I am finally trying to take advantage of the "fields" in autocad. I created a section label block which has the scale of the detail ( which I have to change manually). I want the scale to change with the viewport scale.

Found a link to some code (URL...) to automatically place an Mtext field to label assemblies. It was written for C3D 2009/2010 but I can't get it to work for 2011 - any VBA gurus care to take a look to see if it will run (or not) on 2011.

The text in question can be modfied through the Name variable of the SectionDrawingViewType object. However, this approach changes both the name of the SectionDrawingViewType object, as well as the text next to the section line. Is it possible to access just the section line text through the API? Is this text field exposed? Which object type is this text field?
For some reason, the label styles is not available for all corridor. i have multiple corridor and want to label the grade (%) of a an element. See attached picture.How do i activate to label features on different corridor

In the Multi-Section Creation tool i couldn't find a way to edit or remove Grid Break Labels ,aslo after creation i could Edit it each indvidual Section but not allover all Sections ?
How i can Editit ? also how ican do soin creation And why do i feel that the 2012 is Different from 2010 ?

I'm trying to figure out where to control the section label sets that are attached to the section "entities" when I create multiple section views. It seems to default to 'standard' for all entities sampled. I have created the section label sets that I would like to use for each entity, eg. subgrade, finished grade etc., but don't know where to select it when sections are created. I can get desired results by selecting each entity in a section view individually, but it's very tedious since I will have over a hundred sections views to show with 3 entities sampled each. These sections were created from sample lines across multiple surfaces and not from a corridor. It seems logical that the section label set would be tied to the section style, but I don't think it is. The only thing the section style seems to control is the layer and a name, it's nearly useless.

I'd like to customize the way our section marker terminators look. More like an architactual style drawing.
I'd also like to add the sheet number that the section is cut from to the section view label.
As far as I can tell, this propertie is not available for insertion in the view lable. Is there a way to make it available?
The need for these changes come from larger drawing sets were the section is cut on one sheet and shown on another. We'd like to link the sheet numbers in both the section marker terminator and view label.
When I use a layout size such as A3 in paper space, the section view label text size is the same as it is in model space (when both annotative scales are the same). However, when I choose 11x17 as a layout size, the section view label text size is exetremly small.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to leave a SSM field empty on some sheets (Custom Property set to Sheet).
I am using SIMPLEX font in ACAD 2012 on Win 7 64bit.
I have tried using %%U as both default value and sheet value and I get a dot plotted.
If I use U+00A0 or Alt+0160 as default or sheet value I get the actual code showing or the 4 dashes instead of a space.
I have also tried 2 spaces to no avail.
Looks like the only solution is to delete the link to the field and insert it when I use it. Annoying :-(

It it possible to link a field to a layer name? this would make the job that I am doing alot easier. For some reaso the company that I currently work for wants to put the layer discription next to the revcloud instead of just using a delta.

Some of our drawing titles are several lines, and instead of wrapping inside the field box in our titleblock, the text just spreads out all over. I'd rather not go back to the old method of having a custom property for Line 1, Line 2 etc....

I have chosen 'object', then selected a line (floor level line lifted to the correct height in the Y axis) then selected 'start' as the property to display, Format: Current units. The problem is the current units are mm but I want the floor levels displayed in Metres but when I try to change this by using the 'Additional Format' button the 'Conversion factor' box is greyed out so I cant convert the value and it wont let me manually edit the Field expression or else I would manually add [1e-007]

Is there a setting that would create a date field that updates only once during the life of the drawing? I would like to create a true CreateDate field where once I save the file the first or second time it stays the same date from there forward.
I have looked at the FIELDEVAL settings. I have a plotted date on my drawings so maybe a general date field is not necessary?
Round off of the value (length) of an inserted field, I wanted to make a round off for the field value that represents the length of a line but sounds that there is no option to do so.
For example:
the 2568 will be rounded off to be 2570
the 2563 will be rounded off to be 2565
This option is available for the dimension objects and wondering why it not offered for the inserted fields.

I would like to link a series of text lines in an autocad drawing to there corresponding fields in an excel sheet, I can not use tables in autocad because of the way other software uses the text in autocad. I have attached files of the text layout in acad and of the sheet in excel. One thing that keeps me from using tables in acad is that every line of text is on a different layer, with tables you can't control the layer of table its always on the current layer.

For example, if we need to specify “location” of the project, then it is better to have sort of list from which we can select the location of the project the same we do it in the Excel (as shown in the screenshot below).

I have had an issue where my text field shows up as "####" even though the the value is still showing up in the custom properties menu. I've tried updating the field and re-inserting the field and it keeps showing up as "####"

For any case where I use this chart, only one of the two boxes will have a checkmark inside of it.Is there a way that I can add a field-like element/action so all I have to do is toggle between one box or the other?
If toggling is possible, can it also affect turning on or off a nearby relative text element?

We do not use the traditional circle head and when the head needs to rotate or flip the 'pointer' lands on top of the label.
I think I have exhausted all combinations of checked/unchecked boxes for 'Keep readable' and such.
