I downloaded the deaf friendly seal as a vector image from a stock website. Now my co-workers want me to add that "sunburst" round edge and put it behind the round part of the deaf friendly one. Rather than download another vector image of the pointy round thing, I'd like to try to do it myself but I'm not good with Illustrator.
How to create that round object with points around it - maybe a quick and easy way to do it?
Such a scenario:
1 Use the palette apperance can add a new strok to the object.
2 Now, to the stroke, I might add transformations.
3 I want to creatively find the amount of transformations. Turn to preview the changes.
4 Unfortunately, the slider is not precise and varies the size too much.
5 So I make the cursor to the field, and now controls the change of the unit using the keypad.
For example,
Shift + Arrow UP or Down - increments of 10 units
Alt + Arrow UP or Down - jump by one unit
CMD + Arrow UP or Down - jump about half of the
I do work in mm, I would be more precise if I can change the pitch CMD + UP or Down Arrow to jump about 1/10 the unit?
When working with a palette of transformations in view of the above, it is impossible to move the cursor selected object, such as it is in Photoshop when working with a palette of effects? Such a solution would be very fast and very creative.
I am making a 15x22" print of a map of Baltimore and am not sure what pt size to maket the lines separating the neighborhoods. I want to be sure the lines are visible from far away, and, since this is my first time printing something this size.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI can create a shape, drop in an image from outside world, put the shape on top of it, [Command + 7] to create a clipping mask now... I want a nice border around the OUTSIDE of the shape.
I can get a centered stroke. But that's not much use as it begins obscuring some of the content as soon as the stroke has any decent amount of width.I can double click "into" the mask object, and change the stroke to "outside" or "inside" via the Stroke panel, but at this point the stroke disappears.
I am programming an Illustrator plug-in for flexible modifying the width of stroked lines created by the Paintbrush Tool or Pencil Tool. The way of width modification should be similar to the "Width Tool".
Now I would like to have access to the painted area of the stroke lines, which I want to modify. With the Width Tool it is possible to modify the borders of the painted area very flexible. That is the same I want to do in the first step, but I do not know how to access these borders of the painted areas of stroke lines. I would like to know which Suites/functions are responsible for dealing with the painted area of stroke lines.
I just applied the Adobe Illustrator patch for CS6 this morning bringing it up to version 16.0.2. Ever since then, when I apply a stroke to an object,it deforms it. When I update the stroke weight, it deforms it.
This is making the program completely unusable.
How can I draw a continuous stroked line with a fill, so that it overlaps and covers the previously drawn part of the line? I'm trying to draw some text so that it has an effect like in fig. 2 of the attached picture, not fig. 1. Is it possible to make somehow? For a simple image like this I could of course manually remove the few lines, but for a more complex text it's not possible, and I can't seem to find a solution myself.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have created many different objects in Photoshop and placed them exactly where I want them. I do now however need a stroke, and the stroke in photoshop is rounded, and I need a stroke with sharp corners.
Therefor I need to import all of the images together into Illustrator and give them a stroke. The only problem is that when I import the images all of them get created into one object with a white background, and when I apply a stroke, it applies it to the rectangle surrounding all the objects. How can I fix this?
I am strating out designing in illustrator and how to created a stroked line, -----------, with each stroke ( - ) a different colour, like, each stroke having a different randomized color which differs from the next one. how to mask out parts of a template given to me by my school so i dont infringe that boundary when I add my lines to it.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm working on a lj mood theme and I learned how to create round corners - basically I create a new tranparent image, go to modify - > smooth (5px) and then paste the original image. It works fine!, until I try to add a border using the stroke tool - the corners don't get the border, as you can seehere. I really don't know what I'm doing wrong, if it's a setting or what. I've tried several blending modes, all locations (inside, center, outside), preserve transparency, nothing works. Of course, I'm completely challenged when it comes to photoshop, so I could really use your help on this one.

Let's say I have some text (black) with a black stroke on it. (It creates the look I want, without using BOLD.)
How can I convert this text to include the stroke as one entire object? No stroke, just one entire vector shape?
(I notice if you import text this way into Flash, convert to a symbol and fade up from zero opacity, you see the fill as a different value than the stroke value - very annoying.)
