i downloaded this badge .eps file off this website. opened it in Illustrator, upgrouped the text so it would be editable but it wasn't. i then tried to expand the pbject but it wont let me. i have downlaoded pretty much the same thing off this same website & it worked fine but this one i giving me trouble. what makes an object able to expand or not?

View 3 Replies View Relatedwhen I select several objects and try to deselect some of them in the object manager the list scrolls down after each click. This happens only in long lists when I deselect objects that are rather in top of the list. It then scrolls until the end of the list and I have to scroll up again for deselecting any further object. Can this be fixed?
Furthermore I would like to know if there is any way to select/deselect by a filter? For example: Deselect all objects that are of the type text or all curves that have a border.
Illustrator actually makes a file labelled "copy"everytime the particular file is opened. Each time it is opened, it makes another copy & tags a number on the end. It only happens with the occasional file, but once this happens, nothing will stop the problem. Selecting all & pasting into a new file does not work. There are no extra views. The artwork is originally copied from the customer file & pasted into a new document.

View 3 Replies View Relatedcreating a PDF out of my Illustrator document - I have a bunch of identical headers which I've literally copy & pasted in place on every page so they are exactly the same. Yet, some pages - when exported to a PDF - are inexplicably bold and ugly! I've exported the entire document at once so it's not cause of different publication settings. I just can't explain why the PDF displays some of the titles differently - when they are exactly identical. how I can fix this display/export error? It looks like I've accidentally used a bold font on some titles, which is not the case.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI usually remember to save things, but this time I didn't. I went straight to print. But before I did, I hit the wrong button and pressed "cancel print". It's now saying, "cancelling print" for 20 minutes. I know its likely frozen but I don't want to lose my work. I have a mac and so I made a JPEG of the image, using GRAB application. Is there any way to save what I have? I know if I "Quit" the application, I'll lose it. How can I get it to finish it's "cancelling?"

Â In 2013, I changed to interface to classic, so that it looks more like it used to, but the add-on does not appear to be available anymore. Â Is there a built-in way now to do this?

I am unable to import files from an NFS-mounted directory because the folders lack rocker nodes, so I can't navigate through the tree to my existing Photos directory. It isn't practical or desirable to import the entire NFS filesystem.

I originally had the filesystem mounted with these options:
freenas:/mnt/vol_home/nfs_home on /Volumes/home (nfs, nodev, nosuid, automounted, nobrowse)

And while I can see the root of the filesystem in the left side of the import window, and while the directories have little folder icons next to them, the little triangular rockers next to them are greyed out. If I picked a directory, and checked "include subfolders", then Lightroom would recurse through the tree and show me all of the pictures. But I don't want to import my entire filesystem. I need to navigate down the tree to my photo directory, but the rockers are "greyed out". It's difficult to see them greyed out when the background is grey too, but they are there, faint as they are.

So, I thought maybe the "nobrowse" option had something to do with the inability to navigate. I used "NFS Utility" to remove the "nobrowse"option, and remounted the filesystem. It is now mounted with these options:

only the "rbrown" folder has a working rocker. The other rockers are greyed out (which is really difficult to see). I need to navigate below "rbrown", but cannot.  Finder can open the "family" rocker, and can open the subfolders under "rbrown" just fine.

Why does lightroom refuse to let me open these folders?
I dragged a surface style from another drawing into the drawing I am having issues with. The Issue is that after inserting the style the Prospector and Settings are not expandable. The Prospector check box is grayed out and there are dots in front of the Settings tab.  Â
Basically I can't expand either the Prospector or the Setting to edit surfaces, alignments, styles, etc.
how to make a web signature that looks like a simple ID badge. I am trying to create a standard signature for use on the forums that support a faction within an online role playing game i am a member of. The basic image I have in my head is this. A white or maybe grayscale/silverish back ground layer, with the standard techy inlays. a spot in the top left corner for each individual members avatar. Then pushed off to the center-right side, their information, I.E Rank, name, email, member identification number. With a barcode font on the bottom. Finally with the faction logo well cropped and placed to be an underlying layer below the whole thing set at a very low opacity.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have come across an odd issue! I have an object built and saved as an illustrator file, which has some knockout type (transparency). When I placed this object in another illustrator file, all is well, and I save this new file. When I reopen the new file, I noticed that illustrator has moved the placed object very slightly. I have looked at other placed files and objects in this new file and illustrator doesn't seem to affect those. Every time I resave the file, illustrator adds the same shift to the objects current position. If I just open the file without saving, the position stays as is. The shift is added by illustrator when I save the file!

what may be causing this issue and how to prevent it? (I suspect it might have to do with the knockouts but I can't figure it out).

