I am running AutoCAD 2009 and am trying to print a layered PDF. I am not sure how to do it. BUT I downloaded AutoCAD 2013 and it can do the job just fine (under the Output tab). Which AutoCAD version did layered PDFs debut? Is there a way to do it in AutoCAD 2009?

I have been ateempting to use the DWG to PDF.pc3 to batch convert a bunch of drawings to PDF. Everything appears to work well but I keep getting layers in my PDF's which I do not want as the slow down printing. I have turned off "include layer information" in the pc3 custom settings and I have also set "Don't include" in the publish options.
I am obvisouly missing something somewhere as I continue to get PDF's with layers.
Why can I not create a pdf file from CS6 that preserves my layers, which are also known as OCG's, Optional Content Groups? In "save as pdf", I have layers checked and I am indicating I want to preserve Photoshop functionality, which causes the PDF/X box to go to "None". What am I doing wrong? I know there is a script for saving each layer as a pdf automatically from which I could build the layered Acrobat file I want, but it I'd like a one-step process. There is every indication that this should happen, but it does not.
View 4 Replies View RelatedThis post is regarding using Designer Pro to edit print ready PDF's (with crop marks, colour bars etc) created using Photoshop and Illustrator. I can do the edits, but if I try and export the file it corrupts (colour values change, some text changes col)
The files are supplied to me by a designer and sometimes I need to do urgent changes myself before going to print. I have unticked the 'add printers marks' box to avoid a double set of marks and colour bars and have the fonts installed too.
I am trying to send a file to a newspaper for print. Only thing is Illustrator makes the files massive.
A normal newspaper ad ends up to be 58MB when converted to PDF. When i make something in Indesign it only exports to about 8MB for PDF.

Align Objects feature is not working in trial version of Illustrator CC. Brand new MacBook Pro, have tried rebooting etc. Is this a software bug or a limitation of trial version?
View 5 Replies View RelatedIn the past two days, two-page PDFs that I save out of CS6 are printing with the second page upside down. I have tried resaving the documents—didn't work. Tried saving the documents as individual PDFs and combining the PDFs in Acrobat—didn't work. I have had my colleagues print them, and the second page is upside-down too. When I print two-page PDFs that I saved last week or longer ago, I have no problem at all. It just seems to be happening with recently saved PDFs. I didn't update any software on my computer between saving the PDFs that are printing correctly and when this problem began.
View 11 Replies View RelatedIn terms of feature sets, it seems like a few more things are needed to make this a full-fledged compositor... (so one doesn't have to leverage AE/Nuke/etc.).
In particular:
- 3d projector
- 3d tracker
- scene to point cloud (or even automated 2d to 3d conversion??)
- particle system
These things seem to be standard elsewhere... For us, it seems sort of crucial to add that. We think that not having to round trip is a really great edge of Smoke, and the integration between CFX and the time-line is very well done! However, then there's so many things missing compared to other packages. And those are the type of features that can really create more complex scenes and really speed up the work.
Also check out the new context-aware patch/move/paste tools in Photoshop. That would be a great addition to the paint module. CS6 has a timeline now and offers a lot more in terms of paint. Esp. if one can apply context moves to the entire motion sequence with auto-paint (that's something where PS CS6 still lags).
I am investigating best practice workflows for a feature length project shot on 2 Red Epic cameras and editing was done in Final Cut. I need to grade and finish the movie along with many other finishing requests like screen replacements, set clean up involving tracking and many other common DI requests and fixes. I use Resolve for most Grading but since there are so many FX shots that need work I was contemplating keeping everything in Smoke so I can make adjustments to the grade and FX in context of the whole edit.
Is this advisable for a 90 + min edit with Red footage? It might be doable but is it feasible meaning would performance be very sluggish? I have a 2009 Mac Pro, 24 GB RAM, 8TB RAID, RedRocket and Quadro 4000 card.
Would I be best off having the editor break the movie up into 10 - 12 minute sequences and then import each XML as its own sequence into one Smoke project?
If I import the Red footage at half res, because of performance, I am only using half of the info in the file. I have a RedRocket so should I import full res 4K to get maximum quality? Then let Smoke do a resize to 2K which is the final deliverable format? I figured that might be best for doing resizes and for sharpness.
If I work with proxies would all of my tracking and paint work be valid when I switch back to the 4K version for final render?

Toolbar (the new tab) -> text/input: none -> Load -> roll down menu to "text file" -> roll down menu to "UTF-8" -> click the text file i've created using TextEdit = nothing happens.
Have i missed something very obvious or is it broken?
In TextEdit i choose to make the text "plain" so i can save it as a UTF-8 but during the load of the textfile smoke "tells me" "Cannot open"
To hide the top menu bar and use the application in full screen, you must specify this setting in the Smoke Setup utility, which is found in the Smoke 2013 folder. In the Smoke Setup utility, under the General tab, set the Menu Bar option to no. When you hide the top menu bar, certain options, exclusive to the top menu bar appear at the bottom right of the screen. You must restart Smoke after making the change for it to take effect.

I have a problem with print from Autodesk Mechanical on a HP Designjet 500 24.
The system is a Windows 7 Professional 64bit.
When I select the printer, the printer returns to "none".
I have tried several drivers, the HP Designjet 500 plus 24 or HP DesignJet 500 24+HPGL2 card.
I can select the HP DesignJet 500 24+HPGL2 card, but since that driver is incorrect for my printer, it doesn't print.
I have found this same problem for a HP Designjet T610.
Here is says to use a driver version from 10 feb 2010 or later. But there isn't any driver around or after this date for the HP Designjet 500.
Other program's can print just fine through the original HP Designjet 500 24 driver.
Is it possible to save snapshot cfx in Smoke 2013 on mac or is it only on Linux version?

But after using the program for a minute or two and then clicking the icon in the top right for ALL my actions, I find that I now have only one-panel of actions in alphabetical order and it only goes through part of the Cs. Closing the program brings it back to normal, but again, after a few minutes use, most of the actions are again inaccessible.

For example, I may be doing a split screen effect or reposition within Axis or CFX, but I need to see my offline reference so I can have a baseline for my effects.

On one of my layers I have started getting "Feature was not saved in the target feature source" when I try to check in my data. In total there are 308 errors in the data table, all of which were features I deleted. They all have a featID of null and I cannot remove them from the data table. I need to fix these errors without going back and starting over.

I’m a long time Photoshop user but recently picked up LR4 to try to fine tune my workflow. I’ve noticed that after importing new files (RAW, I haven’t tried with jpg) into my library as I scroll through them (1-up, not in grid) the preview comes up and then after a second or so the WB changes to a much colder image.
Does LR4 initially preview at specific settings and then change to the individual image settings? Even if so, the final images seem very cool and I feel like I have to up the temp more than I should have to. My previous workflow was to sort in Bridge and then use ACR to import to Photoshop. I feel like I did much less tweaking of my WB this way. I feel like I’m starting from square one with LR4.
I am unable open some part files and assebly files which are made in 2012 version. I have 2011 version.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have recently upgraded to ver 2012 from ver 2000. I have numerous macros that were written for the older version that I need to utilize in ver 2012. I manually recreated them in the new version by typing in the commands from ver 2000. As I expected I am getting errors when I try to run these macros in Ver 2012. The mlayer command, for example, does not work. I am pretty sure I need to use the -layer command and have tried this but I still get errors. While I am relatively proficient in ver 2000 I am having some trouble finding commands in ver 2012 that match the old version. Below is an example of a macro from ver 2000 as well as my attempt to rewrite it in ver 2012.
