustrating, when it could be an attribute that is editable from the title block editor.

I need to match few attribute values from one block to different block. I download a lisp file called; ca.lsp which can match the single attribute value. I modified it for more than one attribute value matching. It is ok but still wish to overcome two issues for batch prcess

1. picking up the blocks by selection

2. click the alternative block numbers of times to match the numbers of attribute values I needed.

How to modify this lisp I can run it by block name selections instead of picking selection which enable me to run batch process for numbers of drawing? That will be good...

Problem I want to join these two items together. In other words, in the tree block that is scaled correctly i want the attribute data with the name, size etc. These blocks don't have a corresponding unique number or something like that.

AutoCAD 2013 :: Fields In Block Not Updating?

Sep 6, 2012

I've made a block with fields linked to attributes (so when I change the value of the "master" attribute, the field values will change).

*NOTE* the fields are contained within a piece of MTEXT and NOT within another attribute.

The fields will not read the "value" of the attributes they are connected to, unless I explode the block (and change the DEFAULT value), or use regular text instead of attributes.

FIELDEVAL - set to 31

UPDATEFIELD - returns: "2 fields found, 2 fields updated" but it doesn't actually update them.

Regen/Regenall/Save - does nothing

BATTMAN - SYNC - does nothing

Lastly, I noticed that if I use "loose" text outside the block, but still link the fields (that are inside the block) to that text, they will update when I change the text contents after regen. AutoCAD is just having trouble using fields+attributes.
