Apr 2, 2013I downloaded a vector image from Shutterstock that said "Your Text Here" implying you can edit the text. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to edit the text. When I open the image in illustrator I can select the text but not edit it. Removing each piece of the letter distorts the background.

Mar 3, 2014Here is a picture of what I'm talking about, and the second picture is without the "img" layer that I am referencing to make the shapes:
The text layer is labeled "bg" and the shoe and pants layer is labeled "shoe" of course. I am not worried about the "E" because the text behind it adds to the "texture." I just want the shoe to be shown without the underlying text (the ground; "bg") layer. I would like for the text to not be shown beneath the shoe. I've tried all of the Pathfinder options. I could just outline the shoe I suppose and I guess I could do a clipping mask or something, but I don't if that'd work as I'm still a beginner at using Illustrator and I figured maybe there was an easier option.
Illustrator :: Live Trace On Text Image?
Apr 20, 2013I have a fairly good quality image with black text on a white background and I'm trying to trace it using live trace. I want to be able to manipulate it like normal text would allow you to. The font is a serif font and contains some thinner lines, so whenever I live trace it, it comes up quite uneven and all over the place. I've tried tinkering with the settings but nothing I do really seems to make much difference. My question is, are there any specific settings or modes that are best suited for doing traces of text, or any other methods for that matter? I can't recreate the text using a pen tool - it would take way too long!

So i placed the png files and image trace it with high fidelity photo as my preset.
I tried out all the preset,mode and so on,but it changed my smoke effects.That's why i chose high fidelity photo,bt i can't check the ignore white box, i can't remove the background.I tried low colour.but the smoke part become white colour ,obviously when i change the background colour.
Second method that i used was image trace(high fidelity photo)>expand>ungroup>delete the white part..but it doesnt work...

Sep 13, 2013I'm trying to create a logo whose letters have an image in them - which I've got figured out (turning letters to outlines, creating clipping mask with image). The trouble is, once the image is inside the letters, I can't figure out how to then give the letters a thin stroke outline. Is this possible? The image I've placed is high contrast black and white, so when I create the clipping mask, large chunks of the letters disappear.

Sep 6, 2013I am trying to fill my text with a texture or image.
Heres my process:
I type my text, select it and click on the "draw inside" button.
I then go to place and select my image.
The image comes tiny with dimensions of x- 430mm and y-340mm.
Obviously when i stretch it out to cover the text, the image becomes blurry. Whats happening here?

May 20, 2013Using Elements 9 I was adding black text to a .jpg image. Somehow during the process, the text being entered defaulted to a "wavy, illegible set of characters". Spent 30+ minutes looking at FAQs and have given up. I want to reset to default simple clear black characters. Closing and restarting Elements does not resolve this issue. Soon as I did, the text stopped being aligned along the foot of the page (which looks rotten, because the facing page is justified and so the spread is now no longer aligned.
I tried to I use "Text frame options" > align > justify again, but now the option to align is now greyed out.

Oct 23, 2011I am often using text within AutoCAD 2012. Here is what I do, look at the attachments:
1. Create the text using the mtext tool
2. Explode the text using the txtexp tool
But, when I explode the text, lines appear inside the text like in the image. I then have to explode the whole thing and delete these lines manually. Any tool or add-on to get around this annoyance every time I insert text.
Paint.NET :: How To Fill Text With Image But Keep Anti-aliasing On Edges Of Image
Sep 18, 2013Here is what I want to do. I have the letters 'XC' which I've played with a bit to look the way I want and due to anti-aliasing has nice edges. Now I want to basically fill those letters with an image. I can't figure out how to do this and keep the nice anti-aliased edges.
Current steps:
1. load image as base layer
2. Create new layer with text in it
3. using magic wand select a threshold that has smoothest edges on text layer
4. select image layer and copy the selection area... notice the hard edges of the finished result in the attached example. I want it nice and smooth and anti-aliased.
How to do this more elegantly? I've attached the basics of what I'm doing and the result.

When I go to File>Place and locate the text file, I click on Place. When I'm returned to my Illustrator CC document, the original area box is deselected and my cursor is loaded and ready for me to drag out a new area box. Shouldn't the placed text fill the original area box?