PS: Another strange thing is that when I tried to save the object-with-knockout as an EPS file from illustrator, the EPS file discarded the transparency.
I have an AI (bundled in CS6) document that has a large number of objects in it - approx 200. Single artboard, single layer.
These objects (right word?) are a combination of placed .png files, polygon/primitives (mostly circles) and text labels. I would like to quickly create and export a .txt or a .csv file that has the following coordinate and size information about each object in the AI document:

Is there a menu feature? If not, is there a suggestion for a script? Would like to save a day's work going object by object and manually transcribing this information into a text file.Â
I am looking to have a custom badge made for my car, an Acura RSX. It seems like it should be simple, but I am no good at design stuff. All I want to do is replace the "RSX" badge with one that says "DC5", but in the same exact lettering style as the RSX one, so I need a plain text design to take to a metal worker and put through a CAD machine or something. Attached is a couple images of the RSX text.

I have downloaded a good template for a 1" button badge, complete with layers & guide lines. I have managed to figure out how to make my own designs and I’m slowly getting to grips with how layers work, so as you can tell, I’m a real novice!
What I would like to be able to do in import or insert a scanned image or photo onto the template so I can make badges with photos or images from the web (e.g. football team emblems etc.). Is it possible to do this? Also can you import/insert images & then re-size them to fit the template so the image will be the right size for the badge?
we need to be able to collect (save to a list) a series of x,y coordinates as each object in an AI file is selected. Can this be done by creating a script of some kind that runs concurrently with Illustrator? Is this something that can be done via Action Scripts?

I am using Lightroom 4.1 on a vista computer. I am in the process of building a number of sub-collections within a main collection. About 400 pictures selected so far. I have set the view>options to view thumbnail badges in grid view. However, only one photo, which I have not done anything to, shows the badge for collections. I would expect that every photo I assigned to a collection would show the collections badge. When I deselect the thumbnail badge box, the badge disappears from the one photo that has it. When I turn it back on, only the one photo shows the badge.

How can I have all the photos assigned to a collection show the badge?
The Thumbnail Badge for Collections is not showing on most of my images which are in Collections. Even when i put a new image in a Collection. The Thumbnail Badges in the Library View Options is checked off. When I right click on an image which I know is in a Collection(s) and choose "Go to Collection" it will show mw the Collection(s) that image is in but the Thumbnail does not show. The other Badges do show. LR3 which I still have on my PC works fine.Â

How would I do this?, should I take it's picture with my cell phone-forward it to my e-mail address then import it into corel or have it scanned and forwarded to me. Opening the pdf in photoshop, only the first page comes with embedded alphamapped images? Where else to look or what else to do??
I'm making some graphics to be printed on a car. I have some lines with outer glow on them, but Illustrator won't render these unless I use 72DPI in raster effects reslution. I would like to go higher, but it won't give me anything. Guessing it's to heavy for Illustrator maybe? Is there anything I can do about this? I'm making my graphics in 1:1 scale, but I do it in a lower scale since it's just vector art anyway, however how would that effect my glow? Since it's a raster effect.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have simple a 3D bottle shape created from about 16 points and I am trying to map a gif image on to it usning CS5. No matter what I have done (work from a new document, etc.) I always get the error message. I also receive this error when I attempt to map a jpg image on to the same shape. I have attempted this on three different Windows 7 machines running CS5 with the same result. When I try it with CS6 the program closes with a catastrophic error and no message. I do not receive this error using the default symbols. The gif and jpg images are imported and imbedded into the document and then moved to the symbols library.Â
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am having some trouble with a file in Illustrator CS6. Within a layer, when I add a fill to an object, the fill doesn't block out the object paths beneath. For instance, say I have a square object overlapping a circle object in Layer 1. The square object is above the circle in the layer. When I add a fill to the square, the circle stroke still shows through the square even though the overlapped part should be blocked out by the fill. The square is set to normal visibility, and I have made sure that there are no duplicate paths that would account for what I am seeing. (I.e., it's not a case where there's a second identical circle path that is on top of the square, so that it remains visible in spite of the fill.)

Other details:
- I'm mainly working with a white fill, but the problem is the same with fills of any color
- When there's a fill color in the circle path as well, the circle's fill color *is* blocked out—just not its stroke.
- I have restarted Illustrator and restarted my computer and these have not changed anything.
- There are other layers within the same document where the normal layering rules work.
- I tried copy/pasting some of the problem objects into a new document, and in the new document, the fill works properly.
- If I move the problem objects to another layer, then the fill works as it should. But as I'm dealing with a number of paths, it doesn't make sense to create a layer for each to solve the problem.

I can't tell if it's a matter of working in too large or complex a file.
I'm working with 27 artboard in illustrator for one project. I would like to select the object I need to get to in my layers panel and have illustrator "jump/navigate" me to the object where it resides on the artboard. Is this possible?
