Photoshop :: Cutting Images Using From Guidelines
Oct 10, 2006
I have set up a number of guidelines on an image that I wish to cut into little squares. Instead of having to cut using the rectangular marquee tool, is there a way in which you can cut it using your guidelines, and maybe have the individual squares placed on individual layers?

I'm creating a games website and therefore need a lot of images. However, I was just wandering was there a good way of cutting? Should I just use the lasso tools?

Im new to both coreldraw, and to the graphtec cutter, so my problem may have a very simple answer. Ive been playing around with it, learning how things work. Smaller images are no problem, but Im having trouble cutting larger images.
the plotter can cut up to a width of 610mm, and Im using 610mm vinyl. I need to cut some items that are 600mm wide. First time I tried, it left a gap on the left side of approx 50mm. It also stopped cutting approximately 20mm from the right side. next time, I loaded the vinyl into the machine 45mm further right and tried again. this time the left hand edge was positioned where I expected, but the right side still stopped in the same place as previously, leaving a gap of around 70mm on the right hand side. you would think I was trying to cut something bigger than the capacity of the cutter, but obviously this isnt the case.
if I have missed any necessary information etc, Im very new to all of this.

Using Corel to prepare images for cutting on a CNC plasma table. any easiest way to prepare images for cutting. With merging images, Lettering and original art work transfer. I need to convert to a DXF format to drop into the machine program (Sheetcam). I have used trace with some success. By this, I mean that the image "looked" good, but I seem to be doing something wrong because the graphic will not run on the machine.

I have downloaded an eps file, which I need to cut. I use a graphtec ce5000-60 cutter, and a plugin called cutting master 2 in order to use coreldraw.
when i select application launcher and choose cut / plot, it opens cutting master. when i do this, it only shows the 2 outer lines of the logo i need to cut. I have attached a screenshot so you can see exactly what I mean. I have tried lots of things to recitfy this, but as a complete beginner with this software, I really dont have a clue.

Is there a way to cut a solid into two pieces using a non-planar cutting plane? I have been tasked with calculating the volume of concrete damage in a chute block. I have a sketch of the damage on the chute block. I created the chute block as a solid and then drew the damaged area extents using plines. This created non-planar plines. Is there a way to get this to work that will allow me to see the volume of the concrete damage? I need an easy way to do this, there are 50 chute blocks all the same size but with varying degrees of damage

In Photoshop you can "drag" horizontal/vertical guide lines out into the image.
Can you do this in Photoshop Elements Editor 6 for a Mac 10.5.8?
I do what the help button and menu tells me but I can't get it...

I've got a very annoying problem. When drawing rectangles with grid / guidelines showing using 960 Grid System (although it happens with other documents as well), the edges of the rectangle are not sharp, e.g. http://img16.imageshack.us/img16/6232/blurred.png - note top and right side is blurred. There are no styles applied.
When I switch off grids / guidelines, the rectangles are always sharp.
Also, resizing rectangles causes loss of sharpness to edges.
Using CS4.

I have a plug-in developed with the ObjectARX SDK, C#, VS2010 and the Autodesk supplied template. The plug-in is loaded into AutoCAD at start-up via a registry entry.
The plug-in is to be distributed privately and will not be submitted to the 'Marketplace' supplied by Autodesk for AutoCAD products.
I've noticed that there is a section on the AutoDesk website with regards to registering a custom prefix via the RDS scheme [URL]......
Currently we have code within the following areas:
Class Namespaces e.g. "MyNamespace.Utility"FunctionsCustom Commands e.g. "DEBUGDATA"
Based on the current implementation and intended usage/distribution method is symbol registration required? I ask as I am not sure what would happen if another plug-in used by the user has a "DEBUGDATA" command.
If symbol registration is required could you provide a clear example of how developer symbols should be implemented within the code?

When I have more than 1 page I wish to learn how to make so that each page has its own guidelines.
Rather, I find myself seing the same guidelines on all pages.
Also, if I have few objects placed on one page how to make so that I will not see them on the other pages?

Example: 2 page document in X5:
How do I get 'Snap to Guidelines' to work when I highlight 'Guides' on Page 2 in object docker
I drag a new guideline on page. However, nothing will snap to it ?
Snap to guidelines is on. In other words, custom guidlines on each page that 'snap to guidelines' work on each page.

I'm using lynda.com "Essentials" to learn the product (CS6).
The tutorial shows you how to accurately line up guidelines by using the Info panel. However for me the info panel "locks" as soon as I select a guideline from the ruler and drag it onto the artboard. It only starts updating when I move my mouse off the guideline - which makes it useless.
Am I doing something wrong, or is this a bug introduced since Adobe CS6 was first released? (I noticed there was an update this morning - 15th May 2012 - which I've applied)

I want to be able to create guidelines in CorelDraw X4 that show up on every page in my CorelDraw document, but without having to open the Object Manager and highlight the Master Page before I create them.
At the moment when I open a new document and create guidelines they only show up on the first page and although it isn't difficult, it's annoying to have to move them manually on to the Master Page, how I can change the CorelDraw settings permanently so that whenever I open a new document and create guidelines they are created on the Master Page?

Is there a way to see the guidelines when working in a PowerClip that has a background image?
If not, is this a bug, an oversight of the Corel developers, or is it a new feature?

I have been using CS6 for about a month now, and all of sudden I started having an issue with alignment (and sometimes with distribute evenly command). Basically, anytime I try to use align center or edge (horizontally or vertically) with any object(s) and guideline, objects as well as guideline that I selected disappear from the artboard (white space) -- so I zoom out to get the entire workspace (gray area) view, I find objects ending up somewhere way beyond the white space and the guideline at the very top of the workspace if I used align center horizontally, or the guideline being at the very left of the workspace if I used align center vertically. I made sure that align to: selection is selected, but it appears that it yields same results whether I choose align to artboad, or align to key objects. I use CS6 on my computer at home, but I haven't had any issue with this yet.

The Icon Design Guidelines are really well explained, but trying to stay in line, I was wondering where the content might be hiding? If I want to use an approved Badge, e.g. "constraint", all the info I can find on this asset is a path on Brians local machine ( C:Documents and SettingsekinsbDesktopIcon GuidelinesInventor icon design guideline 3.png ) and even possessing the adequate skills.
Opening the pdf in photoshop, only the first page comes with embedded alphamapped images? Where else to look or what else to do??

What I mean:
Draw an ellipse. Skew it with mouse.
Draw a rectangle to allign with ellipse's outer dimension by Alignment Guides (not by Align and Distribute command).
Now the aligned side of the Rectangle must be tangent to the ellipse BUT it's not! To verify, try to search an intersection point. Draw a Guideline and snap it to the rectangle's aligned side. It must be intersection point between Guideline and Ellipse but there isn't...

I made a design last night that included me cutting out a model from one of my photoshoots, so I did that... and then after all was said and done, I'm thinking she looks a little choppy and "dropped" into the photo. is there some way to make her look a little more smooth?
I got most of the edges cleaned up and used a feather, and even burned around the edges a tad to make it blend but it still looks very cut out.
