Illustrator :: Mapping Symbol On 3D Object Causes Error While Processing Appearance Of Object

I have simple a 3D bottle shape created from about 16 points and I am trying to map a gif image on to it usning CS5. No matter what I have done (work from a new document, etc.) I always get the error message. I also receive this error when I attempt to map a jpg image on to the same shape. I have attempted this on three different Windows 7 machines running CS5 with the same result. When I try it with CS6 the program closes with a catastrophic error and no message. I do not receive this error using the default symbols. The gif and jpg images are imported and imbedded into the document and then moved to the symbols library.

I am constantly getting the error message: "an error occurred while processing the appearance of an object". I get this error even on very simple artwork, one layer / one filter. Having this problem with the "latest and greatest" version of CC products?

I'm using CS5. When I click on an object within a group containing only that object, appearance tap shows the group's appearance. I can't select the object when the group only has one object. So if I want to modify the object, I have to ungroup or add additional object into the group.

I have created a 3d object to look like a coffee mate carton. I tried to post images on here but I keep getting an error.The art work that I want to put on my object consists of a number of elements which have been saved as a symbol. (image) However whenever I try to map it to my object nothing happens. I have used some of the system symbols and these work fine. I have also made a simple label of text only and this works fine. Is there a problem using more complex symbols in this way?

I can get pre-loaded symbols to map to the art-work, but the symbol I created doesn't appear when I try to map it. I'm not sure if the problem is how I created the original artwork/symbol?

When I apply the effect "drop shadow" on an object and export to pdf it works fine. When I then convert the object into a symbol and export to pdf, the effect is gone.
Suggestiones other than "don't use symbols" ???

I need to change the color of the M and [R] in this text, allow me to set the stage.
To create this symbol you type the Letter M, change the font to our companys symbol text and the following characters then follow. However when editing the text it is recognized as a single character. I have changed the text to outlines, however it still changes every letter when I change the color. I have went into isolation mode and it still changes every color.

Basically I am trying to map a world map vector (symbol) onto a 3d revolve half circle in Illustrator. The problem I am having is that the quality of the map vector is significantly reduced when mapped on the 3d revolve. Is there any way I can have it keep it's "full" vector quality or is there something else I am missing.

If you open a 3d object is it possible to unwrap it to get the uv map? There is no uv map in the layers of an object I am working with. I am using cs5 extended.

I have got some problem with the UV map. I tried 2 method: use Flatten mapping on the whole object, and the other: separete the UV parts manual with Projection, and this work correct, but when i go far with the camera the UV shape will be visible. I want to use my model for a game and it will be more visible.

I've got a car that's been imported from Alias. Its been tessellated via showcase. I'm trying to UV map it as I need to apply some camouflage and it's not going so well. I get an extremely complex UV layout in the UV editor based on the original NURBS patch layout from Alias, needless to say its not very useable.

In the max scene you can see a spearfishing shaft, basically a very long in lenght cylinder.I properly map it as the checker texture that I apply shows, the problem is the lenght of the cylinder. As you can see in the photo, a screen shoot of max Unwrap UVW Modifier,(the uv islands are properly scaled with a correct proportion between them) if I scale them down to fit the UV space, in blue in the photo, blue arrow, because the lenght of the cylinder, I end up with very small islands. I did not scale them down jet to fit the UV space to show you my point.
I must scale them down to fit the UV space despite ending up with very small islands, losing a lot of definition, and most of the uv space hempty? how to correctly pack those UV island in the UV space? The problem is the lenght of the shaft that of curse I dont want cut down with seems.

I am having some trouble with a file in Illustrator CS6. Within a layer, when I add a fill to an object, the fill doesn't block out the object paths beneath. For instance, say I have a square object overlapping a circle object in Layer 1. The square object is above the circle in the layer. When I add a fill to the square, the circle stroke still shows through the square even though the overlapped part should be blocked out by the fill. The square is set to normal visibility, and I have made sure that there are no duplicate paths that would account for what I am seeing. (I.e., it's not a case where there's a second identical circle path that is on top of the square, so that it remains visible in spite of the fill.)
Other details:
- I'm mainly working with a white fill, but the problem is the same with fills of any color
- When there's a fill color in the circle path as well, the circle's fill color *is* blocked out—just not its stroke.
- I have restarted Illustrator and restarted my computer and these have not changed anything.
- There are other layers within the same document where the normal layering rules work.
- I tried copy/pasting some of the problem objects into a new document, and in the new document, the fill works properly.
- If I move the problem objects to another layer, then the fill works as it should. But as I'm dealing with a number of paths, it doesn't make sense to create a layer for each to solve the problem.
I can't tell if it's a matter of working in too large or complex a file.

