Illustrator :: Paths Deformed When Size Is Decreased Significantly?

Aug 18, 2013

I made an artboard of 1500 x 1500 pixels with  some type in it, the type was converted to outline. Then i descreased the size of the artboard to 150 x 150 pixels and the type (outline) became deformed, So I had to use Illustrator CS6 to do it. I decreased the size of the artboard and the path kept its orginal shape.

Illustrator :: How To Maintain Pen Tool Stroke Settings (size / Brush) For All New Paths

Jan 7, 2013

In Illustrator I want to maintain the stroke settings while creating several paths with the pen tool.  However, every time I start a new path, the stroke settings revert to what must be a default.  E.g. I set 16pt + Variable width profile + Basic and stroke a path.  When I start a new path, the settings revert to 1pt + Uniform + Basic, and I have to reset back to my original. Other art programs I've used maintain the tool settings most recently used until they are manually changed.  How can I get the settings to stay through multiple uses of the pen tool?

3ds Max Animation :: One Object Create Deformed Pathway On A Plane

Nov 18, 2011

I am basically trying to have one object create a deformed pathway on a plane. Think of it like pushing a beach ball along some sand. I get the initial effect I want with using a spherical shaped Displace space warp applied/bind to a plane but I want the results to stay. So it leaves a trail on where is has been. I have read the suggestions about using the cloth modifier but I am not getting the look I desire.

CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X6 :: Text Deformed When Pasted Into Photo-Paint X6?

Nov 13, 2012

After creating text in Draw X6, I can't drop it into Photo-Paint without it appearing to be improperly cropped; i.e., some outer edges of letters appear to be cut off (see example below).  Converting the text to curves does not solve the issue.

Strangely, I have no problem if I copy the same text from Draw X5 - the results are excellent.

AutoCad :: Significantly Compress A DWG?

Jun 6, 2012

I'm a mechanical engineer with a lot of experience working with SolidWorks, but no experience with AutoCAD. My boss has asked me to take a 44MB .DWG and compress it to under 15MB so that it can be viewed on his iPad to show to clients (using the AutoCAD WS which is limited to opening files smaller than 15MB). I spent hours doing this several weeks ago and was just barely able to get it down to the required size. However, I was never able to repeat the process and to be honest, I'm not entirely sure how I did it. Now I have to do it again for a different file and am struggling to do so.

Since the file is just going to be quickly shown to clients it does not need to have all 400 layers or any other kind of accompanying details. Hell I could merge all the layers together if that would reduce the file size and I knew how to do that. I'm not at my work computer right now, but I think by clicking options under save and removing all proxy images (or something like that) I was able to reduce the file size to around17MB. I've purged the file as well but that only removed a few KB.

Lightroom :: Photos Look Significantly Better On A Mac

Jan 6, 2014

I took some wedding photos recently and had the opportunity to see  them on a Mac, after doing all my post processing on my PC, with what I  thought was decently calibrated monitors (Huey Pro), Color Space  ProPhoto RGB and 16 bits for Lightroom 5. For Photoshop CS6 I have sRGB  for a Working Space (this was a surprise because I thought it was set to  ProPhoto RGB). The edits I did on the wedding photos however were all  done in Lightroom.

I am not wanting this to become  a PC versus Mac arguement but wonder if it's possible to replicate the  image quality one sees on a Mac versus a PC? The difference was so  great, I was a walking advertisment to go out and buy a Mac!

I  did not print a copy of the shot but I would be very interested in  printing off a copy from my PC and then printing the same on the Mac,  fully realizing that the printers are different but again, I have a  Canon Pixma Pro 9000 on my PC the printer on the Mac is an HP all in one  but I am interested if there is any difference. I would hope the output  on my Canon would be better than on the HP.

Illustrator :: How To Set Transparency For New Paths

Nov 8, 2013

I trace a lot of line drawings in my work to add regions of color or to create a layered watercolor effect.

In previous versions on Illustrator (I currently use CS6 but I think CS5 worked the way I liked) I could set the opacity to whatever I wanted and new pencil or pen objects would be trasparent as I drew them. Now my paths are opaque no matter what my setting in the transparency menu and it's impossible to see what I'm tracing.

I used to be very productive drawing blobs of color and overlaying quickly for a nice watercolor effect, but now I have to draw a blob, select it and set it's opacity, then draw my next blob and do the same thing. Very time consuming and not good for quick evaluation of whether or not my image is looking good.

Illustrator :: How To Unmerge Connected Paths In CS5

May 12, 2013

I was wondering if there was a way to 'unmerge' a group of connected paths. The thing is whenever I click on one of the ovals, it selects a whole group of ovals instead of just the one I selected. The problem is that I drew an oval, copied it multiple times until I made a pile out of it, then copied that pile and made other piles. So whenever I click on one of the ovals, it selects the entire pile. Is there a way I can 'unmerge' or ungroup all the paths so I can  select just one of the ovals? I'm not doing this so I can copy them again, I'm trying to delete them individually but I really can't.

Illustrator :: Naming Paths IDs For SVG Files

Sep 30, 2012

I'm in the process of creating an SVG file. I'll have a large number of paths of which all have a seemingly random ID's assigned to them, for example path4758 (see below). Ideally, I'd love to be able to set my own ID for a path, it would work when I parse my SVG file with a Python script. Is it possible to change the ID that is assigned to a path inside of Illustrator? If so, how would I be able to do so?

Sample Path
<path id="path4758" fill="#6DBE45" stroke="#727271" d="M76.872,481.133C76.012,484.881,74.835,481.123,76.872,481.133z"/>

Illustrator :: How To Transform A Lot Of Paths Into Object

I have a .pdf output from a program I use at work. The .pdf can be opened in illustrator (IL)  and I have about a bezillion of objects which are mostly all paths (0.5 stroke and no fill of course).

Due to the large number of objects, IL crashes after a while.

Is there a way to transform/join the paths from one row into one object? I tried rasterize, but the problem is that I can't change the color of the according row afterwards - and I need to be able to change the color later.

Stuff I tried that didn't work"

Illustrator :: How To Combine Paths That Are Not Overlapping

Dec 11, 2013

So I'm working with type, and I want to place a very thick outline around the type it's self.Creating a thick outline unfortuantely doesn't just work, as it aligns it over the text strokes themselves.

Corel has an option to place the outline behind the object (see below)...but alas, illustrator does not... they have the align outside option (far less effective).I want this style without having to duplicate the text, and placing one with an outline behind it:

So when I convert the text to outlines, and apply the outside aligned stroke I get an overlap from the other charactersis there a way to combine objects that aren't overlapping into a single object, so when I align the outline around the text I don't get the above problem, or is there a way to place an outline behind an object without duplicating the object and adding a thick outline?
