Illustrator :: 9.0 - Remove Arrowhead From A Line?
May 25, 2012How can I remove an existing arrowhead from a line? If I delete the line/arrowhead, remove any arrowhead designation in "Add Arrowheads" dialog and draw a different line, the arrowhead still appears. Also, is Is there a way to change the line weight, thinner, without changing the size of the existing arrowheads OR change the size of the arrowhead without affecting the line?

Sep 13, 2012This is for CS4. I want to apply two arrowheads of different sizes to one end and the other end of a line. This is not possible with CS4 under "Add Arrowhead" where the size of the arrowhead (Scale) applies to both the Start and End arrowheads.Illustrator allows to apply several instances of an effect to an object. So I apply one instance of "Add Arrowheads" for the Start end with a given arrowhead Scale (size of arrowhead), and another instance of "Add Arrowheads" for the other End with a different Scale. The second "Add Arrowheads" instance of the effect does not behave at all as expected (it adds two "disfigured" arrowheads even though I ask for one arrowhead only).How can I use two working instances of "Add Arrowheads" to reach my goal?

Feb 18, 2013I'm making some graphics to be printed on a car. I have some lines with outer glow on them, but Illustrator won't render these unless I use 72DPI in raster effects reslution. I would like to go higher, but it won't give me anything. Guessing it's to heavy for Illustrator maybe? Is there anything I can do about this? I'm making my graphics in 1:1 scale, but I do it in a lower scale since it's just vector art anyway, however how would that effect my glow? Since it's a raster effect.

I have a Revit 8.1 project that renderes the model just fine. When I import it into Revit 2010 it also remders the model but I have to reassign the custom finishes. But when I upgrade it to 2012 and render - the walls and floors are suddenly missing!

Illustrator :: Line Appears When Applying Drop Shadow On Large Scale?
Nov 7, 2013Some weeks ago I had to make a large scale graphic (800mmx2000mm) for a roll-up banner. I wanted to apply a drop shadow to a rounded shape, and ugly lines came up. Since it was a bit urgent, I decided not to use it.
But now I'm curious, so I quickly made an ellipse and added a shadow, so you know what I mean. This also happens when I save it as pdf or image.
Perhaps someday I will have to use a drop shadow on large scale. So, what could I do in case I need to use this effect in these conditions? I use Illustrator CS6 in Mac with Mavericks.

First click to place a start node then click a middle node and finally third click the end node.Afterwards I should be able to move the middle node and PSP should complete a round arrow line.But I cannot achieve this.
It happens e.g. always that an area is created and filled with red color.I don't want to fill an area - just one line.What exactly do I have to select in the parameter toolbar for "Mode" "Contour" "Connect segments" "Miter Join",.

Mar 11, 2013Illustrator actually makes a file labelled "copy"everytime the particular file is opened. Each time it is opened, it makes another copy & tags a number on the end. It only happens with the occasional file, but once this happens, nothing will stop the problem. Selecting all & pasting into a new file does not work. There are no extra views. The artwork is originally copied from the customer file & pasted into a new document.

Illustrator :: Export PDF - Makes Some Text Inexplicably Bold
Mar 19, 2014creating a PDF out of my Illustrator document - I have a bunch of identical headers which I've literally copy & pasted in place on every page so they are exactly the same. Yet, some pages - when exported to a PDF - are inexplicably bold and ugly! I've exported the entire document at once so it's not cause of different publication settings. I just can't explain why the PDF displays some of the titles differently - when they are exactly identical. how I can fix this display/export error? It looks like I've accidentally used a bold font on some titles, which is not the case.

Mar 30, 2011I usually remember to save things, but this time I didn't. I went straight to print. But before I did, I hit the wrong button and pressed "cancel print". It's now saying, "cancelling print" for 20 minutes. I know its likely frozen but I don't want to lose my work. I have a mac and so I made a JPEG of the image, using GRAB application. Is there any way to save what I have? I know if I "Quit" the application, I'll lose it. How can I get it to finish it's "cancelling?"

May 10, 2013The problem happens in different blocks created in Autocad 2009. I need to make blocks with many visibilities and, sometimes, only a few lines need to be turned invisible from a visibility state. Many times when I remove the visibility of a line from a single visibility state, the line erased on all the visibility states. I make my lines "all visible" and it's not there anymore.
The problem is probably in my block since it's doing the same problem on someone else's computer. If the problem is my block, is there a way to "uncorrupt" it?

I am editing a feature line which is a driveway. I set the feature line to have a constant slope from one end to the other. I had to move the line and when I did the contours went away. I tried to just add grading to the feature line and it when through the steps I always take and acts like its there but I dont see it. The contours are set to 1' and 5' contours w/ design. The feature line that is added when creating a grading from the original feature line (that shows the base of the slope where the contours fit between or in other words it is the feature line that follows the existing/natural ground) is also gone.
Also on another feature line all I did was go into elevation editor and change an elevation and the contours dissapeared.

Illustrator :: Tints In CC Not Applying
Jul 17, 2013If I draw a shape and select the fill color from one of my swatches, this applies the color OK. Then if I want to change the fill color to a tint of the swatch, what I used to do in Illustrator 5.5 was go to the 'Color Guide' tab and choose a tint. This tint was then applied to the shape. If I do the same in Illustrator CC, I can select the tint, but it does not get applied to the shape, the shape remains with its original fill color. I use tints of our company colors a lot, so I need this to work!

Jun 5, 2013I've created a design with four elements:northwest, northeast, southeast, and southwest; each is on a separate level. I created the NW object first, the copied and rotated 180 deg to create the NE object and recolored. I then copied the NW and the NE objects and rotated them 180 deg to create the SE and SW objects. See below.
Now I'd like to add a background below all of them, but when I do, the NW object disappears. See below.
I note that the little meatball next to the disappearing level is filled in, but it's empty for the other three levels. But I don't know what the two different meatball types mean. Each layer has a group layer and 26 sublayers. Some of the sublayers have different screen modes, and there is also a drop layer effect on one. They look identical to me, but with so many layers I might have missed something.
I'm using AI CS6 on a Dell computer.

Nov 26, 2013I was desiging images for my children and I was having difficulty with the colors- I would select a color from the color picker and a different shade/color would be applied to the text. Hoping it was a RAM issue, I just restarted my computer and it resolved itself. Easy enough. I completed the designs and went about my day.
Today, I'm working on a project for someone else and it's doing it again. I've restarted the computer and I've reset settings on Illustrator to the default but neither of these things resolved the problem.
In an attempt to make sure I wasn't going crazy, I took a screen shot of the text I'm attempting to color and the color picker box showing the color I was trying to choose. The selected color was R 6 G 6 B 249. I opened the image in paint and with the eyedropper tool selected the color that was actually applied and that color is R 61 G 93 B 171- so clearly not the same color at all. I then opened it in Photoshop to determine if it was an Adobe problem or just an Illustrator problem. With the eyedropper tool, I got the same results that I did in paint. Illustrator is definitely not applying the colors correctly.
