Illustrator :: Vector Image Distortion Upon Resize In Adobe CS6

I am experiencing image distortion with vector shapes or outlined letters with scale down. Shift + Alt + Click locks in the proportions of the image as a whole but what happens is individual letters/shapes become distorted resulting in a completely different look.

Illustrator :: How To Convert Images To Vector Graphics And Resize Without Losing Quality

Nov 27, 2013

Ok i just installed Adobe Illustrator and want to convert some images i created in Photoshop to vector graphics so i can resize the image without it getting blurry.   So i saved the image as a png file and opened in Illustrator.  I chose high fidelity photo from the image trace menu and now the traced image is blurry.  Here is what is happening.

The image is 300dpi png file format, i tried eps file format and same result. Resizing in Photoshop causes the images to get blurry, so i installed Illustrator to convert the images to vector graphics and resize without losing quality but this problem has now surfaced.  How do i solve this?

Illustrator :: Vector Graphic Looks Pixelated When Scale It Down

Sep 28, 2012

I'm using CS5 on Mac OSX 10.7.4 and the graphic looks pretty good at 100%, and prints just fine.  The design shop is trying to put it on a coffee cup though, and when they scale it down, it looks horrible.  Pixelated everywhere.

-antialiasing is on
-resolution is 300 DPI
-align to pixel grid is not checked.

Here is a screen shot at 100%

Here is a screen shot after I scale the object 70%...

Illustrator :: Outlined Text Distorts Upon Export To EMF?

Mar 22, 2013

I'm working on headers and footers for a client to use in MS Word. The headers and footers are mostly text-based, and look bad in any rasterized image format, so I think the best option is to export to EMF.

Even though I have all of the fonts I'm using installed on Word, it's still treating some of them strangely. So I'm trying to convert the text to vector images with the Create Outlines command. But when I export the image to EMF, I end up with distorted text. It distorts the logo image portion too, but it's less noticeable than the text.

I'm using CS5 on an iMac running OS 10.6.8.

Illustrator :: Object Distorts When Using Minus Front?

Mar 28, 2013

I am creating some icons with numbers on. I need them to be on a transparent background. I have created the main shape and I simple what to cut out the number that I have put in the middle so it will appear the same colour as the background. I have successfully done this with some of the icons by using the following process:

Create the Number with the text tool > Create Outline > Select Object and main Shape > Use Minus Front Path Finder Tool.

This was all going really well until I got to 4. When I minus the number object the shape distorts so the upright column of the 4 becomes wide then the original text version. The change is too much to ignore. The same problem happens with 10, 11 and 12. The problem appears to be with the upright columns but strangely is not a problem with the 1.

It looks like the path anchors are snaping to the grid I have no the Artboards. The scale of the distortion depends on the distance from the nearest gridline. I have tried turn off snap to grid and the grid itself but I still get the same result.

Illustrator :: Can Use Transform Tool To Resize Individual Text?

Dec 11, 2012

I just installed Illustrator CS6 trial. I have been on Illustrator 9 for years. I am used to clicking on the type tool, then clicking on the artboard and typing a single word. I am not using actual text boxes. When I do that in CS6 I cannot get a bounding box to show me how to resize it using the transform tool (arrow tool). I've gone to view>show bounding box, but it does not do anything.

Photoshop :: Batch Resize/Scale

Feb 15, 2009

I just downloaded the Photoshop CS4 trial to try something.

I need to scale and resize images for use on our web site.

Our images are not evenly proportioned, some are 400 x 400 or 400 x 200, ect.

I would like to make them scale down to fit within a 240px x 240px image.

We have thousands of images to do and 3 other sizes to scale the same images to.

Can this be done using the batch automate and record the steps?

AutoCad :: Text Resize On Different Scale

May 22, 2011

When I create new drawing, for example, the drawing looks good in 1:400 scale and text I use 1mm height for bearing & distance and it looks good and readable(not too big or small). However, when I create the new drawing and scale it to 1:2500, I don't know what size should I set for my text so it will looks good and readable. So, my method is to set random size so it would look good in model and paper size the print it out. But, sometimes, the text will looks big or too small on actual paper. Then I need to repeat the process till it readable.

My question is, can autocad scale the text size automatically when I create new drawing at different scale .

AutoDesk Smoke :: Resize - Simple Way To Scale Proportionally?

Nov 19, 2012

i have an image H:3639 W:4849 , now i want to resize it proportionally down to smaller resolution. Why there's no fast way to do scaling proportionally for example 2x , 3x or 1/4x etc. In above example , the only way is by using calculator and input a new custom destination resolution. My opinion is : there should be a button to grab whatever the source size and paste it into the destination h/w and then need a feature to lock the ratio , so while i change the w , the h will adjust automatically (simply like the 'prop' mode in the source area) . Right now i have to do too many 'click' and 'click' just for that simple task.

Illustrator :: Layered Vector AI File With Raster (Photoshop) Layers Included As Vector Layers?

Apr 20, 2013

I've been using Illustrator since the late 80's but this request just now came up for the first time, twice in one day: the clients each want me to send them layered files (OK-no problem) wherein all the layers, even the raster layers, register as vector layers. Or at least all the layers, regardless of file-type (vector or raster) are contained within an unflattened Illustrator file. One of the clients specifically asked that the Type layer (No problem-all the type is on one layer) be  "vector mapped", whatever that means, while all the other layers can be Photoshop layers, if necessary.  So how do I hand them an open, unflattened Illustrator file containing both vector art and raster art? Can it be done in Acrobat, as a PDF? I'm working in AI and PS CS5, but I can and will upgrade if I have to.

Any help appreciated.
The reason I have to paste to wordpad first is I often have to complete documentation on systems that do not have access to PS so I paste to wordpad to save the clipboard images I need.

Lightroom :: 3.4 Distorts Images In Develop?

May 16, 2011

This problem started when I updated to Lightroom 3.4 on my new Windows 7 Toshiba Portege R700 laptop. I did not experience it with prior revs of Lightroom 3 on the same laptop. Here are the symptoms:

When I enter Develop, then some of my images stretch upwards when displayed on a second large monitor if the image is as wide as possible, and stretch sideways (inwards) on my laptop monitor if the image is already as tall as the laptop monitor allows. in either case, the image is distorted so that it is appears taller and thinner. When I exit back to Library mode then the image is normal in appearance again. Some images do the opposite and stretch downwards! The files are all RAW. It appears to be a problem only with Olympus RAW (.orf) files and not with Canon RAW (cr2).  The same thing happens when I disconnect the secondary display.I can do this multiple times.I took an image, made a virtual copy, reset it and the same thing still happens. There is another similar post where the solution was to start with a fresh preview file. I tried that and it did not work (I closed lightroom, renamed the preview file, and then openned Lightroom again forcing it to create a fresh preview file. One some images, I find that my mask has shifted over. For example, I have an image where I desaturate everything apart from the main figure. Now, the main figure is partially desaturated, as if the mask has moved sideways when I export the image.
