Photoshop :: Edit Preexisting Vector Image In CS5
Nov 13, 2012I know I can make a vector image in CS5, but is there a way I can import an existing vector image (i.e. an .ai image) and then edit it in Photoshop?
I'm using CS5, on MacOSX Lion.

I downloaded a vector image from Shutterstock that said "Your Text Here" implying you can edit the text. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to edit the text. When I open the image in illustrator I can select the text but not edit it. Removing each piece of the letter distorts the background.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am making myself a logo in photoshop. I have made all the letters that will be used, but they are all seperate entities as most of you who have used vectors know. I would like to interconnect the letters, as well as an angel I have made to go above the letters. My question is, how can I join two seperate vector images into one vector image. For example, joining a letter E with a letter D. I wonder if theres a way to do this without having to delete part of each image and then re-draw, which is a pain. Sorry if this isn't really clear, but its hard to explain.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am having trouble doing this in my current software, Serif Drawplus, PSE, Photoplus, (I have Gimp but haven't used it ever yet). And I am considering buying X6 for use in other projects. So, can x6 do this in either Photo Paint with a bitmap, or in X6 with a group of Vectors?
I want to wrap a bottle with a logo. The mesh warps aren't working for me in the above applications, and envelope warping will not work either. Transform-Warp is not present in PSE. I mention that because I see a tutorial for PS using that. How would Corel X6 Suite do this? I am considering buying the software once some questions I have about it are cleared up. I wish Corel would make the manual and tutorial videos public. I'd rather download the trial for actually using it rather than trying to see if some feature is present, or a workaround for a feature a competitor has.
I am also hoping to make in this project, some 10-20 different bottles with the logo on, of different sized bottles and different rotations of the bottles. Plan D is acquainting myself with Blender, but lets hope I don't have to go that far!
I created a vector in Illustrator but want to edit it in Photoshop with some of the effects Photoshop offers. Can I do this and have it still remain a vector?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm running Photoshop CS6 (13.0.1) 64bit on a MacBook Pro running OS X Lion. About 60% of the time when I try to double click a vector smart object instead of opening it up in Illustrator I get an error that says, "Could not edit original smart object because of program error." This most recent time it was a smart object from vector data I copied and pasted from Illustrator into Photoshop.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been trying to find out whether gimp can import and edit vector graphics made e.g. with Inkscape as vector graphics and save them as vectorgraphics, for example in pdf. I'm mainly asking this because I need to make some ads for printing and they need to be in good quality and the best way to keep simple graphics in printable quality is to use them in vector graphics. An ad usually requires a background image and for editing those I need gimp. So in the end I need to combine these two elements and when I do it in inkscape I can't practically do anything to the background image, not even crop it properly, if it needs something to be done (It's kind of hard to imagine what the image needs when you don't have the other elements on top of it). To my mind it'd be a lot easier to finish it in gimp where I can do something to the background images, but is it possible?

View 4 Replies View RelatedWell, the title pretty much says it all... if you have a pattern set that you've already created, how do you continue to add new patterns to it while keeping those already there? I'm going to end up with a few gazillion of them because I do texture maps in Poser. So I HAVE to be able to keep adding new patterns to the Plaid Set, the Polka Dot Set, the Purple Monkey set... But I can't find this info anywhere.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have added 9pt vector text in multiple places of an image. Now I realize it should have been 8pt. I can add new text as 8pt but cant figure out how to change the point size of vector text that is already on the image. If I select a vector text object and then change the point size on the "Size" drop down menu at the top nothing happens. If I right click the vector object and select Edit Text I can change the actual text but not the font or its size. If I right-click the vector object and select Properties I can change stroke, fill, line style etc but this window does not include font or size. How do I change the font and point size for existing vector text objects?

I have a logo that I created for test purposes at a lower resolution. Is it possible to take the active selection of the logo and create a vector from it without having to manually trace over it with the pen tool or adobe illustrator (I do not own illustrator). If I could do this within Photoshop that would be my preference.

I have a requirement to take a relatively simple technical line drawing (think circuit diagrams etc) that have been hand drawn and then somehow convert them into a nice sharp and neat diagram that looks like it had been done in illustrator or Visio.
I know that image editing tools such as Illustrator allow you to "vectorize" a bitmap image but the thing I don't about is whether any of the applications can automatically straighten and correct lines and give me a "nicer" picture as a result?
Does anyone know if this sort of thing is even possible?

View 2 Replies View RelatedSaving an image in Photoshop CS6 as .eps is actually True Vector quality?
Will the images I save as .eps be totally scaleable without losing any quality?
If not, is there anything I can do to the (tons) of images I have already made to make them not lose quality?
I tried opening a .eps file/image in Inkscape which as I understand is a vector program but the open file doesn't recognize the .eps files.
The .eps seems file w/in Ps itself but now I'm wondering about other programs. I'm so new I don't even know if that makes an sense.
Also, if Ps .eps files tend to lose scalable quality then is there a way in which I can create images as true vector or as images that won't lose their quality? Do I need an other program?
If i have a text layer manipulated in photoshop. how can i save it as vector image to import in swift 3d
when i choose export to eps and import in swift 3d it give me an error massege that the file does not contain outline or filled shapes
how can i change the text in phtoshop to vector shape.
I've searched for a way to make a simple, one color image into a vector image. The best thing I've found is a .atn thing fromsPECtre. I've unzipped it but really don't understand photoshop well enough to use it.
I'd like to learn how to actually do it my self. I can easily make the image into a selection, all I need is to make that selection into a solid vector.
How do I do this?
I've got a vector image which I need to make look like it is on the front of a beer glass. (Raised glass effect which I plan to do in bevel and emboss)
My problem is, I want the vector image to look as if it is really on the glass, so I need it to curve with the pint glass on the bulbous lip that goes around near the top, Any idea how I can get PhotoShop to simulate this effect?