Is there a Pathfinder command that I can use to fix this text?
I need the finished script to create a rectangle with no fill and a 20% gray stroke to outline each artboard. I dug this up off these boards, which works perfectly except the rectangles created have no fill or stroke. certainly save me a lot of time drawing rectangles on a daily basis.
#target illustrator
var docRef = app.activeDocument;
var artboardRef = docRef.artboards;
for(i=0;i<artboardRef.length;i++){
var top=artboardRef[i].artboardRect[1] ;
var left=artboardRef[i].artboardRect[0];
var width=artboardRef[i].artboardRect[2]-artboardRef[i].artboardRect[0];
var height=artboardRef[i].artboardRect[1]-artboardRef[i].artboardRect[3];
var rect = docRef.pathItems.rectangle (top, left, width, height);
rect.fillColor = rect.strokeColor = new NoColor();
}
Usually, when you check the 'dashed line' option on the stroke pallete, you will instantly create a dashed-line stroke on the selected path. What I don't know how to do is retaining the straight property of a dash on curve parts of the path.
(Improvised image for illustrating my problem)
I have a problem with my brush and pencil tool. Whenever I want to draw an object without a stroke and just a fill, it immediately assigns me a stroke in either the colour my fill is, or, if I'm using a gradient, in black. It doesn't have that problem with the pen tool though. I also checked in my presettings and my Transform plaette that the "Align to Pixel Grid" option is unchecked. Also, the "New Art has basic appearance" is unchecked.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just need to be able to have the glow or shadow around the object, but no fill or stroke at all.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm not sure what I did to make this happen or how to change it back, but for some reason when I change the size of an object/line it changes the stroke weight as well. (For example, if I drew an ellipse with stroke weight 2 pt, and then increased the size the stroke weight would be 2.856 pt or some such number instead of 2 pt.) How to change this back?
View 3 Replies View RelatedTrying to use the width tool, I ran into the following problem. I would like to have a smooth transition of the stroke width between two width points while keeping the original stroke width unchanged outside of that line segment.
There are four width points here: two end points and two in between. The original stroke width is 200. The two on the left have one side set to 100 while the two on the right have one side set to 50. I would like to eliminate the distortion of the line width occuring in the first and third line segments. The only solution that I have come up with so far is to place two additional width points very close to the two middle width points: one with a 100-unit side to the left of the second point in the picture and one with a 50-unit side to the right of the third point in the picture. Yet there will be a small distirtion in between.
I traced an image earlier, expanded it then wanted to change the line colour. For some reason I couldn't get this to work even though I've done it in the past. So, I used the magic wand to select the line then dragged it into my new document and changed the line colour.
Now, I want to change the fill on certain sections, however when I change the stroke it changes the colour of the line and when I change the fill it changes the color of the line.
Is there a way or an option I am missing to convert my regular paths to a path stroked with a brush profile,while maintining the proper stroke width?
For instance, I have a regular line with a stroke of 5 and then add a brush profile, which then converts the original stroke to whatever the brush was made at.
I created a square in which I have to draw vertical lines in it. I want the first line to start at 2.5 cm from the left segment of the square.
In a different way to say it just to be clear enough, I want to align the segment (inside the square) from the left vertical line of the square, put 2.5 cm to the right, and then there's my line.
When I try to align it using the align tool, I use the square as a key object. But it select ALL the square, so it puts my line 2.5 cm but to the far right of the square, outside my artwork. I'd want to select only the left line of the square.
I have a graphic that I put together in photoshop that I'm trying to bring into illustrator and it has feathered edges. When I bring the .PSD file into AI as a smart object.. the feathered part of the graphic is grey.. but I want it to be transparent.

I have a shape with a black stroke and green fill. I have a white line segment over it. How do I get it so that the end of the line segment doesn't show over the black stroke of the object? If I try to put the line segment behind the object, then the object fill hides it completely.
I'm new to illustrator and I've tried to search for an answer but I don't know the best way to accomplish what I want to do. Seems like some combination of transparency or knockout groups and I've read a bit about this and can't figure out what I need to do.
I need an outline on a stroke that i drew but when i apply object>path>outline stroke i keep getting my initial stroke applied as well. I only need the outline, not the initial stroke. I use Illustrator CC.
