why is it when i cut and delete a line from an object, after the line is deleted, there is another line appear automatically , and i can not select the line itself. how do i keep the object from closing??

I now have a need to mirror about a line but the line is partially inside the object (so after mirroring the object would be overlapped). When I select both objects and try to create the mirror, the "axis" of the reflection is simply the edge of the object, not the line.
When the line was outside, that worked simply because when you selected both objects the line brought the outside of both selected objects to that point so it simply mirrored / reflected at that point (the line). So the line was not truly acting as a point of reflection. Hope that made sense.
I think I'm about to buy Cadtools from Macromonster but I would like to know if Draw has a way of acheiving this. Hey I may find out Cadtools can't reflect when the line is inside the object.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI created a square in which I have to draw vertical lines in it. I want the first line to start at 2.5 cm from the left segment of the square.
In a different way to say it just to be clear enough, I want to align the segment (inside the square) from the left vertical line of the square, put 2.5 cm to the right, and then there's my line.
When I try to align it using the align tool, I use the square as a key object. But it select ALL the square, so it puts my line 2.5 cm but to the far right of the square, outside my artwork. I'd want to select only the left line of the square.
I have a graphic that I put together in photoshop that I'm trying to bring into illustrator and it has feathered edges. When I bring the .PSD file into AI as a smart object.. the feathered part of the graphic is grey.. but I want it to be transparent.

Trim the master object and the cloned object gets deleted.The master object cannot be directly trimmed, so I grouped it with another object, which seems to enable the shaping tools. check if this behavior exists in X5 also.

I am trying to animate the rotation of an object whenever it comes close to another object.
For example object 1 is the needle of a compass, I want it to point straight up whenever it comes close to object 2 (a magnet).
I need this to work regardless of where these objects are in world space. The only thing that matters is that they be next to each other; i.e. just like a real compass and a real magnet. I thought maybe I need a proximity sensor but I can't find any good tutorials on that.
When adding a grain pattern effect to an object in Illustrator CS6 I get an odd bevel that surrounds the object. There is nothing in the Appearance window to suggest that there should be a bevel and I didn't add it myself.
Is there some setting I am missing or an easy way to remove the effect? For now I am masking the object with a slightly smaller object but it's starting to drastically increase the size of my file.
I have been trying to place an image into photoshop cs6. This image however has a white 1 pixel outline around the border. It is very annoying and I can't seem to eliminate it so it doesnt affect the background colour.

One being to highlight an object and then delete using the Delete key. Second example being lost is to left click a drawn line and then to hit delete. Is this a setup problem?

I am trying to use object snap (intersection) to position the end of my sample lines at the intersection of the sample line with a polyline. The object snap works with sample lines left of the alignment centerline but not on the right. How do I correct this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI use the create feature lines from object command from the Survey pull-down menu and choose a "Associate figure survey point to vertices" I get a survey figure that uses point elevations at some vertices and 0 at others. However, if I use Create Feature Lines from Objects under the Grading pull-down, and use a surface made of just the points, I get a a figure with all the correct elevations.
I checked the vertices where the survey figure drops to 0 and the line is snapped to the point, distance = 0.0000. What gives?

I have a line drawing of a simple object that I would like to convert into a shape.
I have figured out how to cut the shape itself out of the original image using the magic wand select tool thing and altering the tolerance. So I have the cut-out shape on a transparent layer in a .psd file. All well and good.
I looked up "shapes" in the help center, and it says this:
"To convert type to shapes
When you convert type to shapes, the type layer is replaced by a layer with a vector mask. You can edit the vector mask and apply styles to the layer; however, you cannot edit characters in the layer as text."
It continues:
"Select a type layer, and choose Layer > Type > Convert To Shape".
Everything was going swimmingly untill that point - I go to the Layer menu - but "Type" is greyed out and therefore inaccessible.
I then did a search for "type layer" to find out what a type layer was - it says:
"About type layers:
After you create a type layer ...
tell me what a type layer is (I figure it has something to do with font, but I don't see how this relates to my line drawing), how to create one, or how to get my drawing into a type layer so I can convert it to a shape!
Why are my detail lines showing as grayed in my reflected ceiling plan? Not halftoned. Check object style setting for line patterns.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am currently using Architecture 2012. When I go to draw a line or an object like a wall or door I can select the colour from properties before I draw the object. The object will then come out that colour.
However if I need to change that colour at a later point, but how to do this?
We have been trying to plot some 3D objects in our drawing with a hidden line. We need the drawing to not show the hidden 3D lines but to show the edge lines of the object to plot as a hidden line.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhenever i draw a new line, hatch etc - Autocad draws the object with a certain lineype. Then after i draw the line i have to manually click the line and set it's linetype to "By layer". It doesn't matter which layer i set as current, it never draws by layer, allways by this other linetype.
Using Cad 10 Architecture - But tried opening the file on other versions aswell, with the same result.
