Photoshop :: Getting Multi-layered Image Into Another Multi-layered Image
Sep 4, 2012
I need to get a multi-layered image into another multi-layered image keeping all the layers/effects of both images. Can't seem to just copy/paste and I don't seen import function.

At tut "Multi-Layered Ring effect", step 4 we find this paragraph:
"Rename this channel to bevel. Once you have renamed the channel to bevel go to Filter/Blur/Guassian Blur and choose a value of 8. Then Guassian Blur it again with a value of 5, and one more time with a value of 1."
Why can't we put a bigger value to the gaussian blur effect, instead of repeating it three times with differents values? If i put 14 for the Gaussian value once, isn't it return with the same effect?

have to clone a Drawing-Object and the clone should use the same Layers. We expected that we can just select the Objects on the related Layers, Drag and keep a key (e.g. Ctrl) and Drop the copy
An example:
The original Object has an rectangle and a text on two layers:
Layer 1: Rectangle (Original)
Layer 2: Text (Original)
After cloning, we should have:
Layer 1: Rectangle (Original) Rectangle (Copy)
Layer 2: Text (Original) Text (Copy)

i'm learning the tut "Creating a Multi-Layered Ring effect", then when i've got at step "5", i had some problem, it tells us to "ctrl click" layer alpha1 at channels window, then go back to layer window and keep selected ring1 layer, but it doesnt work, cause i can't keep both layers selected, when i go to the apply lightning effects and change all the values to those mentioned at the tut, all i have back is a dark image, nothing alike to that one at the tut.

I think that "auto blend layers>panorama" is assumed to make panoramas from layers ... And, there is also "auto align layers" for making panoramas from layers.
I tried "auto blend layers>panorama" with an image and it can not make a panorama from the two layers trial image ... "auto align layers" can make a panorama easily from the same image.
So, I can see that there is a clear difference between the "auto align layers" and "auto blend layers>panorama" ...
But I could not understand the intention of designers of PS about the usage difference between the "auto align layers" and "auto blend layers>panorama"?

Basically, what i have is an image of a character. kind of a perspective view, 2.5D if you will :p
Each part of the character fits in a certain place in the layer order. He faces to the right, so the left arm/leg must be at the bottom, then the torso/head in the middle, and the right hand side of him at the top. It's a little more detailed than that, but you have the general gist of it, the order of each part must be maintained.
Now aside from that, i actually have two sets of parts. One is the base character, naked. And one is clothing/Armour for all those body parts. I'm planning to make several more outfits and right now it's getting kind of unmanageable.
Again, like the draw order quoted above, the outfit parts must also be in their correct place, each one exactly above the body part it goes on, and below the bodyparts that draw on top of it. So i end up with these two sets of layers interleaving, in a very messy way.
So, what i'd like to do, is figure out some way of sorting things a bit better. I'm not too familiar with the deeper workings of Photoshop, but i've heard of smart objects, linking layers, and grouping layers with the little folder button.
What i'd like to be able to do, would be, at a minimum, to toggle the visibility of an entire set of layers at once, without affecting the other sets. If it's possible, it'd also be nice to be able to transform, and use filters/adjustments/selections on an entire set of layers simultaneously, too.
What's absolutely important is that everything maintains it's proper position in the draw order, and everything is non-destructive. no merging of layers.

I used to be able to save a layered image as an .apng file [and set the delay time etc], which I would then convert to a gif using apng2gif. I found that the quality was turned out better than the other ways I've used to try and make gifs, and it seemed easier.
Anyway the other day I had to format my laptop and as a result all the programs were uninstalled. When I re-installed Paint.net I found that I couldn't save images as .apng anymore.
As far as I can remember the only changes I made to Paint.net were downloading some pyrochild effects.

I would like to know how to change the colour of a single layered, single coloured gradient (foreground to transparent) image. There is nothing more to it than that other than I don't want to use the hue/saturation adjustment as it's hard to get a specific colour.

I'm frequently creating .gif and .jpg images for web ads and these have to be within a strict 40KB size limit which is often tricky for larger formats. Now a new 'fireplace' format has been created that is an ad that is an image frame around the sides and top of a web page, consisting of two vertical pieces each side of the page and a horizontal bar along the top that links both the side pieces into a single seamless image. This means that I have to create three separate image files, each of which has to be less than 40KB and because each of these pieces is also quite large I will have to carefully adjust the images settings in 'Save for Web and Devices' to get the file size within this limit. My main problem, however, is how do I do that whilst ensuring that the visual consistency between the images is such that it isn't noticable where the three separate pieces join?
For example, if the side pieces have radically different style and colour of content to each other and the top part, saving these as separate .gif files could result in each file having a different indexed colour palette and number of colours etc, making the separate pieces look visually different and the places where they join look really obvious and clumsy.
What steps do I take to keep within the file size for the images whilst keeping the images looking seamlessly consistent? This isn't as much of a problem in .jpg but there may be times when using .gif is more efficient - is there a way to save an indexed colour palette for .gif and apply it across multiple files?
The master file is created as a single image in Photoshop CS4 and later split into three files which are saved as .gif or .jpg.

