why I can't edit the "Vector Graphics" section in my PC3 file? See attached PDF. I belive that this is causing some undesired results when publishing to the plotter.
View 4 RepliesI've been trying to find out whether gimp can import and edit vector graphics made e.g. with Inkscape as vector graphics and save them as vectorgraphics, for example in pdf. I'm mainly asking this because I need to make some ads for printing and they need to be in good quality and the best way to keep simple graphics in printable quality is to use them in vector graphics. An ad usually requires a background image and for editing those I need gimp. So in the end I need to combine these two elements and when I do it in inkscape I can't practically do anything to the background image, not even crop it properly, if it needs something to be done (It's kind of hard to imagine what the image needs when you don't have the other elements on top of it). To my mind it'd be a lot easier to finish it in gimp where I can do something to the background images, but is it possible?

Iunembed command ask what to name tif after it is unembed. Is there a way to detach the old embed image and run the other parts of the command? Keep in mind I change the lisp little bit.

I have an .eps file I am trying to import into corel 11 and it keeps coming over as an image and not vector. I also am getting error messages when I use the filters.

I know there are tracing programs available, but I want to make it as hard as can be so this logo will not get re-edited.
I designed it for a customer (belongs to us) they did not contract/pay us for it. We do all of their clothing. She is sponsoring an event and the event coordinator wants the logo to put it on their advertising. Just don't want it to end up on other clothes.
Can you download a Google Docs Drawing file as a file.svg type And then import it to CorelDraw and convert it to a bunch of CorelDraw vector based lines that can be modified like any other CorelDraw line drawing?
BTW, this is a drawing of a character and is simply b&w lines & shapes on a white background.Line widths vary in the original and we want to be able to modify them even more using all the tools in CorelDraw.
I was able to open the .svg file with CorelDraw but when attempting to 'Edit' a line in the drawing I couldn't change the line width... so it isn't behaving like a CorelDraw vector drawing.
I would like to know about the permission needed to edit the autocad file. In my folder there are many autocad files. I need to give the edit permission to one particual file to a specific user.
First i tried with folder level security. But i failed.
1. I have given full permission for the particular user (Except: Delete,Write Attribute) in the folder level. But when i tried to open the drawing file, it throws an error. Error: "File is currently using by the user1. Would you like to open the file read-only?"
2. I have given full permission for the particular user (Except: Delete) in the folder level. Now i could open the file successfully. But after editing, when i tried to save the document, it throws an error: Error: "Unable to save to drawing D:TestTest.dwg as it is being accessed by another session. Drawing saved to "D:Testsav460B.tmp"
3. Now i have given full permission for the particular user including Delete permission in the folder level. Now i could save the drawing succesfully after editing.
From this , i guess, it needs delete permission in the folder level to edit and save the drawing (I understood this is for creating/deleting tmp/.bak files during saving the document.). But giving delete permission in the folder level is very risky.
The imported file is probably from Illustrator. The vector element in question is text converted to curves with a CMYK bit map fill. CorelDraw X5 seems unable to extract the bitmap fill from the vectors. What's up with this, is there anyway to extract the bitmap fill?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI want to add an attribute to a BLK file I have from a past release. Using this .BLK file, I can create a table from attributes in my drawing using a LISP routine.
It seems there is no way to create or edit a .BLK file that I can use for this in ACAD 2011, it only creates .DXE files.
The problem with the .DXE file is that is saves the drawing that the original extraction is performed on. When I use the .DXE in another drawing, it uses the original drawing data unless I manually "delete" the old drawing reference using the dialog box in the extraction wizard.
The .BLK file works perfectly, but I want to add an attribute. How can I create a new, or edit my old .BLK file?
Will I have to reinstall an older version of AutoCAd to accomplish this?
I am having trouble doing this in my current software, Serif Drawplus, PSE, Photoplus, (I have Gimp but haven't used it ever yet). And I am considering buying X6 for use in other projects. So, can x6 do this in either Photo Paint with a bitmap, or in X6 with a group of Vectors?
I want to wrap a bottle with a logo. The mesh warps aren't working for me in the above applications, and envelope warping will not work either. Transform-Warp is not present in PSE. I mention that because I see a tutorial for PS using that. How would Corel X6 Suite do this? I am considering buying the software once some questions I have about it are cleared up. I wish Corel would make the manual and tutorial videos public. I'd rather download the trial for actually using it rather than trying to see if some feature is present, or a workaround for a feature a competitor has.
I am also hoping to make in this project, some 10-20 different bottles with the logo on, of different sized bottles and different rotations of the bottles. Plan D is acquainting myself with Blender, but lets hope I don't have to go that far!
I have a complex grading situation with a sewer near a drainage channel. Long story short.... I need to somehow look at my alignment section by section and try to establish a feature line that will represent my proposed top of slope. There are a ton of different constraints that I will not go into. My ultimate need is the ability to establish a feature line or 3d pline from the section view. I know that this is somehow possible via corridors. Im working with just an aligment and cross sections at every 25 feet. Is this possible?

