AutoCAD Visual LISP / AutoLISP :: Change A Specific Attribute From Specific Block To Specific Value

Dec 7, 2011

I've had a simple lisp I've been using for years that suddenly disappeared.  It required that you identify a block name, tag name, and the value that you want the tag to be.  All of this is performed via command line, so it is scriptable.  Since I lost it, I've been experimenting with -attedit.  This command comes frustratingly close to what I'm looking for, except it only appends an existing tag, or replaces a specific string within the tag; I can't get it to replace the entire tag, regardless of its value.

1> Any lisp routine that does what I describe?
or
2> How to make -attedit replace a tag value without regard to what the value currently is (like a * wildcard)?

AutoCAD Visual LISP / AutoLISP :: Convert Attribute Tag Into Attribute Value?

Dec 8, 2011

Background: Someone exploded an attribute block and copied it hundreds of times throughout a project, each time changing the Attribute Tag to match the Value they expected to appear in their drawing.  The drawing must be xrefed, so the attribute definitions do not appear.

(There is only 1 attribute in the block.)

Proposed Solutions:

1:AutoLISP routine which copies Tag data from Attribute Definition into Value of Attribute Block:

Prompt-Select Attribute Definition

Copy Tag data

Prompt-Select Attribute Block

Paste data into Value

(Allow repeat to speed workflow)(*PREFERRED*)

2:AutoLISP routine which copies Tag data from Attribute Definition into Default Value and creates a new Block:

Prompt-Select Attribute Definition

Copy Tag data

Paste data into Default Value

Create New Block

(Select Multiple Objects)(Creates tons of new blocks which are messy)

AutoCAD Visual LISP / AutoLISP :: Filter For Specific Attribute Tag

Aug 30, 2011

How would one modify

(= (cdr (assoc 0 data)) "ATTRIB")

in order to filter for a certain attribute tag named MYTAG

I am working with a custom LISP routine which reports out to a CSV file, an attribute extraction file - but I need my routine to ONLY evaluate blocks which have the MYTAG attribute tag. Then, if it passes that first check, it evaluates another list of Tags within those blocks - a list of tags which I have specified elsewhere in the code.

I am trying to modify my existing code as little as possible, and I think that if I do it at the line (which I've pasted above) - that will "pre-qualify" my selection set....

ATTACHED LISP IS THE FILE I AM WORKING WITH --- THE ACTUAL LINE I WANT TO MODIFY IS AT:

"(while (eq ENSUB "ATTRIB")"

AutoCAD Visual LISP / AutoLISP :: Evaluate That BOTH Attribute Tags Exist In Block And Extract

Sep 15, 2011

I was wondering if it was the COND statement that I would need to use to evaluate a block to confirm that two attribute tags existed  and if so, if would process the block to perform an attribute extraction of both of those tags. It would ignore blocks that only had one or the other attribute tags - and only extract the attribute values if the block had BOTH of the tags present - It could be blank, but it had to exist.

For example, I want to find blocks that have the attribute tag "PART_A" and "ID" - and then create a CDF that has the value of "PART_A" in the first column and "ID" in the second column. Then it closes my CDF file.

Then, I want it to scan my drawing again for blocks that contain attribute tag "PART_B" and "ID" and then re-open that CDF file and append the values so that the values of teh attribute "PART_B" is in the first column and the values of the tag "ID" are in the second column.

I have been playing with the following code --- is there anyway to modify the code to get it to do what I need? I have already removed the part that writes the header-row....

AutoCAD Visual LISP / AutoLISP :: Add Sequential Number As Suffix To Specific Attribute?

Nov 11, 2011

I currently have a LISP routine that will replace the value of a specific attribute name with sequential numbers in the order that the blocks are selected. Like TCOUNT for attributes - and it only looks for a specific attribute Tag Name called "ID".

However, what I want it to do now, instead of just putting the number into the attribute value, I want the number to be a suffix to the existing default tag value of the tag named "ID" which is "ADDRESS:" for some blocks and "ELEVATION:" for other blocks but the tag name that the routine always has to filter for is "ID". That way the user can pick anywhere on the block - not being forced to pick the tag we want to add numbers to.

