Illustrator :: Guidelines Disappear After Moving?
Aug 28, 2013I move a guideline, vertical one, so I'm moving it in the horizontal plane... and it disappears when I drop it.
But then, if I click somewhere else on the screen, it reappaers.

View 1 Replies View RelatedNew to CAD, so probably typical newby problem. When I try to draw (in Nanocad, since it's the only one I can afford) I don't see what I'm doing, i.e. the lines and figures keep disappearing when I move the cursor. Trying again I see my drawings very briefly and then they're gone again. Tried all and every button, menu etc. and hardware is okay.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm using lynda.com "Essentials" to learn the product (CS6).
The tutorial shows you how to accurately line up guidelines by using the Info panel. However for me the info panel "locks" as soon as I select a guideline from the ruler and drag it onto the artboard. It only starts updating when I move my mouse off the guideline - which makes it useless.
Am I doing something wrong, or is this a bug introduced since Adobe CS6 was first released? (I noticed there was an update this morning - 15th May 2012 - which I've applied)
I have been using CS6 for about a month now, and all of sudden I started having an issue with alignment (and sometimes with distribute evenly command). Basically, anytime I try to use align center or edge (horizontally or vertically) with any object(s) and guideline, objects as well as guideline that I selected disappear from the artboard (white space) -- so I zoom out to get the entire workspace (gray area) view, I find objects ending up somewhere way beyond the white space and the guideline at the very top of the workspace if I used align center horizontally, or the guideline being at the very left of the workspace if I used align center vertically. I made sure that align to: selection is selected, but it appears that it yields same results whether I choose align to artboad, or align to key objects. I use CS6 on my computer at home, but I haven't had any issue with this yet.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've created a design with four elements:northwest, northeast, southeast, and southwest; each is on a separate level. I created the NW object first, the copied and rotated 180 deg to create the NE object and recolored. I then copied the NW and the NE objects and rotated them 180 deg to create the SE and SW objects. See below.
Now I'd like to add a background below all of them, but when I do, the NW object disappears. See below.
I note that the little meatball next to the disappearing level is filled in, but it's empty for the other three levels. But I don't know what the two different meatball types mean. Each layer has a group layer and 26 sublayers. Some of the sublayers have different screen modes, and there is also a drop layer effect on one. They look identical to me, but with so many layers I might have missed something.
I'm using AI CS6 on a Dell computer.
Why do my swatches disappear in cs6 and how do I get them back?

I have a MAC and use CS4.Sometimes when I use illustrator my color swatches are there and easy to access, change colors or values.Other times I have no color swatches in my color window, and no slider bars in the color slider window (No values can be adjusted/ no bars to adjust)
Only if I use the drop bar on the color box(top right) and change to CYMK or RGB, can I change the color.
I am trying to make a gear have that nice mettalic shine using the clipping mask, but everytime I make the command the whole thing just dissapears. I am using the pen tool to make 4 triangles with different shades of grey. I then group the triangles, put a radial blur on them and place them under the gear that I created. I select them all and do the clipping mask command, but instead of it being a gear with that radial shine, the whole thing disappears except for the outline of the triangle.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI want to select part of an image with just one layer. Say I just flattened the image and have to move one part of. I select it with the rectangular select tool. It seems intuitive that I could then just move what I selected, but when I drag the selection, the selection itself moves without moving what is inside the selection.
If I then remember to click the move tool and try to move what's in the selection (seems to work sometimes, maybe when there's multiple layers?) the entire image moves.
The only way I can move part of the image over is if I make a selection and then cut it (ctrl X) then paste it.
How am I supposed to move part of the flattened image, is there a way I can set it to default to "When I select something, I can immediately drag that selected area around."
I created a template and placed it in the Graphic Styles folder. When I use the New command and select the new template from Graphic Styles, the Guide layer disappears. When I double click the template to open it the guides are there. Why is the guide layer getting stripped out when I use the New command? I want to avoid opening from template everytime.
The weird thing is that I had a template that was opening with guides until I made some changes to it. Now it doesn't work either.
The Live Corners feature is welcome in Illustrator 17.1, but I find that it works inconsistently. One issue that I've isolated is that scaling a path makes the live corners disappear.
To reproduce:
Create a rounded rectangle
Select the path
Click the direct selection tool to verify that Live Corners are present
Click the selection tool
Scale the rounded rectangle (say drag up from the scale point in the middle of the bottom side)
Click the direct selection tool - where are the live corners?
Is that a bug? Is that a design choice?

View 11 Replies View RelatedI have a pretty simple design. Some text and shapes all expanded and turned into outlines. I have one shape that was created by using a clipping mask. I am putting a vector distress pattern over the whole design (like I usually do and it works fine) well I merge them together and everything is completely fine except the shape created with the clipping mask it disappears..
more info: i actually released the clipping mask and I am still having the same problem with this object, it disappears when merged with the vector distress pattern.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a plug-in developed with the ObjectARX SDK, C#, VS2010 and the Autodesk supplied template. The plug-in is loaded into AutoCAD at start-up via a registry entry.
The plug-in is to be distributed privately and will not be submitted to the 'Marketplace' supplied by Autodesk for AutoCAD products.
I've noticed that there is a section on the AutoDesk website with regards to registering a custom prefix via the RDS scheme [URL]......
Currently we have code within the following areas:
Class Namespaces e.g. "MyNamespace.Utility"FunctionsCustom Commands e.g. "DEBUGDATA"
Based on the current implementation and intended usage/distribution method is symbol registration required? I ask as I am not sure what would happen if another plug-in used by the user has a "DEBUGDATA" command.
If symbol registration is required could you provide a clear example of how developer symbols should be implemented within the code?

Rather, I find myself seing the same guidelines on all pages.
Also, if I have few objects placed on one page how to make so that I will not see them on the other pages?
I have set up a number of guidelines on an image that I wish to cut into little squares. Instead of having to cut using the rectangular marquee tool, is there a way in which you can cut it using your guidelines, and maybe have the individual squares placed on individual layers?

I want to be able to create guidelines in CorelDraw X4 that show up on every page in my CorelDraw document, but without having to open the Object Manager and highlight the Master Page before I create them.
At the moment when I open a new document and create guidelines they only show up on the first page and although it isn't difficult, it's annoying to have to move them manually on to the Master Page, how I can change the CorelDraw settings permanently so that whenever I open a new document and create guidelines they are created on the Master Page?
Is there a way to see the guidelines when working in a PowerClip that has a background image?
If not, is this a bug, an oversight of the Corel developers, or is it a new feature?