In my idw, when I right-click on my section view line (or the section view itself), I want to change the section depth from full to some distance. Problem is there is not a "Edit Section Properties" in the context menu.
There are other section views on this sheet and they will display "Edit Section Properties" in the context menu.
Any clues as to why I dont get a context menu on just this one section view? I could delete the view and redimension everything, but I had rather not.... Its got several dims on it.
Cant post the file either... its pretty large.?The idw itself is 16mb, not counting all the parts/assemblies.
I often create graphics in CorelDRAW export it and inserting it into my MS Word documents and finally convert my documents to pdf. When it is vector graphics, exporting as EPS works fine: The increase in file size is small and lines are displayed perfect independant of how much you zoom in the final pdf document. When I handle bitmaps, I usually export as JPG (or PNG), which works well too. My problem arise when I have a mixed vector and bitmap image. I have imported a bitmap into CorelDRAW and created some lines on top of it. I want to export it as a whole. If I export as EPS, the final result is fine, but filesize has increased considerable. If I choose to export as jpg, the filesize is fine, but the lines are getting slightly blurry. Is there a way to get the best of both Worlds - resonable filesize and perfect lines? Maybe settings in some dialog??

I very much dislike that AutoDesk made it so easy to edit the project wide description lines and left almost no way to customize the per-drawing section in the same way. One would think if you making a product to fill the need of many industries you would add a way to customize it from vanilla?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been using Illustrator since the late 80's but this request just now came up for the first time, twice in one day: the clients each want me to send them layered files (OK-no problem) wherein all the layers, even the raster layers, register as vector layers. Or at least all the layers, regardless of file-type (vector or raster) are contained within an unflattened Illustrator file. One of the clients specifically asked that the Type layer (No problem-all the type is on one layer) be "vector mapped", whatever that means, while all the other layers can be Photoshop layers, if necessary. So how do I hand them an open, unflattened Illustrator file containing both vector art and raster art? Can it be done in Acrobat, as a PDF? I'm working in AI and PS CS5, but I can and will upgrade if I have to.

I downloaded a vector image from Shutterstock that said "Your Text Here" implying you can edit the text. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to edit the text. When I open the image in illustrator I can select the text but not edit it. Removing each piece of the letter distorts the background.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a floor joist/subfloor/finish floor system where the joists are hung from the sill inside the foundation wall, this means that the joists stop at the wall but the subfloor will continue over the sill plate and the finish floor will stop at the inside edge of the bottom wall plate. As near as I can figure, in order to get this to show correctly in section I really need to create the complete floor assembly by stacking 3 separate floor sub-assemblies (framing, sub-floor, finish floor) is this correct? (this is the method I'm currently using) Is there a way to manipulate the sub-components in section that I haven't found?

However, when I try and do my dimension in paperspace, they are not correct. They only time they seem to work is when I do the scale at 1:1. But If I redraw the object I can do whatever scale I want and it works fine.

Help says that the Track path System Variable should be = 1, but when the button is on, the Variable = 0. If I set the Variable = 1, it shuts the button off.

About 60% of the time when I try to double click a vector smart object instead of opening it up in Illustrator I get an error that says, "Could not edit original smart object because of program error." I can add new text as 8pt but cant figure out how to change the point size of vector text that is already on the image. If I select a vector text object and then change the point size on the "Size" drop down menu at the top nothing happens. If I right click the vector object and select Edit Text I can change the actual text but not the font or its size. If I right-click the vector object and select Properties I can change stroke, fill, line style etc but this window does not include font or size. How do I change the font and point size for existing vector text objects?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI received a cross section file that was created in Micro Station and need to calculate the cut and fill of the project. There is no way to get the 3D files the cross sections were created from. Everything in the file is exploded and flat.
I was going to hatch under and above the existing grade to find the cut and fill and then thought about the scale of the cross sections. In model space the cross sections are 1=1 H and 1=10 V. When I do a hatch and get the area it is giving it to me way high. If I just divide by 10 I don't think that is right either since the hatch areas are very irregular.
Scale the cross section vertical down by 10 and don't change it horizontally. I don't know if this is possible.
Somehow set the horizontal and vertical scale and hatch above and under to get the areas. I don't know if this is possible either.
I am currently using AutoCAD 2010. I'm placing some length dimensions on partial sections of a circle and the arc dimension comes straight out from the chosen points as a dimension of a flat line does. I would like it to look like an angular dimension without having to use a text override. Is there any way to change that to where the placed dimension lines follows the edges of the section instead of coming straight out?