What I need the new LISP to do is append a space and then a number to the existing tag value in the block, so that the result would look like "ADDRESS: 1", "ADDRESS: 2", "ADDRESS 3" or "ELEVATION: 1", ELEVATION: 2", etc. depending on whatever the default value for the tag "ID" is.

there are several hundred different block names - but they all have a Tag Name of "ID" - whose default value is sometimes "ADDRESS:" and sometimes "ELEVATION:".

AutoCAD Visual LISP / AutoLISP :: Substituting Text With Attribute?

Apr 29, 2013

I run into some issues where i need to change an attribute based on where a block is located on a drawing.  I started this routine to select the block, and then select the text that I want to change the block attribute to.  It seems like everything is working up until this point.  What I want to do is then replace the first selected with the second selection.  How would I go about doing that?  here's my code so far:

AutoCAD Visual LISP / AutoLISP :: Edit Attribute Text In Multiple Drawings

Block Name: Title Block

Tag Name: SH

Currently they come out with just the number 1, 2 , 3 etc I need to add a leading zero ie 01, 02, 03 etc

All the scripts I have will just replace the number with another

I just want to append the zero infront of the existing number

ie the code will need to read the existing number and decide if its less than 10. if it is less than 10, then the code just needs to append the leading 0. if its 10 or over, then do nothing.

AutoCAD Visual LISP / AutoLISP :: Losing Text Style When Use Entmod On An Attribute

Feb 25, 2013

I have a lisp function that is updating attribute values on a newly inserted block. The lisp function uses entget to read the attribute. Then it plugs a new value into the assoc 1 using subst, then uses entmod to update the attribute's value. It all works fine except that the attribute loses its style, i.e. assoc 7, somehow. If I do an entget on the attribute right after the entmod the assoc 7 is nil. The symptom on the drawing is that the attribute value is not visible until I close and open the drawing.

This only happens on a newly inserted block on existing drawings. If I close the drawing and reopen it then the lisp function works fine. Or If I insert the same block on a new drawing it all works fine. what would cause the assoc 7 to go missing after an entmod to change the attribute value?

AutoCAD Visual LISP / AutoLISP :: Selected Text To Tagged Attribute Including Prefix / Suffix

Apr 5, 2013

I have very little knowledge in complex Autolist routines and routine to do the following:

I would like to be able to provide a Prefix and/or Suffix via dialog then pick any line of text or multiple lines of text and have it concentrate.  For example:  Prefix:  First Floor Suffix: M100.  I pick the room text on an arch floor plan "Mechanical room" and the second line "100"  The result will be "First Floor Mechanical room 100 M100".

But lets take it a final step further; once condensed, I want it added to a perticular tag attribute in a block I inserted.

Example of how I would use it.  I insert a symbol for an addressable smoke detector that has several tags; one of them being Location.  I would use this routine to gather the information provided by the Arch floor plan and join it with the block attribute for exporting later for use in the Fire Alarm Panel Programming.

attached is a sample block with the attributes.

AutoCAD Visual LISP / AutoLISP :: Convert List With String Or Lists Of Strings To Text

May 22, 2013

Someday the light bulb is going off and I will understand mapcar and lambda. However.....I have a program that reads an excel file sheets. Sometimes the sheet only has 1 column, sometimes 2 or more.

I need to convert the saved values from the sheet to a list with the text spaced evenly. Unfortunately the text lengths vary. I would like a subroutine to pass the list to and return a list of strings with text aligned with padded spaces allowing for the longest text in each column. I am using the new list in a dialog box with fixed_width_font=true (so columns align).