I have the words Kuhns Creations here, it is going to be the logo for my website. In the end the letters will all be the light blue color that "Kuhns" is right now, I'm just using the different colors to explain my problem. I want the pink part of the "C" to be in front of the "K", but I want the black part of the "C" to be behind the "K", giving the illusion that the "C" is passing through the "K" (this will only be visible cause of the drop shadows on both letters, since they wil both be the same color) Is there a way to do this?
I got this effect in Photoshop, but I need to do it with vectors because the size of the image that has to be uploaded to my website is so small that you lose all detail if its a bitmap (52 pixels x 103 pixels) In addition to the effect explained above I am trying to get a bevel effect. In Photoshop it works and is easy to do but in illustrator the settings are all different and anything I enter looks totally different.
The settings that I'm using in Photoshop are: Style: inner bevel, technique: smooth,depth: 1%, direction: up, size 10 px, soften 0 px, angle:,120 degrees, altitude: 30 degrees, highlight mode: screen, Opacity: 75%, shadow mode: multiply, Opacity:75%. How do I get this same effect in illustrator?

I'm trying to make a video where while the video is playing a series of dollar signs are added as if someone is typing. i'm able to do this with just adding a new title with one more dollar sign each title. What I'd like to do then is show the dollar signs being deleted and then a series of red hearts are typed in its place. I can't seem to figure out how to get hearts or any picture/object in a title.

I have created this watercolor blob shape with a tutorial and I was wondering if it would be possible to use that watercolor blob to fill a shape (let's say a circle). How can I go about doing that? I've attempted using the make pattern function in order to create a fill pattern that way, but it's just not working out for me.

What governs the location/distance from the object of the "object move symbol" when an item is selected? See attached image. I have selected the blue view reference text but the four way arrow/move symbol is way below it. This isn't using the move command. The arrows can be hard to find in a crowded sheet if it's very far from the item selected.
For reference I have added an image showing the location of the object move symbol for a text item. It's in the upper left corner of the text outline.

I made the background of an object (single color symbol) transparent, then re-sized it. I then added a transparent layer to another image, with the idea of placing the symbol onto that layer. I tried to move the symbol, but that didn't work. I copied the symbol image and tried to paste it onto the layer. It pasted, but all I got was a transparent rectangle that matched the size of the symbol image.

I'm working on this study and I need to change the color of an object inside a symbol when I click another object.
The object is called "bola", wich is inside the symbol "ponto" and the clicking object are the colored pencils (each pencil should change the color of the symbol's object, giving the impression you'd selecting a different pencil to draw).
I think it's simple to understand what I mean when you see the files.
I already tried this line on click event of the pencils, but it didn't work:
sym.getSymbol("ponto").$("bola").css("color","#123456");
I would like to improve the experience of drawing as well. I made it with the "mousedown" event. Is that a better way to get a similar effect?

If I drag an effect from the target circle of one object to anther in the layer's panel it replaces the effect along with all appearance. But I want just to add the effect. For example, a layer has a drop shadow and a path, round corners. I want to move the drop shadow from the layer to the path so that the path now has the round corners and the drop shadow. To do this I have to open the shadow effect of the layer wright down its parameters, then create a shadow effect for the path with the same parameters which is a lot of work.

I seem to be having many, many problems in Maya 2012.Simple things like opening the plugin manager window, changing the camera, opening hypershade, and assigning materials seem torefuse to work, and give me errors such as
// Error: initializePlugin function failed (stereoCamera)
and

Error: Object's name 'PluginRowColLyt1' is not unique
This is a clean install of Maya 2012 on Windows 7 64-bit, with no previous versions having ever been installed on here.
I've tried reinstalling it multiple times, and the issues still persist. I've also tried reinstalling Python multiple times.

Resizing objects is a mess in CorelDRAW X6 when objects are outlined with Scale With Object enabled to retain proportions after resizing.
None of the tools dealing with outlines (e.g. Contour or even Outline itself) continue to work properly after resizing the object.
I strongly suggest to recalculate outline property values after resizing if Scale With Object is checked. Don't just do it hidden somewhere internally in the object model by applying a temporary scaling factor. Instead actually recalculate the actual property values if Scale With Object is checked.
