I am experiencing image distortion with vector shapes or outlined letters with scale down. Shift + Alt + Click locks in the proportions of the image as a whole but what happens is individual letters/shapes become distorted resulting in a completely different look.
View 1 Replieshi all i have a epson 7800 printer that i print onto canvas 99 % are ok as i do landscapes,sunsets ect i have started doing photos onto canvas people email me the image at 300 dpi then i edit image in photoshop cs3 the problem i have sometimes it looks distorted not all the time sometime they send me a image that is 2x4 inches dpi is 300 when i blow it up to 20x16 inches or bigger it does not look right i know the image should be bigger that they send me is there a way round this so when i blow up a image it looks like it has not been distored i am ok with photoshop as i am learning new tricks evryday any info would be great

I'm dragging and dropping the images from Finder and about half the time the images are coming in distorted and out of proportion, the other half of the time, they are maintaining their original proportions. What is causing the distortion? Is there someway to control the placement so the image maintains it's original proportions?

Tried resizing with selection tool holding down shift or option
Turning off align to pixel grid in the transform panel
Turning off align to pixel grid in the symbol option
Checking Enabled Guides for 9-slice scaling is turned on
Checking Scale Stroke & Effects is turned off in preferences
Ok i just installed Adobe Illustrator and want to convert some images i created in Photoshop to vector graphics so i can resize the image without it getting blurry. So i saved the image as a png file and opened in Illustrator. I chose high fidelity photo from the image trace menu and now the traced image is blurry. Here is what is happening.
The image is 300dpi png file format, i tried eps file format and same result. Resizing in Photoshop causes the images to get blurry, so i installed Illustrator to convert the images to vector graphics and resize without losing quality but this problem has now surfaced. How do i solve this?
I have attached the layered image (reducing opacity so you can both template and image). The vendor provided me a flat template, not a path, to do my artwork. As you can see I need to arc the image without distorting to fit a cup template. I am more comfortable in photoshop but I can export to AI if necessary to complete which appears what I need to do via envelope distort from what I keep seeing. However, the template provided is not a path. I tried to trace template shape manually with pen tool and use envelope distort to arc my image to conform but it looked very distorted and no even close to what I was trying to achieve. I tried to do tradition arc warp in photoshop but it still seems to distort proportions.

Problem: Ps CS6 incorrectly renders vector objects pasted from Adobe Illustrator. CS5.1 does not exhibit the problem.
Below is screenshot of artwork in Illustrator and which is copied to clipboard, followed by screenshot of "Paste as Smart Object" in Ps CS5.1 then screenshot of same paste in CS6. "Paste as Pixels" gives identical good rendering in CS5.1 and poor rendering (gray pixels which should be pure white in this example) in CS6. This is repeatable with other artwork.
Several weeks ago there was a complaint in this forum that Photoshop CS6 poorly renders vector artwork that is pixel-aligned in Illustrator. The Adobe response was that Photoshop is correct. Strange that CS5.1 can render pasted vector artwork perfectly and only CS6 makes a mess.
If I bring a raster image into Illustrator (CS5.5) and apply an Effect (Angled brush stroke) will the resulting image be a vector or raster?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm just now getting into using illustrator (currently on trial for illustrator cc) and I've taken a couple of my illustrations and attempted to use the image trace. The only way I can seem to get the image trace to actually produce an accurate trace is if I use a very large file size. So I take my scanned image (600 dpi 2000x 1891) and load it into illustrator, and here's where the problem comes in. Illustrator will not show my entire image on the screen. I zoom out as far as I can go and it's still cutting off the bottom and top of the image. When I try to scale the image it won't let me scale it down to even 90%.
So my question, is there anyway I can load my full size image into illustrator, image trace it, and then scale it down so I can see the whole image on my screen? It's very hard to paint and work around the image when it's getting cut off.
The first picture is what the whole picture looks like, but it's such a small file size it's blurry and won't image trace correctly.
The 2nd image is what happens when I load my full image size in, I'm scrolled as high as the page will go and the top is still cut off.
I am using Adobe Illustrator CS6 and need to adjust the map scale of an image. In my class, we were told to go to the Image menu bar then click on Image Resize, but I do not see any of these options on CS6- they are on CS5. How do I get to Image resize? Also, where is Image Mode?

So i dropped the image into illustrator, and made a clipping mask, but if i go to save it, or print it, it tries to print space where the image is, even though it's only inside the vector outline. Kind of confusing with the wording, see pics, but I just want the vector to cut out of the image, and get rid of the rest of the image.

Do you have any tips on what I should do and which tool to use instead? The thing is that I'm trying to skip the effort of drawing the whole image since that would take tons of time.

When I resize image, I press shift & alt button. And all image were outline stroked.
I plan to reuse many images and vector arts I've created. As of now, if I want to reuse an image or vector, i have to oepn the file and copy/paste image vector. Is there a faster way than this? Is there a manager I do not know of?

When we open the PNG file in Photoshop, the image size is larger in Photoshop than it is in Illustrator. Width was 232.8 px on Illustrator document and 233 on Photoshop document. Height was 181.4 px on Illustrator document and 183 on the Photoshop document. If I export as a 72 dpi PNG file then the size does not change. How can I export the image at 96 dpi without changing the size of the image?

Working in CS5.I have a vector image that I need to resize and save as a .png. I first create an artboard to the correct size I need (55x20 pixels), shrink my vector image to fit and then export to .png using the artboard as my boundaries (so that I get the correct size).Problem is, the resulting file is not 55x20, it is 229x83 (when I open in Photoshop). I can't figure out why the file is not saving to the correct size.
I have also tried opening the file in photoshop and resizing down, but that doesn't work either. My image becomes very distorted.I don't generally work in pixels or pngs...what would be the best program and process to do this. It doesn't seem like it should be so difficult, but for some reason it is!
I realize this is probably simple, but I have taken a simple graphic pattern jpeg and I've used image trace to trace it in Illustrator CS6.
But when I try and select parts of the vector is just selects the entire image in a single big box.
How can I break it apart so that the individual vector parts and be copied, pasted, edited and so on?