Example 1-

(setq List1 (list "Col1-Line1" "Col1-Line2" "Col1-Line3-longer" "Col1-Line4"))
(AlignText List1)
returns
"Col1-Line1"
"Col1-Line2"
"Col1-Line3-longer"
"Col1-Line4"

so no padding needed

Example 2 -

(setq List2 (list (list "Col1-Line1" "Col1-Line2" "Col1-Line3-longer" "Col1-Line4") (list "Col2-Line1-longer" "Col2-Line2" "Col1-Line3" "Col2-Line4")))
(AlignText List1)
returns
"Col1-Line1        Col2-Line1-longer"
"Col1-Line2        Col2-Line2       "
"Col1-Line3-longer Col2-Line3      "
"Col1-Line4        Col2-Line4      "

 Example 3 -

(setq List3 (list (list "Col1-Line1" "Col1-Line2-longer" "Col1-Line3" "Col1-Line4") (list "Col2-Line1-longer" "Col2-Line2" "Col1-Line3" "Col2-Line4") (list "Col3-Line1-longer" "Col3-Line2" "Col1-Line3" "Col3-Line4")))
returns
"Col1-Line1        Col2-Line1-longer Col3-Line1-longer"
"Col1-Line2-longer Col2-Line2       Col3-Line2       "
"Col1-Line3-longer Col2-Line3      Col1-Line3       "
"Col1-Line4        Col2-Line4      Col3-Line4       "

AutoCAD Visual LISP / AutoLISP :: Inserting Routine Into Fields

Sep 4, 2012

I have a lisp routine:

(defun getLayout (pos / result cLayout layouts^ i len)
; pos = -1 return previuous layout name
; pos =  0 return current   layout name
; pos =  1 return next      layout name
 (cond
  ((zerop pos)
   (setq result (getvar "ctab"))
  ); case

[code]...

which basically returns either the current, previous or next tab name depending on what you call up. Any way to link this lisp to a field? I am doing some plan and profile drawings which contain match lines I would like to have the match line text automated. For example if I'm on layout called PP02 there would be two match lines in the drawing one would read MATCH LINE PP01 and the other would read MATCH LINE PP03 this lisp routine returns the correct variable but how do I loink this to a fiels?

AutoCAD Visual LISP / AutoLISP :: Custom Fields / Scales

Apr 25, 2012

I've successfully written a lisp routine to insert a scale bar dynamic block with attributes, gather the object id of a user selected viewport, and write fields to attributes for each of the numbers across the top of the typical scale bar as well as the scale name, for both architectural and civil units. I'm trying to come up with a similar dynamic blocklisp routine combination to do the same with view titles, and the associated scale callout. The catch in this case is that I'd like to display the scale as "NTS" if it isn't a proper scale. The "standardscale" object property option in the field dialog box gives me almost exactly what I want, except that non-standard scales are displayed as "CUSTOM" as opposed to "NTS". Moreover, I’d like this to update on the fly, if the viewport scale changes, the scale callout needs to change also, back and forth from “NTS” to a standard scale if need be.

is there a way to change that (CUSTOM NTS)? My research online seems to indicate that the nuts and bolts of fields are deeply rooted in ObjectARX, which is something I know very little about?

The natural followup to that question is, if I can't change "CUSTOM" to read "NTS", is there a way to wrangle this whole thing with reactors? I'm envisioning object reactors, created as a part of the insertion routine, for each individual instance of the block (there could very well be several in a layout, and multiple layouts in detail drawings), that would call another routine to evaluate the viewport scale, and if it didn’t match a list of standard scales, write NTS to the attribute. My issue is that reactors seem to only associate with one object, in this case that’d be the viewport, the reaction would cause the reactor to call the routine, but how does the routine know which block to update? Is there something from the viewport properties that I can add to the block name (or some other property) which will allow the routine to figure out which block to edit?

I’ve attached my scale bar code, and block, as reference context for how I plan to set the view title up.

What I'd like to do is edit a table where the cells are populated with fields.  I'd like to copy the last row of the table to a new row (fields and all), then change the fields of the row I copied FROM to text, and lock those cells.

I'd like to copy this row including the fields to a new row beneath it.  Then edit the cells of the first row to change the fields to text, and then finally lock the cells of the first row so that only the new row would update when the field properties change.  Eventually they will be populated with data from the Vault..