I'm sure I'm trying to do something fairly basic here but the manual doesn't seem to work for me re canvas re-sizing (unless I'm missing something).
I want to take several images straight from the camera (say 3-4Mb each) and combine them to eventually make a single JPEG. Is this done by resizing canvas? Is it a case of taking one image and resizing the canvas or starting with a blank new canvas?

In order to retain a wider gamut, I'd like to export a .raw file as a multichannel image (psd or any other file type to be opened in photoshop). Those channels should be e.g. c, m, y, k and two spot colours. As far as I understand, this can't be done from within photoshop, since an image presently in rgb can only be converted to a cmy mulitchannel image.
Would you achieve this by exporting the .raw from lightroom setting a colour space (under file settings) that contains such six print colours? And if yes, how ywould I produce such a colour space (that, if I understand correctly, must be present as a file itself, to be selected instead of the default choice between sRGB, Adobe RGB (1998), and ProPhoto RGB)? Or if there is another way to obtain such wider gamut image of more than cmyk.

According to the Help for Lightroom V1.0, I can choose to print my identity plate on each image on the page:
>To have the identity plate appear on every photo in a multiphoto template, select Render On Every Image. The identity plate is centered on each photo and can be moved, scaled, or rotated using the controls in the Overlays panel.
I can move the ID if it is rendered only on one image.
I cannot figure out how to move the ID plate once I have clicked "render on every image." It seems to be fixed in the center of each image.

I have to import a set of png's from Photoshop to Edge Animate. The actual source file is a Photoshop psd but I cannot import the psd into Edge so I have to painstakingly export each layer as a png and there are over 40 layers. Is there a way to take a layered Photoshop file and turn those layers into transparent pngs so when they import to Edge or another app the layers would remain intact but just as png's?

I'm assuming I need to put them all together to view the map, and I've never had any experience with layered .tif files. How do I view them? I open them in photoshop but I don't know how to combine them into one image. Do I need a special program for this?

I created a Photoshop file with text and background layers. The client wants me to place an animated GIF in the center of the file.
How do I get all but 3 layers which comprise the animated GIF to not go into the animated gif timeline on the bottom of the screen. I can only get this to work by turning off all the text and background layers. I need the timeline to just have 3 layers in it and only those layers move.

Why is it that when I save a file that has many, many layers to a PDF without layers as a copy that the file size is larger than flattening the layers and then saving the file as a copy to PDF? 19Mb vs. 5Mb?? Wouldn't saving a file without layers be the same as flattening the layers and then saving the file??

I have had this problem so much I have switched back to using CS5 Photoshop when I handle layers. For some reason when I have a multi-layered photoshop file in CS6 and I try to save - it gives me a program error. This doesnt happen all the time just when I have been working on a document for a long length of time ( maybe something to do with auto save?) The only way I can save the file is to flatten but then I loose all of my hard work and layers!

Why can I not create a pdf file from CS6 that preserves my layers, which are also known as OCG's, Optional Content Groups? In "save as pdf", I have layers checked and I am indicating I want to preserve Photoshop functionality, which causes the PDF/X box to go to "None". What am I doing wrong? I know there is a script for saving each layer as a pdf automatically from which I could build the layered Acrobat file I want, but it I'd like a one-step process. There is every indication that this should happen, but it does not.

I have created layered templates in CS6. I've saved them both as psd and tif formats (an industry requirement). I have no problems reopening the files but some of my colleagues get an error when opening the tif file. This is the error message "This document contains unknown data which will be discarded to keep layers editable. To preserve the original appearance instead choose flatten to load composite data as a flattened image."

OK, I have an image of a webpage layout approx 800 x 1300 I need to convert this to a layered psd. I know I can take the image and use the pen tool and cut each slice and make them all layers which is nuts. I also know how to slice up an image in PS and save as images and slices and did that, now all those slices that PS saved for me I need to turn back into layers that will sit in a .psd follow? But I can't seem to find a tutorial anywhere on doing this. I'm in CS3 and maybe I have been working too hard but this is boggling my mind. I see thousands of ready for the web templates all in Photoshop layered .psd's how are these getting done?
