I downloaded a vector image from Shutterstock that said "Your Text Here" implying you can edit the text. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to edit the text. When I open the image in illustrator I can select the text but not edit it. Removing each piece of the letter distorts the background.

I'm using CS5, on MacOSX Lion.
I have added 9pt vector text in multiple places of an image. Now I realize it should have been 8pt. I can add new text as 8pt but cant figure out how to change the point size of vector text that is already on the image. If I select a vector text object and then change the point size on the "Size" drop down menu at the top nothing happens. If I right click the vector object and select Edit Text I can change the actual text but not the font or its size. If I right-click the vector object and select Properties I can change stroke, fill, line style etc but this window does not include font or size. How do I change the font and point size for existing vector text objects?

What I'm trying to do is similar to putting text along a vector line, but I want to use an image that is tiled horizontally instead of text. I don't want the image to be tiled both horizontally & vertical, instead I want it to curve with the vector line like text does so that it looks like lace, either above or below the line, NOT along it. So i dropped the image into illustrator, and made a clipping mask, but if i go to save it, or print it, it tries to print space where the image is, even though it's only inside the vector outline. I have drawn up a logo/font (in autocad as thats what i know) and made a pdf from it to send to a printing company that only deals in vector format. i can import the image and get a trace of it but the frames add radii to corners and im having trouble isolating the vector/trace result to make a seperate file from (to send off)

Do you have any tips on what I should do and which tool to use instead? The thing is that I'm trying to skip the effort of drawing the whole image since that would take tons of time.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have created vector art in Illustrator 5.5 that is exported as a PNG file at 96 dpi. When we open the PNG file in Photoshop, the image size is larger in Photoshop than it is in Illustrator. Width was 232.8 px on Illustrator document and 233 on Photoshop document. Height was 181.4 px on Illustrator document and 183 on the Photoshop document. If I export as a 72 dpi PNG file then the size does not change. How can I export the image at 96 dpi without changing the size of the image?

I am trying to outline my text so that I can apply a gradient color fill and when I go to TYPE > CREATE OUTLINES it is greyed out. I try to expand the appearance and then create outlines. When I try to expand the appearance of the font, it is also greyed out.

I first create an artboard to the correct size I need (55x20 pixels), shrink my vector image to fit and then export to .png using the artboard as my boundaries (so that I get the correct size).Problem is, the resulting file is not 55x20, it is 229x83 (when I open in Photoshop). I can't figure out why the file is not saving to the correct size.
I have also tried opening the file in photoshop and resizing down, but that doesn't work either. My image becomes very distorted.I don't generally work in pixels or pngs...what would be the best program and process to do this. It doesn't seem like it should be so difficult, but for some reason it is!
I am experiencing image distortion with vector shapes or outlined letters with scale down. Shift + Alt + Click locks in the proportions of the image as a whole but what happens is individual letters/shapes become distorted resulting in a completely different look.

But when I try and select parts of the vector is just selects the entire image in a single big box.
How can I break it apart so that the individual vector parts and be copied, pasted, edited and so on?
