Illustrator :: Mapping Symbol As Art On 3D Revolve

Basically I am trying to map a world map vector (symbol) onto a 3d revolve half circle in Illustrator. The problem I am having is that the quality of the map vector is significantly reduced when mapped on the 3d revolve. Is there any way I can have it keep it's "full" vector quality or is there something else I am missing.

So why the loss in quality and how can I prevent this?

I have created a 3d object to look like a coffee mate carton. I tried to post images on here but I keep getting an error.The art work that I want to put on my object consists of a number of elements which have been saved as a symbol. (image) However whenever I try to map it to my object nothing happens. I have used some of the system symbols and these work fine. I have also made a simple label of text only and this works fine. Is there a problem using more complex symbols in this way?

Illustrator :: Mapping Symbol On 3D Object Causes Error While Processing Appearance Of Object

I have simple a 3D bottle shape created from about 16 points and I am trying to map a gif image on to it usning CS5. No matter what I have done (work from a new document, etc.) I always get the error message. I also receive this error when I attempt to map a jpg image on to the same shape. I have attempted this on three different Windows 7 machines running CS5 with the same result. When I try it with CS6 the program closes with a catastrophic error and no message. I do not receive this error using the default symbols. The gif and jpg images are imported and imbedded into the document and then moved to the symbols library.

Illustrator :: Using Gradients On 3D Revolve Shapes

I am new to Illustrator and am trying to create a 3D dish that looks silver on one side and gold on the other. Is there a way I can do this? If I want to add further shapes to the top of this dish is it better to add these before applying the 3D effect? If so is it possible to apply the gradients to only part of the shape?

Alternatively would it be possible to use the gradient mesh in concave shape. The default mesh is convex. Is there an easy way to change this to concave?

I am working in 5.5 and have a 3D revolved globe object with a map art applied. It is currently in A2 art board size and I need to increase to A0. When I scale the object I get "The combination of artwork size and resolution exceeds the maximum that can be rasterized." I have tried adjusting the rasterize setting and the map art.

Got a problem trying to wrap a vector illustration of a map around a sphere to create a globe for a logo (as per this tutorial: [URL] ....) except I don't want to make it look 3d with the shading options.

Basically when I do this, the map loses all it's detail almost as if Illustrator simplifies the map. I can't seem to work out at all how to make this while retaining the detail and export it as an eps.

I have a group of 3D objects using the revolve command (object on the left). Now I want to put the object on it's side. i.e. rotate it by 90 degrees exactly as it is but the 3D revolve is distorting it to look like the object on the right. How do I prevent this?

I am trying to apply 3D Revolve effect using PlayActionEvent. Since effects are not recordable, I added it using "Insert Menu Item..." and saved .aia file, which contained 3 params (itnm, lcnm and cmid). These params were enough to invoke 3D Revolve Options Dialog using SDK, but nothing more. Two questions:

Is it possible to suppress Options dialog? I used kDialogOff, but without effect. I suppose that dialog showed because I haven't specified any additional parameter (like x, y, z rotation, angle, surface, etc), which leads to second questionHow to find out list of params that are necessary for particular effect?

Generally, is it possible at all to apply Effects using PlayActionEvent?

Here is cylinder made of rectangle using 3d Revolve effect.I want to change perspective of this cylinder like the red lines show, but it goes a bit to the left. I need exactly to the front. I think this is because perspective based on the center of rectangle (in the green circle) not on the center of cylinder. Is it possible to move the center of rectangle? If not, is any other decisions how to make what I want?

I can create the object with ease, but when I click on "3D Revolve" and then hit "preview" it says "Rendering Artwork" and instantly freezes at halfway. how I want to get this done asap. I have tried the Alt+Ctrl+Shift trick that I have heard of, but that doesn't work either.

Illustrator :: 3D Mapping Incomplete

I found a solution to my objects being rendered incomplete by adjusting the perspective angle by a degree or two but this didn't solve my problem of the graphic map being incomplete.

Basically I'm making labels for different sized bottles (i.e. wine, beer and sake)the wine worked so far but for some reason this sake bottle's label wouldn't complete rendering.I dunno if it is because the side of the bottle is slightly angled or what but I cannot get it to complete the image map.

System: Mac Pro, OS X 7.4, Illustrator CS6

I'm away and on a colleagues Mac ( OSX 10.6.8 ) Running Photoshop CS5 and Illustrator CS6.Doing a little artworking for them. When I fired up Illustrator... the font mapping on the keyboard is screwy. Type an A, get a K etc...The settings on both the Mac and Illustrator are set up for British UK. Photoshop is fine, as is the Mac.Only Illustrator is acting up.

The typical scenario woulld be as follows: the user lifts the pen from the tray, the pen event will me mapped into selecting Pencil Tool from AI toolbar after which the user can add freehand annotations to the AI document.

Is there an API which would allow me to map abailable hardware tools with relevant AI tools? Is there an example which would demonstrate such integration?

Any way to export an entire symbols Library as PNG's?

Sometimes use Illustrator (CS5 on Mac OS X 10.6.7) with it's new pixel grid view for designing websites and it would be really useful to be able to create PNG icons from various graphical symbols I create. The only way I can find at the moment is to place symbols one at a time on a blank art board and export them in the standard way. I can create at action for this but will still have to select each symbol to place.

The attached picture is me trying to balloon a part. I would like to just add some notes to the balloon so that I can update them manually but all I can find is to have a symbol. So I created a symbol, the insertion point for the symbol is shown. For some reason I get an extra number and the symbol offcenter. Why is this happening? What I'm really looking for is a balloon that is fully customizable so that I can just add text to the top and bottom and fill out the details.

Is there a way to "eval" or dynamically set a symbol name that has been parsed from XML to build a symbol path? For example, I'm trying to dynamically set a variable to the path of a sysmbol already on the stage, but it's not working correctly:

Basically I have a lot of points on a map and I'd like to be able to name the points along with other data like tooltip callouts, etc populated via XML then loop through the XML to build the points of interest on the map. If I can get the above working I can place that variable path reference into an array and grab the data from it later. But the path is not working the way I have it.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Revolve Between Surfaces

I am attempting to revolve a sketch between two surfaces in Autodesk Inventor Professional 2012. The problem is that the extrusion is being created on the opposite side of the two surfaces that I want.

For example, I have two flanges on a cylinder. I would like the feature to be created to stretch on the lower side, the larger angle, where the sketch is. Instead, it is creating the feature on the upper side, the smaller angle.

I have adjusted everything I can within the revolve feature options, including unchecking "minimum solution" and switching the starting and terminating faces.

In the attached file I am attempting to revolve "Sketch 7" about the x-axis, between the two flanges closest to the "top." The sketch is centered on where I want the revolved feature to be created.

URL....I know that i can sym.getComposition().getStage().getSymbol("div_animation_1").play(); from within "div_play" but how do i access a point on the timeline and play from there...
